Hopefully you don't!! It really is shit. We've got loads of wedding stuff just sat in our house it's depressing!

Khione · 08/06/2020 15:57

I've just heard that Nicola Sturgeon's nickname at university was seaweed, as not even the tide would take her out!

Dowser · 08/06/2020 15:58

Please lock me up for my own safety and sanity
I’ve been ranting on fb again, when someone parroted a stupid remark .
I’m practically frothing at the mouth.
How can people be so stupid
I’m going to read thread backwards now.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 08/06/2020 15:59

@TrustTheGeneGenie

They'll probably just Dement about how unsafe it must be because they did it so quick Confused
I have literally already seen people say they wont have it as its rushed and not tested properly.
NothingIsWrong · 08/06/2020 16:02

I would have a vaccine like a shot (see what I did there 😂)

Better day today although I'm still not massively productive at work. We'll get there.

I did get out at lunchtime for a 40th birthday cake and sausage roll party. Was lovely - distanced in the garden.

The last reported death from covid in my county (hospitals - don't know about care homes) was 21st May. Obvs maybe more to come from this weekend but still...

Teateaandmoretea · 08/06/2020 16:03

I have literally already seen people say they wont have it as its rushed and not tested properly.

Plus all the ones who will never download the app. It’s why I think ending this ridiculous situation is actually the only option.

Thighmageddon · 08/06/2020 16:14

Nothing the last death in our county was about 17 days ago I think.

Waleshasgonecompletelycrazy · 08/06/2020 16:15

I like the way if the figures go up, usually because of late counting e.g. care homes in n wales it’s evidence a second wave is in the way and lockdown should tighten but if they improve its nonsense and evidence we’re in the way to a second wave due bad behaviour.

Confirmation today that DH is being unfurloughed, and school return details 4 days a week from Monday just hit the inbox. Two days of double figures in deaths and zero deaths London. Green shoots is the feeling chez GoatFart. I just have to keep holding on to the little improvements, because despite knowing full well I have it easier than many, and hopefully being past the worst of the financial uncertainty... This is just such an endless grind.

enjoyingSun · 08/06/2020 16:25

I have a flu injection every winter as does DS and my kids have had all their injections and I'm not keen on the vaccine for us till it's been widly used across large populations.

For older family members at much higher risk - would love them to have the option of a vaccine.

I'd also expect eventually it might end up in flu vaccine if it does become a seasonal infection as I've seen some experts suggest it might by which time we'd just get it.

Oh my God, you're right.

Sorry if this has been posted before, but in the midst of all the frothy dementoring on Facebook, there are a few sane voices.

Martin Searle takes a very intelligent look at the data

He’s particularly scathing about the WHO’s changed stance on masks ...

My submission for the next thread title:

Anti-dementors not (second) waving but flouting

Waleshasgonecompletelycrazy · 08/06/2020 16:40

I hope they make theft jab universally available on the NHS this year to try to drive herd immunity (the proper type). If there is a second wave (big if), reducing the burden of flu could be a massive help during winter. I'd be happy to have the vaccine and have been trying to apply for trials, but despite COVID lurking around every corner the chances of me actually catching it are too low for me to be a guineapig!

Maybe we could just pick Scotland or Wales for dementor paradise and do a swap. I quite fancy a Summer in Edinburgh if you want to send Nicola et al down here, we can have a little haven where common sense and wine flow freely and you're not expected to piss in a bush!

We’ve just had to stand outside the opticians (DS fell off a balance bike and scratched the lens of his glasses) because there were 4 people in there already... we were miles away from anyone, just standing inside the doorway! Good job it was better weather than yesterday 🙄

I have a phone consultation with my GP tomorrow as I’m a bit worried about a mole on my arm... they’re refusing to see people in person without a phone triage first. Feeling pretty uneasy about the whole thing. Hoping not to be fobbed off Sad

I strongly suspect that there will be a much lower toll from flu deaths this year because some of the people that would have died from flu this winter have already died from CV - as we know both are worse for the elderly and those with comorbidities.

On a more positive note I also think it will be lower because more of us will carry on with the more effective hand washing and reduced face touching - which will positively reduce the infection rate of flu and colds and noro and other illnesses

AnxiousElephant77 · 08/06/2020 16:55

Dd has a (diagnosed) cyst on her neck, it's been a little red during lockdown but the GP has been brilliant, they've offered video consultation and we've sent across photos, not fobbed off at all, hopefully it'll be the same for you.

Waleshasgonecompletelycrazy · 08/06/2020 16:59

@Khione - that’s a good point. I hope so too.

Love the new flouty thread title!

@Thighmageddon 17 days here as well - I wonder if we live in the same county!

BogRollBOGOF · 08/06/2020 17:32

I've had a lovely day up the Dark end of the county flouting around in the National Park. Lots of space in the car park, shame I had to pay and display when I couldn't spend a penny, but the bracken a mile away looked thirsty.

Lots of older teens/ young adults up the hill. Unfortunately we didn't do the full route as DS2's ankle was rubbing in his shoe which he may possibly be outgrowing (but at least the shoe shop opens next week) so rather than risking a blister and much moaning/ hobbling we did the last bit up to the ridge, ate lunch and came down before driving a very scenic route back through the county.

Brilliant to be out of the house for about 5 hours and completely out of sight of my area. DS1 (9)uttered the words "that's a beautiful view" which made my heart melt a little and our education for the day involved U/ V/ hanging valleys and explaining the protesting and statue incident from the radio news headlines.

Orangeblossom78 · 08/06/2020 17:33

Late place mark, hello Cake and Brew

TheGreatWave · 08/06/2020 17:48

My GP surgery has been doing telephone triage for a few years, to be fair it works quite well. Speak to them, either solve it over the phone or get an appointment (well in normal times)

DH rang the other week and he just had to send a photo of the sore area on his toe.
