Prettiest place to visit in the UK

Just that really! We're hopefully going to go away in the UK this year, 3 to 4 times and would like some ideas of beautiful places to visit. We love being outside and photography so would love some ideas that might not be common place.
TIA

Harris, outer Hebrides

BobbinThreadbare123 · 28/06/2020 15:50

Seconded - Morecambe Bay area is very nice. Arnside and Silverdale in particular. There's Leighton Moss RSPB sanctuary. Eventually there will be a northern Eden Project near Morecambe.

Goodmorningbaltimore · 28/06/2020 15:50

Dumfries & Galloway so many miles of beautiful coastline.

Sparklyring · 28/06/2020 15:56

@BobbinThreadbare123 I hadnt heard of Eden Project North, we loved the Eden Project so that would be amazing. Any idea of an estimated start date for the project?

Agree Harris for stunning beaches!
Also Orkney

GreyGardens88 · 28/06/2020 16:02

Anywhere but Morecambe

blackpoe · 28/06/2020 16:03

Harris for the beaches but also Northumberland.
Malvern Hills
Snowdonia
Cambridgeshire - the Fens have their own special beauty, especially when the weather is right.

Brumcherub · 28/06/2020 16:04

Cotswolds

Diverseduvet · 28/06/2020 16:05

Jurassic coast, Dorset.

possiblepickle · 28/06/2020 16:05

Placemarking for myself. Want to do the same.

isabellerossignol · 28/06/2020 16:06

The Llyn peninsula. The north Antrim coast and glens. The north Yorkshire coast.

wowfudge · 28/06/2020 16:06

Pretty? The Cotswolds definitely meet the brief.

Susanna85 · 28/06/2020 16:07

Would love some inspiration.
Although with a small baby i'm selfishly crossing my fingers that there are some suggestions within 2h of London

michelle1504 · 28/06/2020 16:13

Harris(especially the beaches), Skye, so many places in Scotland. Cambridge is a beautiful little city, especially in the summer. There are so many stunning places in the UK, hopefully you get lots of ideas from people!

Silvercatowner · 28/06/2020 16:18

So many places in the UK. Skye. North coast of Scotland. Orkney. West Wales. And many places I've not been!

Srictlybakeoff · 28/06/2020 16:24

Harris for the beaches - but can’t really be described as pretty - it’s stunningly beautiful. The great glen at Glencoe is breathtaking in a more ominous way. In fact the west coast of Scotland is generally stunning.
I love Dumfries and Galloway too, esp around Kippford - and would describe it as pretty .
Depends what exactly you’re looking for

Sparklyring · 28/06/2020 16:40

We've done the Jurassic coast and loved it, would absolutely do it again. We're very lucky to live close enough to Northumberland to have days out there at weekends.

Anywhere but Morecambe

The point is perhaps more the view from Morecambe - though personally I'd rather see the sweep of the bay, and the surrounding hills (Lake district, howgill fells, Yorkshire Dales) from one of the small hills thereabouts.

Not as stunning as some of the outer hebrides, to be sure, mud flats rather than shell sand and clear turquoise seas, but being right in the middle of Britain a lot easier to get to for most.... for which reason I would avoid it this year . Nowhere is going to be very pretty if it's swarming with people, I fear.

I think if I was a keen photographer I'd find mostly find some local nature reserves and find beauty and fabulous nature on a smaller scale with patience and observation.

Isle of skye
Nothing on South of England compares

hashtagbollocks · 28/06/2020 16:44

Partyforone · 28/06/2020 16:45
