I have this image of NS in a pair of black stilettos embedded with rugby studs on the sole walking up and down Drakeford`s prone form shouting instructions at him. A celtic ritual of obedience. It would make a lovely cartoon.

Waleshasgonecompletelycrazy · 12/06/2020 17:31

@justasking111 - thanks for that I'm going to have to drink a lot tonight to kill enough brain cells to wipe that image! (Like I needed an excuse)!

Is in in case they need to calm us down with the shops opening perhaps? Smile yes always on a Friday...

Cattermole · 12/06/2020 17:39

@justasking111 with Chris Whitty in a gimp suit waiting his turn. Moistly. (He always looks moist.)

Orangeblossom78 · 12/06/2020 17:40

As numbers drop and become very low in total this R will be tricky to follow as well, because even a small rise could cause the R to change quite a bit, right? I can see this figure being manipulated..

DrearyWallAntler · 12/06/2020 17:42

I bloody love a pivot table:

mobile.twitter.com/RP131/status/1271431571632009216

(deaths reported against date they actually occurred. Hospital only)

Willitneverend · 12/06/2020 17:45

NS has announced we can't drop the 2 meter rule until covid is eradicated and any imported cases picked up by TITS. I guess we're actually not too far away from that as the numbers are so low.

I guess the biggest dement of all time is about to happen when the English are allowed to visit.

UselessTrees · 12/06/2020 17:48

More dementoring from the Guardian here: "Fewer than one in six adults in England “strongly support” the easing of stay at home measures across the country, a survey suggests." But another 33% 'tend to support' it - so that's about 49% in support altogether right? Compared to 34% who oppose or strongly oppose. And another 27% who presumably didn't know or didn't express an opinion either way. So why isn't it 'only a third of adults oppose the easing of stay at home measures'? Hmm

I just had an email from a small restaurant chain that they're taking bookings to actually eat in their restaurants from July! Really happy for them Smile

trappedsincesundaymorn · 12/06/2020 17:53

Just read this from the ONS. Covid deaths amounted to 25% of ALL deaths March 1st and May 31st. One to throw at the dementors I think.

There were 46,687 deaths occurring in England and Wales between 1 March and 31 May 2020 and registered by 6 June 2020 that involved the coronavirus (COVID-19); this represented a quarter (25.9%) of all deaths occurring over this period (180,586 deaths)

Cattermole · 12/06/2020 17:56

@trapped no no - flip that one on its head for the dementors - like @UselessTrees just said -

75% of all deaths during this period did NOT occur as a result of COVID-19

Cattermole · 12/06/2020 17:57

PS we've just had a Chinese takeaway delivered, cos that is how we (spring) roll.
Not essential but IDGAF.
And we're booking Heligan for next Sunday AND MUM IS COMING!!!!

Willow2017 · 12/06/2020 17:58

OMFG😤
Scottish education still wittering on about 2m social distancing in August. Oh and if your kid needs transport to school you are fecked. They are sticking to 2m on bloody busses! I.e a 72 seater bus will only have 10 kids in it.

They are clapping themselves on the back that kids can go back a week early yet still putting obstacles in the way for parents. Thousands of kids need transport to school due to rural locality and working parents but they arent going to provide it.
Arghhh.
Thankfully it doesnt apply to my ds anymore but its going to screw over so many kids and parents. Do they seriously think we will still need to have 2m rule in 2 months? We will be the laughing stock of the world.

Willitneverend · 12/06/2020 18:02

@willow2017 apparently if its eradicated we can drop it then.

All this is smoke and mirrors. Scottish Government getting absolute pelters and there's hardly any cases, and people are increasingly pissed off (what was it, 44% of Scottish adults strongly supporting lockdown easing in the Guardian article?). At some arbitrary point she will announce it's been contained and present this bin fire as a triumph.

iamapixie · 12/06/2020 18:03

Ah the R number. The lower the number of cases, the easier it is to skew. It's like dementor fairy dust. Sprinkle it around for mass panic.
I've just lost my shit at my MP - felt great while I was typing though I'm such a polite person usually and I came across as a bit ranty. I had written about schools and how the 'can't open til it's safe' mantra needed to be looked at and contextualised. Asked that that view be passed on to government. MP came back with stock phrases about sympathy for my 'struggles' and 'schools absolutely must reopen once it is safe to do so'. Aaargh. So I wrote back asking why, by Covid-logic, we don't ban cars on account of air pollution and asthma killing millions worldwide, social media (online bullying leading to suicide - remember those pre Covid days when we were allowed to care about mental health?) and all fast food (the child obesity crisis)... I am seriously losing the will to live. My mum s dementia is so bad now and she won't leave the house so mobility gone and she needs even more care, which she hates. But hey, she's 'safe'. If i never hear that fucking word again it will be too soon.

AnxiousElephant77 · 12/06/2020 18:03

Good to see the Millennium Centre also subscribing to the end of the year nonsense.

MagdaS · 12/06/2020 18:04

I have just had Friday afternoon drinks and sketching competition with my lovely colleagues and I shouldn’t drink 3 (small) cans of beer before 6pm.

We reminisced about drunken nights out we have known, including where I fell over and called the manager of the other team ‘scary [her name]’. To her face. In my defence it was a long time ago, I am a lot more senior now and tend to behave myself a bit better. Blush

Unfortunately at the moment all the highs are swiftly followed by absolute crashing lows. I almost don’t want to smile and laugh as it will be inevitably followed by feeling awful.

Willitneverend · 12/06/2020 18:04

SNP dementors will give themselves a big pat on back for their grassing and blame the nasty care home providers for deaths and Tories for economic wreckage.

Orangeblossom78 · 12/06/2020 18:06

It's kind of strange that Scotland is so dementory but not making face masks mandatory anywhere even on said buses Confused

but no that might look like copying England perhaps (sigh)

Oh well hight not have to see dementory Scottish extended family for a while then

Willitneverend · 12/06/2020 18:08

@orangeblossom78 that's because they're trying to shame everyone into wearing them. Mike Russell said that it would become socially unacceptable and people would stare at folk not wearing masks in supermarkets.

Orangeblossom78 · 12/06/2020 18:10

Aw that would worry my old dad up there. He doesn't really get it.

Willow2017 · 12/06/2020 18:17

that's because they're trying to shame everyone into wearing them. Mike Russell said that it would become socially unacceptable and people would stare at folk not wearing masks in supermarkets
Well that worked well🤣🤣🤣
Distinct lack of masks round here.

Drivingdownthe101 · 12/06/2020 18:21

I’m so fucked off with events that are cancelled offering online alternatives. Online Good Food show? What, so I can watch other people sample all the nice food and drink on offer? Fuck off. Just give it up.

justasking111 · 12/06/2020 18:24

As I was peeling carrots to go with the finnan haddock I thought I do not want bloody potatoes and fish, i want to sit in a pub holding a menu and choose something I have not had to prep, nor wash up after. I want someone to treat me. I want a large choice of dishes to peruse.

AnxiousElephant77 · 12/06/2020 18:24

We've just had a dementory email from the council about dd's school.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say they are expecting part time schools in September. She's year 8.
