Please recommend me a wonderful mattress

Single parent and I very much have the mentality that the children should get the best of the best, and I’ll be fine with a cheapo version.

Mattress being a case in point. And I’m fed up! So I’m going to splurge. Well, not Tempur mattress level of spend but prepared to go to £600

Simba? Emma? Or the more established silent night picket spring kind of mattress.

It needs to fit a small double (120 x 190) so reduces options but the above brands all do in this size.

I’d really appreciate some guidance!

I haven't had any problems with my Emma hybrid. I've slept well every night. I'm lightweight and sleep on it alone. Often cold at night so being a warm mattress doesn't bother me. My sister and brother in law have also tried it when they visited but found it a bit soft.

Surely airing the mattress is not goi g to stop the retardant causing health issues? You are still breathing in the fumes when sleeping. Flame retardants are linked to thyroid disorders and many other issues.

Emma. Bought it about 4 weeks ago with a raft of discounts, £150 single including taking old away. Very comfortable.

My Emma being collected on Wednesday and I’ll be glad to see the back of it! Lying on The cheap piece of foam that they sent me to cover the hybrid mattress when I said a bit firm for me.... no thanks!

I bought a Silentnight Memory 3 Zone mattress for £240. It's wonderful. It's firm but comfortable in all the right places.

I wanted an Emma but couldn't afford it. The Silentnight was a Which? best buy so I put my faith in it and it's been down for three weeks now and I'm loving it.

I've also just had occasion to cut up a mattress (can't remember which type, but part memory foam part pocket spring) and I was horrified to see how thin the layers of foam were!

It was a very comfortable mattress when it was alive, but now I see how it was made I'm a bit aghast at the price!

@Atadaddicted sorry just seen this. I'm on the app but I'll try and log into a real screen and find your PM. I'm still suffering with Emma and will return it. Did it take very long between asking for the return, it being collected and issuing the refund?
I'm really glad you like it. I'm partly hesitant incase I return Emma and new/different mattress is worse.

Jumping on board, any other opinions on the Otty?

For those of you who have a SIMBA did you buy the hybrid?

I've been looking for weeks, it's quite a price hop from the original but I'm a very hot sleeper so think I'll have to go for the hybrid

I'm so impatient I went ahead and ordered, this might not be for everyone but it transpires that you can buy most of these mattresses refurbished, they all seem to have different criteria but the Otty only resell mattresses that have been slept on for less than 30 nights, they are inspected and recovered, the eBay shop has the king size hybrid for £219 delivered!!
