I hope the giant paddling pool opens up in the main park. Better than a trip to Skeggie or bringing Midlands pestilence down to Bournemouth.

BubbleIsNotAFuckingVerb · 28/06/2020 13:51

"open playgrounds and swimming pools then you knob"

I think this would make a good thread title Grin when we fill this one up in about 40 mins Wink

MinesaPinot · 28/06/2020 13:54

Hey, hello there on the new thread.

We took the car out this morning for its weekly run and ended up at a really nice garden centre. Very relaxed, inexpensive and just normal. It was lovely. Came back to have brunch and dipped into the Daily Mail (I know). Full of Pritti Patel dementoring about possible Leicester lockdown and don't book holidays yet. Have given up shot a biscuit and am setting down with The Last Kingdom series 4 on Netflix.

Weather a mix of sunshine and cloud here in Kent.

Dowser · 28/06/2020 13:55

@thegreatwave

Are parks not open in your area.
Thankfully ours never closed. Although some car parks were closed, so people parked on the roads
My tribe can be absolute idiots but you can really rely on them to be rebels.

Even Middlesbrough s arse wipe mayor got his head out of his arse and eventually opened the park..on limited hours.
Like 7am till 12..and I understand that he lives in a very nice N Yorks market town with a big open playing field next to the car park with a Boyes store..you’ll know the one I mean. Where walking was not restricted ..humph!

Maybe the people who ‘invaded‘ Bournemouth beach Weren’t from Birmingham at all but Leicester lol

Honestly , the people who haven’t stepped foot outside their houses since March, really need to get out more.
That virus, will be just waiting for a fresh piece of meat to land on, because everyone who has been out and out about will have built up immunity.
( unless they are very , very sick ,bed bound etc. Of course ..I’m not that callous)

Someone was saying I’ve got health anxiety...well hiding in your bunker isn’t going to help that is it?

Well I’ve got ‘driving in torrential rain when I can’t see a bleeding thing in front of me‘ anxiety ..but I’ll be back out there tomorrow.

( not quite sure where I’m going 😂 but I’ll be going somewhere..just to prove I still can.
If I can get back on a plane, after the one we were in was hit by lighting I reckon I’ll give anything a go.
Except bungee jumping!

They need to get the nanny to show them what a playground is.

Sadly I do think there's been more than a whiff of that at times.

There was a lovely paddling pool park near IL. Council staff used to come and test water every day then it got vandalised rubbish thrown in - so they filled it all in and then put fountain style one in - but they didn't have them on at all last summer.

DrearyWallAntler · 28/06/2020 14:00

Just checking in here as well....

Yes , windy, sunny, cloudy here..no fucking rain though..could’ve gone to caravan today ...argh!

Poor mr Dowser..his normally ruddy/ brown complexion was white..and bless him he was braking with his feet.
I think he thinks, I don’t notice, but hey when I’m in the driving seat..Im All systems go.

Just been to the local tip.

Was expecting queues and lots of restrictions but was quite normal. They shout at you which container to throw your stuff in and you run about trying to dodge everyone doing the same Grin

TheGreatWave · 28/06/2020 14:06

dowser I live in the land of the mayor, I fear that he will still try to stop the play areas being open.

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 28/06/2020 14:06

I thought I’d done so well today, up and dressed, caught up on household admin and baked a loaf of bread.

Except I’ve just taken a peek and I’d forgotten to add yeast ffs. So I’ve spent 3 hours cooking a brick.

dowser I have health anxiety - but have resigned myself to this thing coming for us all sooner or later.

Ibake · 28/06/2020 14:08

Why thank you @bubble, have never named a thread before, what an honour!!

Check this out, our local freebie mag. The answer to their front page question is 'no, they fucking well aren't'. PS interesting how they didn't actually dare to muzzle up the actual model though?

SeagoingSexpot · 28/06/2020 14:09

Fucking hell you lot, I step away for 2 hours to take the DC minigolfing...

(Which was expensive but brilliant - would never have booked it prelockdown, but fuck I'll do anything right now to give our day some purpose...)

Counting down to pubs and playgrounds. Come on playgrounds.

Drivingdownthe101 · 28/06/2020 14:10

Only just realised it should have been my DD’s dance show today 😭

trappedsincesundaymorn · 28/06/2020 14:14

Afternoon all.

Not much going on at Trumped Towers today. Although it is Sunday so DD will be video calling later when she's finished work. I might tentatively suggest a visit on her next day off if the Holiday Inn about a mile away from her is open. For various reasons (mostly that DD and her DP are fostering a couple of snakes from work....snakes, shudder) I can't stay at hers, hopefully they'll come here instead. I do hope so.

Mascotte · 28/06/2020 14:15

So fed up of this life. Peeing down so tried to go to B&M but queue. Queue at Aldi. Queue at M&S.

Drove home super grumpy. But popped into CoOp and the nice man actually took my diseased and murdering reusable bag and packed my shopping for me. So that was cheering.

trappedsincesundaymorn · 28/06/2020 14:15

Trumped...wtf...TRUMPED???? Trapped obviously, no small handed walking Cheesy Wotsits are living in MY house.

Willitneverend · 28/06/2020 14:21

Another stabbing in Glasgow. There was a brawl with a hammer on Thursday, then the terrible incident on Friday as well as a murder, and now someone stabbed in the city centre as well.

I make that 2 confirmed deaths from violence just in one city when there's been no coronavirus deaths. But nobody seems that bothered!

Mrsfrumble · 28/06/2020 14:22

Surely they can’t backtrack on playgrounds can they? I’ve already told my children that 4th July is the day. God, the meltdowns if it doesn’t happen ShockSad

I'm doing the fucking bolt cutters on the 4th if the council hasn't taken the locks off already. We've waited long enough.
Littlebelina · 28/06/2020 14:35

I saw that playground guidance on another thread but it's in the corona zone so didn't have the energy to reply. However imho I don't think it's meant to be that prescriptive (or it's been poorly written by someone who doesn't understand human error reductions) , there's lots of should and could and we advise but not a lot of you must do this. It advises cleaning frequently but doesnt say what is frequent (daily? Weekly? given how often I suspect playgrounds are cleaned normally you could even argue monthly). I think it gives councils enough wriggle room to get with putting some signs up advising social distancing and hand washing and potentially spraying with disinfectant occasionally. That doesn't mean that councils won't take every part as gospel (the schools guidance was just as woolly in places and some schools were very literal with that) and keep playgrounds that can be locked closed (and I suspect zoos, NT etc might decide it's not worth the bother) but my suspicion is that it's been written so the Government is seen to be giving guidelines but they actually allow playground owners to do very little. If I wrote a document like that for work I expect my arse to be handed to me by our compliance people.

Anyway given the fact it's been publicly stated that playgrounds can open from the 4th I would think most will just ignore any signs on none locked public playgrounds and use them anyway. We will.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 28/06/2020 14:37

@LadyOfTheImprovisedBath

Coronavirus: 'Children may have been radicalised in lockdown '

Children have been exposed to more extremist material on social media during lockdown and could return to school radicalised, it has been warned

...
He said teachers "need to be alert" to and challenge extremist attitudes among pupils when schools reopen in Wales on Monday.

From contact with school so far I think the focus is going to be on phycial distancing. They'll have one teacher for few hours who may not be a teacher they know - especially in secondary.

More "being alert"
LivinLaVidaLoki · 28/06/2020 14:40

@InsaneInTheViralMembrane

thegreatwave children shouldn’t be having fun until old people stop dying.
I'm sorry I just proper laughed at that.
