@justasking111 My understanding is that the point-in-time Covid test is only reliable in the first five days... so if he miscounted, or his viral load decreased quicker, it could be undetectable when he did the test.
Is he now having an antibody test? Still waiting for my results... (I don't think I've had it, just reaffirms what a bloody shambles my trust can be sometimes. Apparently Occy Health lost a load of the paperwork 🙄)

Ghostlyglow · 07/06/2020 20:16

Oh lord! Not toilet roll again!

Waleshasgonecompletelycrazy · 07/06/2020 20:17

This is a great thread on Twitter about transmission from children threadreaderapp.com/thread/1269670885100748801.html

@TheGreatWave

The Hermes woman knows DH by name.

He assures me this is just because he is always signing parcels for next door.

At one point we saw the DPD driver every day for a week and were on first name terms with him!

Do you all remember the early days of furlough and how we, that were furloughed, should be doing something other than sitting on our fat lazy workshy arses? Well there was a thread on here sometime last week saying that it wasn't fair that the furloughed were doing shifts in Tesco's, because it meant that those that worked there normally were having their overtime cut as Tesco now had enough part time staff furloughed from other jobs to cover the extra shifts Also that we furloughed hard working types should stay at home and give the jobs to those who have been made redundant.

My how I laughed.

BarkandCheese · 07/06/2020 20:19

What’s this about toilet roll? Have we looped back to the start again with the panic buying?

trappedsincesundaymorn · 07/06/2020 20:19
  • laughed at the thread not the redundancies, sorry if that was unclear.
Ghostlyglow · 07/06/2020 20:19

I've had a pretty good day. Saw mum (who forewarned me that DStepDad was a bit twitchy but he was fine when we were there). Then a friend who has hilarious personal interpretation of the rulez (mask and gloves in supermarket/visiting new boyfriend for shags HmmGrin) so always good for a chuckle. All at a safe distance and in keeping with the RULEZ.

For what it's worth - no one I know in the NHS has been warned of a second wave... but we are not without our dementors. Many a colleague have been snoozed on FB (usually the ones who also share "most people won't read this but...." and Britain first memes).

We had a lovely FaceTime with MIL who is antidementor, avid newspaper reader, critical thinker, respectful disagree-er (sorry grammar lovers!) and most importantly.... retired teacher. She's married to a full time dementor (predating Covid by approx. 70 years) and still has an open mind and a forceful dose of cynicism. She's very interested in the idea that exposure to lots of bugs/viruses/colds etc actually enhances your immunity to Covid as she has the immunity of a rhino after all her years of primary teaching.

Good good

Willow2017 · 07/06/2020 20:29

I’ve lurked for several threads now. Please tell me there isn’t going to be another run on loo roll.
That thread is a storm in a toilet bowl!
Buying a 9 loo roll pk instead of a 4 pk today is hardly going to help anyone in a few month's time!

The people on there calling it panic buyjng and to "PLEASE Stop" are ridiculous.

And yes the media are ramping it up to get attention. No actual truth is needed in the quest for "News of more doom and gloom".
They should be held accountable for thier lies but nothing will be done as usual.

NothingIsWrong · 07/06/2020 20:32

Just having a minor panic that the dementors are right and we are wrong and that it all going to shit.

I think a gin might help...

Noooooo as bark said yesterday they've been wrong about most things. I think they're still wrong!

SudokuBook · 07/06/2020 20:33

I’ve just noticed the council uniform dementoring on our council fb page. Mine will both be in high school so I guess it will be uniform as normal but primaries are either no uniform or just trousers, polo shirt and sweatshirts. Does the virus magically adhere to shirts and ties and skirts?! Oh and an instruction that we need to wash school clothes every day as soon as they come home. What a fucking crock of shit.

DD's an adult but I signed anyway. If she was a child today, not being at school would be akin to torture for her. She has told me that she doesn't think her mental health would recover from spending so much time away from other children and adults. I fear she maybe right.
NothingIsWrong · 07/06/2020 20:36

@TrustTheGeneGenie they have. I can do this. I hate being a wobbly wreck, it's not me at all. And tomorrow I have to go to work and keep on going. Just have to keep going.

Waleshasgonecompletelycrazy · 07/06/2020 20:38

@NothingIsWrong I have those moments too, but if I’m wrong then I’ve stood up for dd’s education and wider social needs, I’ve spoken out about safeguarding children, I’ve asked for people who are particularly vulnerable to be better protected and I’ve said that by destroying our economy and focusing our health care on one condition people will die. I may be wrong about a second wave but my intentions are to protect wider society. I can live with that.

Rubber dinghy
My son, carer, was in contact with a client who tested Post I’ve for Covid way back in May.
He sent off for a test.the test arrived the next day .
Then he had to book a courier slot
First one was mid June
The test has to to be taken within a small window just before it’s picked up, so if you only have 5 days in which to be tested, the test was out of date before he even got it

Isn’t that just ridiculous.
So he hasn’t done it.

PickAChew · 07/06/2020 20:42

I'd happily flock to Redcar for a yellow top if I could guarantee a nice loo to deal with the after effects. Dairy and I do not get along.

PickAChew · 07/06/2020 20:43

Got the exact bog roll I ordered from Sainsburys on Thursday evening. Just as well as we were almost down to the funny coloured emergency pack that we got as a sub a week before lockdown.

Waleshasgonecompletelycrazy · 07/06/2020 20:46

@pickachew I’m really hoping emergency bog roll looks like crime scene tape!
