The only innocent party in this was Madeline. She was left alone and she vanished.

Too many fuck ups by the police, too many inconsistencies within statements. I do t think we will ever find our what happened to that poor child. She is the only innocent party here.

Jane Tanna, one of the tapas group, saw a man walk across the road in front of her carrying a child across the road ahead of her (left to right). He was walking away from the McCann's apartment. He was later ruled out (announced on Crimewatch by the lead investigator) as a man came forward saying it was him that was carrying his daughter from the night crèche back to his apartment. The only issue was with this was that he would have been walking back from the night creche which was on the right and going to the left side of the road. But he'd kept his daughters pyjamas and still had the same clothes that matched JTs description so this sighting was ruled out.

The other sighting was by Mr Smith and his family (they were Irish) of a man carrying a child like how Gerry had carried one of the twins off the plane. Mr Smith later said he was 80 % sure it was Gerry McCann but then later changed his statement to say it wasn't. Also it couldn't have been GM because this would have been at the time the alarm was raised.

Wasn’t that the basic conclusion of the initial Portuguese police investigation led by Amaral Blanche. He wrote a book on it.

The details here about the Skype chat, the missing German child, & the lack of proper investigation are chilling.

There was children’s clothing in his accommodation but nobody thought that worth pursuing

Why was this man extradited to Germany for crimes he committed in Portugal? OR have I got that wrong?

He was extradited from Italy in connection with something else, and then charged & convicted with the Portugal rape.
EU law apparently says you should only be charged with the crime you were extradited for in the first place, which is what the appeal is about, & might let him be freed.
(To answer your question though - I don’t know!)

Jesus wept. That's a heart sinking article. WTAF they found little girls clothing inside his house and just figured oh well?! They closed the investigation after only 4 weeks of looking for that poor German child? WHAT!?

There seems to be a whole load of oversights not just in Madeleine’s disappearance but in other investigations too. Is it just a learned culture or is it a financial restraints thing? Why wouldn’t they follow up on finding children’s clothes on the home of a man they were investigating for child abduction? It makes no sense.

Interestingly the Portuguese chief detective who was later thrown off the case and discredited gave an interview for an Australian podcast in April 2019 saying a German suspect, who had been investigated and his ‘caravan’ taken to Germany for forensic testing in 2008, would be used as a ‘scapegoat’ to wind up the investigation. Not mentioned in the MS media but quite a few reports on it.

According to what I’ve read, he was investigated. His van was forensically tested in Germany and nothing was found at the time Giant.
