Single parent and I very much have the mentality that the children should get the best of the best, and I’ll be fine with a cheapo version.

Mattress being a case in point. And I’m fed up! So I’m going to splurge. Well, not Tempur mattress level of spend but prepared to go to £600

Simba? Emma? Or the more established silent night picket spring kind of mattress.

It needs to fit a small double (120 x 190) so reduces options but the above brands all do in this size.

I’d really appreciate some guidance!

Many thanks

I love my ikea mattress.
I think it should have been £695 but I got it in a sale for a lot less. King size.

Cant remember its name now, which will annoy me.
If ikea are open from monday, I would say go and try some?
Take a blanket or towel to lay on.

Emma mattress here, it's amazing. There us ALWAYS a sale on or coming up, so don't pay full price. They also do interest free for a year to soften the blow even further.

Juliet2014 · 12/06/2020 21:43

Oh thank you
Any particular one?
How come so good?

A while ago Johnewis were selling them, and offering £100 in JL vouchers or some such amazingness. Shop about.
I'd recommend Emma every time though, cool, so easy to wash the zip off mattress protector, handles for moving the mattress, just generally fab

iamme21 · 12/06/2020 21:59

I’m really tempted to go for an Emma, glad to hear a positive review

Moo7878 · 12/06/2020 22:09

I've got an Otty. Love it.

Juliet2014 · 12/06/2020 22:16

Emma it is!

I slept on a friend’s guest bed and it was so comfy I copied it. I don’t have the mattress name to hand but on top it has a John Lewis Devon wool topper. It is wonderful. Soft, warm in winter, cool in summer.

SweepTheHalls · 12/06/2020 22:19

Vi Sprung. Its amazing

ProtectAll · 12/06/2020 22:19

I love my Simba

longtompot · 12/06/2020 22:22

We've just bought this one. Had it just over a week and so far so good.

I have an Eve and love it.
One word of advice is to be aware of the bed base.
We have two different bed bases and an Eve mattress on both. They both feel very different.

Unfortunately difficult to test out on different bed bases!

Thankfully cones with 200 night trial though

I also rate Ikea. I have a king size Hokkasen which was about £450.

They also come with a ten year guarantee, ours actually needed replacing end of last year as it had a fault - it was so so easy. Engineer came out and confirmed the fault, then we just reordered and had it a few days later.

DisappearingGirl · 12/06/2020 22:55

We just got an "Emma original" mattress - really love it.

The Emma website seems to be saying 40% off at the moment.

We got ours from John Lewis and it was a bit over £400 for a king size.

PS you sound a lovely parent :)

FlamingoAndJohn · 12/06/2020 22:59

What I mean is that it might mean that some people say one brand is soft or hard when it’s the bed base it’s on.

Polkadotties · 12/06/2020 23:00

Got a Simba mattress. I love it

Aswellaslocal · 12/06/2020 23:01

We have just got a simba and I am very happy. We got a big discount buying off their eBay store but still with the 100 nights guarantee

Thisiscrazy1000 · 12/06/2020 23:01

Got the simba hybrid...think it was about 800 pounds ish. I wasn’t bowled over by how comfortable I found it but seems to have almost stopped my back pain. I did have a very old mattress before so it could be that any new mattress would have helped!

Elzbells · 12/06/2020 23:06

Happy Beds Crystal 3000 sprung. Cheap and utterly the best mattress ever. You can get off their site or amazon.

Elzbells · 12/06/2020 23:07

Small double is £260 and worth every penny

Inforthelonghaul · 12/06/2020 23:31

We have a Harrison mattress. It’s 4 years old but looks and feels like it did when it was brand new. Ridiculously expensive but worth every penny.

Minimamame · 13/06/2020 00:08

Emma! Got ours about a month ago and I honestly love it.

Juliet2014 · 13/06/2020 06:29

The Emma lovers

How firm is it? I am under 8 stone. I like my bed medium firm

Can’t wait!!

Ps thank you all
