Just that really! We're hopefully going to go away in the UK this year, 3 to 4 times and would like some ideas of beautiful places to visit. We love being outside and photography so would love some ideas that might not be common place.
TIA

Not in the UK, but the west coast of Ireland around Derry.

The Yorkshire Dales.
Most of the Highlands - both lochs and coastline.
St Ives, Cornwall, but only out of season.

Are you just looking for nature ?
Beaches, mountains, rivers , moors.

Or do you want people to include some stunning historical architecture, some stained glass, chocolate box villages, etc ?

Durham is in County Durham, not in Northumberland. Plenty of pretty, though. Lovely walks along the river, through some pretty ancient buildings, largely belonging to the University and onto the Cathedral.

And a properly scenic route from there to Hexham, which is in Northumberland, if you avoid the motorway.

Most of the places I love have already been mentioned, but not sure if anyone has said Oban and the Isle of Mull. Lovely places. There are lots of places worth visiting in southern Scotland too. Lots of lovely scenery in Dumfries and Galloway and I'm very fond of Moffat and the surrounding area. New Lanark is an interesting place to visit.
I also love Northumberland and never get tired of the Lakes - especially the northern and more off the beaten track lakes which tend to be a bit quieter. Wastwater is stunning, though I'm not sure I would call it pretty.
Lots of really pretty villages in the Midlands, around Warwick, Stratford Upon Avon etc. Herefordshire is also pretty. Further south, so many places to visit in Dorset, Somerset, Devon and Cornwall.
Norfolk is very flat of course but scenic in a different kind of way.
Lots of gorgeous places in Wales. Obviously Snowdonia is beautiful but also the Brecon Beacons, Llyn Peninsula etc. St Davids is beautiful.
I think there is beauty in pretty much every part of Britain to be honest. We are lucky to have so much variety in a small country.

Durham Heritage Coast is spectacular

Some of our favourite places-

Kyle of Localsh - Scotland
Kynance cove - Cornwall
Lynton and Lynmouth - North Devon
New forest - esp Burley
Ring of Kerry - Ireland

I feel so lucky to live in such a beautiful country

willieversleep · 29/06/2020 00:18

North Antrim, County Derry and Fermanagh are all beautiful places!

MushyPeasAreTheDevilsFood · 29/06/2020 00:24

Malham
Holy Island
Matlock

Most places have beautiful parts. Ive (and everyone i know since lockdown) has a beautiful photo of a weir in preston. And darwen tower in lancashire has some fab views. A local photographer takes many beautiful shots From and of the tower.

MrsAvocet I was about to say Mull! I spent 3 weeks there for work 18 months ago, followed by 4 weeks all over Scotland. Iona is lovely as well, but very touristy.

Strumble Head lighthouse in Pembrokeshire. If you can, stay at Pwll Deri YHA a mile away. It has amazing views over the Irish Sea.

Lower Fishguard in the same area is very pretty. The Taylor/Burton film of Under Milkwood was filmed there.

wanderlove · 29/06/2020 07:27

Robin Hoods Bay in North Yorkshire. You can walk to boggle hole. The whole bay from Ravenscar to Tobin Hoods Bay is so timeless and naturally beautiful. There is lots to do nearby: Whitby literally just round the corner is a bit more lively, you can bike the cinder path and may beck waterfall and cafe is a lovely walk through the forest. I love it and it sounds like it wouldn't be too far from you.

Bigbury Devon
Dartmoor

wanderlove · 29/06/2020 07:28

Also the Lake District. I love that you can get away into the hills and quiet even in the bright of summer

secretrugbyfan · 29/06/2020 08:11

Bibury in the Cotswolds....regularly features as one of the top 10 places to go to...you could also take in Moreton in the Marsh and Bourton on the Water too.

If you are minted, use The Wild Rabbit at Kingham as your base.

Russell19 · 29/06/2020 08:13

Dovedale in Ashbourne Derbyshire. Stepping stones make for great photos, especially if you can get there early when nobody is on them.

SheriffCallie · 29/06/2020 11:11

The Antrim coast road in NI. And I’d then drive on into Donegal and explore its ‘wild Altlantic Way’ coastline (not U.K. anymore obv, but v accessible from NI). It’s heaven on Earth.

Bottomplasters · 29/06/2020 11:34

Uppermill, Saddleworth is amazing. Also Haworth and Holmfirth
