Haha @Jeds55 I loved that movie when it first came out. Must have been 19ish? Thought it was great. Watched recently and was soooo bored

Lost in translation is the smuggest of films it is so pleased with itself, but it is just dull. Sourdough is rank and a hoha to make my bil was telling me about fermentation blah blah what a faff!

Lost in Translation is boring, pretentious and racist. Really don't see the point of it at all. I remember sitting in the cinema with my dad and us both cringing every time the main characters essentially just laughed at Japanese people for being Japanese, speaking with a Japanese accent etc. Baffling and the two main characters come across as a right pair of twats. But I have friends who say it's their favourite film - and they're nice people so I must be missing something?

Yeah, I get your point @SonEtLumiere - I guess it'd be better if the film combined that with some humanification (yes I made that word up) of the Japanese people. Otherwise it is just treating a whole country/people like a set or props. Makes me v uneasy. Would you be happy watching it with a Japanese friend?
