I swear fewer people are wearing masks around here than were a couple of weeks ago.

I’ve just had a blissful few hours on my own in the house, DD was at a friend’s house and DH and the dog are not back from Norfolk yet. I got a delivery from Wagamama and watched a crappy film. I can’t remember the last time I had the house to myself.

Nihiloxica · 12/06/2020 18:29

I won't be wearing masks.

They will become a default we can't roll back from.

I made that mistake with lockdown, I will never make it again.

KaronAVyrus · 12/06/2020 18:29

I won’t be wearing a mask either.

Drivingdownthe101 · 12/06/2020 18:33

Me either.

NothingIsWrong · 12/06/2020 18:35

I've just had to renew DD's bus pass for the home to school transport for September. Price the same as last year so I'm guessing they aren't expecting to have to run twice as many buses... oh and masks are not mandatory on H2S dedicated services although will be recommenced.

TheGreatWave · 12/06/2020 18:37

Earlier I did a survey for my professional body about changes in working since the outbreak. The last question was along the lines of "if a pandemic happened again what would you want to happen?"

My immediate thought was "I'd want to kill myself" I didn't put it down, but seriously I could never do this again.

SeaOtterFluff · 12/06/2020 18:38

I won't be wearing a mask. My manager is obsessed with them and thinks they should be worn everywhere. If they become company policy in the office, I'll be happy to take that disciplinary and tell them where they can be stuck.
I'm still stuck at the angry stage. Not helped by falling down the stairs last night and landing on my arse. I am in great pain today but I should be grateful that I don't have the Killer Virus...

LivinLaVidaLoki · 12/06/2020 18:38

@Nihiloxica

The fucking cheek of them asking for extra furlough when they took it upon themselves to extend their lock down.

Pay for your own sodding furlough, if you're so independent.

This. Absolutely!
Bollss · 12/06/2020 18:38

What is Scotland's problem? Like what does Nicola know that we don't?

I just don't get how you can justify giving children one third of their education when you're having less than a handful of deaths a day?

I really hope Boris just takes no notice and cracks on. (I do feel incredibly sorry for those of you in Scotland and Wales btw)

Europe is opening back up and nothing terrible has happened there.. what's the reason we can't do the same?

GoldenOmber · 12/06/2020 18:42

Ah well you see, we all have to go along with this so that we can squash the virus and get back to normal sooner and have pubs and restaurants and cinemas open again. Except even when they are schools still won't be open properly. So it's short-term pain for long-term... pain?

Orangeblossom78 · 12/06/2020 18:46

I think, possible that some areas of Scotland (and Wales) are poor in terms of health (the worst hit area in Scotland has a lot of drugs problems) so those things might make some areas vulnerable

But NS would not like to talk about that perhaps. Last year, Scotland was reported as having a major drugs crisis with deaths from drugs higher than USA.

She was upset that England did not send people up to help advise and sort that out as well

Waleshasgonecompletelycrazy · 12/06/2020 18:46

@TrustTheGeneGenie thank you. It very strange to be on the side of less funding for my home country but we’re taking the piss at this stage. If you really believe it’s dangerous you shouldn’t ask your neighbours to do it and if you don’t, get on with it. We’re all in this together and rights shouldn’t depend on location. I include the possibility my dd might see the inside of a school in July. The same opportunity should be available across England, Wales and Scotland as we share a small island

Sweet Fanny Adams.
She is just point scoring. She only has one agenda. Always had always will.

ISaySteadyOn · 12/06/2020 18:50

I am with you @Nihiloxica re: masks. I categorically refuse.

On another note, I have been working my way through the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World oeuvres. And there are a few lessons I have learned: scientists are not always good, scientists are not always right and some of them deserve to be eaten by Indominus Raptors (a genetically engineered dinosaur that is both a really stupid and a really awesome idea).

Orangeblossom78 · 12/06/2020 18:52

Inverclyde one of worst drugs area and also worst hit for the virus too, these are not healthy communities and it will expose Scotland's poor health outcomes etc

www.greenocktelegraph.co.uk/news/17625906.damning-statistics-reveal-extent-of-inverclydes-drug-abuse-problem/

www.theguardian.com/world/2020/may/06/you-can-see-the-stress-inverclyde-tops-uks-coronavirus-death-tables

Maybe NS needs to think about tacking the underlying problems and health perhaps

Bollss · 12/06/2020 18:56

I wonder what excuse shell use when the economy in Scotland has gone down the pan and English kids are getting a full education while Scottish are not!

It was just about justified closing schools in the first place but to miss 6 months and then get 33% of an education in the next school year is bloody ridiculous.

When will this bloody well end Angry

Like in all seriousness if it's pt in aug/sept when we can we expect ft?

October? January? Never?

MagdaS · 12/06/2020 18:57

One of you lovely lot posted a photo of some guidelines for having sex during lockdown. They were official but inadvertently both hilarious and ridiculous. I can’t find them. Any chance of a repost if anyone remembers what I mean?

Mascotte · 12/06/2020 19:01

I'm in Scotland. I've decided if my boy is to be back so little he won't go back at all unti it's full time. We will use the time to go travelling and do fun stuff. I'm not going to be the enforcer of education. It's just me and him and we are not going to be at daggers drawn over something the state should provide.

Bollss · 12/06/2020 19:03

@mascotte I don't blame you one bit. I'm considering not sending Ds to primary if it's for 10 hours a week and keeping him in nursery until whenever ft resumes. Seems silly he can go ft to nursery but not school. Call me cynical but perhaps it's because we pay for one service and not the other!

justasking111 · 12/06/2020 19:03

I wonder what is happening re buying and distributing drugs with this lockdown, how do they get the drugs in. Wales has picked up a few cars stuffed to the gunnels with drugs destined for Bangor, down the coast and Anglesey. Not so easy now.

Laniakea · 12/06/2020 19:06

Pay for your own sodding furlough, if you're so independent.

^ Hallelujah!

What she really wants to do is close down the country a la Jacinda ... sucks for her that they aren't an island & she can't afford it!

Masks (excepting the chin hammocks) definitely in retreat here.

Had a good day ... dh got some leave (thank fuck, first day off for 12 WEEKS), I very angrily emailed dc2's EHCP people, arranged some good things for dcs 3&4, dc1 is meeting up with a bunch of friends (via Starbucks) tomorrow, we had lunch with my parents, my sister is moving back to them tonight which will be lovely for all of us & the local kids were all out playing together in the puddles. Rain meant I didn't need to water the garden. Oh & I got a commission ... I very rarely do anything for money but I'm so pleased that some ppl are still willing to spend on fripperies I couldn't say no! (that one's for Rishi & HMRC Wink )

My BIL is back to work, sister is back in two weeks, my brother next month ... all high end arts so they are the anti-keyworkers Grin. I'm so pleased for them I could cry.

Mascotte · 12/06/2020 19:07

@TrustTheGeneGenie yes.. I think I'm just going to turn it into a good time for us. I have very little work but all remote. Trying to cheer myself up with lovely plans instead of anger about the Scottish Government and schools!

Drivingdownthe101 · 12/06/2020 19:08

If it’s part time school from September we might go to the in laws in Spain for a couple of months. They’ve got loads of room, MIL was a primary school teacher for 35 years and has far more patience than me, and they’ve got a swimming pool. Win win.
