Something just moved in my stomach..

Ohshitx · 24/05/2020 17:44

I’ve name changed for this.

Something literally just rolled in my stomach, there was a popping sensation and now I swear I have a bump where I didn’t before. Nothing that strange until I mention that I’ve not had sex since November and I’ve had periods since then. But something is moving in my stomach, and not like trapped wind. I’ll get out for a test first thing, but I surely can’t be that many weeks pregnant and not have had a single symptom till now, surely? Please someone tell me I can’t.

Everyone is congratulating you OP, assuming this is good news, but it's ok if you're not happy about this.

Ohshitx · 25/05/2020 16:16

I’m not, not happy. I don’t know what I am. Shocked. Scared. I need to figure out how to have a conversation that I don’t know where to begin. I need to phone the doctor, book a private scan. Find out if everything is ok.

Congrats op, assuming this is a good thing.

I’ve got a holiday booked for September (obviously COVID dependent) My sons birthday is in August. We have a UK break in October.

None of these plans include a newborn. What I do know is I couldn’t give a baby up for adoption. So I suppose the decision is made, I’m having a baby. In 12 weeks.

Mooey89 · 25/05/2020 16:21

I can’t I imagine how shocked you must be.
Take time for whatever you’re feeling.
Take care OP.

HauntedGoatFart · 25/05/2020 16:22

I'd give yourself some time to process this evening. If you know the date of the most likely sex, can you narrow down your due date? Then call your GP surgery in the morning and ask their advice. I imagine the midwives will want to see you soonest to establish gestation and get you under their care. Worry about the conversation with the father later.

Do you have previous DC? Do you have any of the practical bits you need?

Aquamarine1029 · 25/05/2020 16:24

Is the baby's father still in the picture?

Ohshitx · 25/05/2020 16:31

I have nothing. I was so sure after DS that there would be no more I got rid of everything. So that’s another thing.

He’s still in the picture, he just doesn’t know yet 😫. I think it’s good advice to get sorted with midwives first and take it from there. I know the rough date but unsure how to work it out from there. Is it 9 months from that?

VisionQuest · 25/05/2020 16:31

Bloody hell OP. Of course you're scared, this is huge, huge news.

You'll need some time to get your head around this.

SpringSpringTime · 25/05/2020 16:32

I don't think you'll need to get a private scan - the NHS should definitely offer one! Call your GP first thing. And ask about emergency counselling - mention that you're considering adoption. I don't know what will be on offer in your area but it's worth a try.

SpringSpringTime · 25/05/2020 16:32

How old is your son, by the way?

mnahmnah · 25/05/2020 16:35

@Ohshitx

Work out 38 weeks from the conception date for your due date. Humans gestate first 38 weeks, not 40. The extra two weeks are to allow for dating from last period

Aquamarine1029 · 25/05/2020 16:35

Oh, op, this is just crazy. You are going to be in shock for days and days, without question. Please be kind to yourself and try to rest. Is there anyone you can talk to right away?

Ohshitx · 25/05/2020 16:36

I’m not considering adoption. It’s not an option to me. My options at this point include basically getting my head round this, and quickly.

DS is 7.

HauntedGoatFart · 25/05/2020 16:38

One step at a time. Get maternity care on the case, find out for sure what gestation you are and check you and baby are healthy. Get your head around things and give yourself time to process. Then when you know when you are due and what you want you can talk to the father. You can get the bare necessities in one shopping trip if needs be, don't worry about that yet.

peachypetite · 25/05/2020 16:46

You don’t need to stress about dates etc. The scan will tell you how far along you are. I would google your hospital now and find the number for community midwives. GP will just slow everything down.

incognitomum · 25/05/2020 16:48

Congratulations. What a shock though!

Where are you? Am sure there'll be mumsnetters nearby who'll help out. And Facebook groups for baby things for give away stuff.

SpringSpringTime · 25/05/2020 16:50

@Ohshitx no, but to get across to them what a massive headfuck this is I think it's worth mentioning! Under three months to a baby you just need all the help you can get.

Good advice from @peachypetite though to skip to the midwives.

L0bstersLass · 25/05/2020 16:52

Good grief. Wishing you the very best of luck OP. I can't imagine how you must be feeling.

lachy · 25/05/2020 16:53

Are you anywhere near Bucks? I just about to have a clear out of the loft and I'm sure there's baby stuff up there. I've definitely got babygrows!

ProseccoSupernova · 25/05/2020 16:54

Can you put the date you last had sex in here and it will give you an Estimate: depending when in November the baby could be due any time from 24th July (based on 1st November conception date) www.whattoexpect.com/due-date-calculator/result/august-22/

IckleBear · 25/05/2020 16:57

Oh what a shock for you, I wouldn't have expected that.

bettertimesarecomingnow · 25/05/2020 17:00

Oh my goodness wow!

WoollyMammouth · 25/05/2020 17:02

I imagine they’ll scan you quite quickly on the NHS.

endofthelinefinally · 25/05/2020 17:04

Oh, bless you OP.
You must be in a state of shock.
I am so sorry.
This does happen. Most midwives will have come across this situation at least once in their career. They will understand and support you.
I had a surprise pregnancy in my 40s. I was shocked, upset, anxious.
That baby turned out to be such a blessing. Not a day goes by when i am not grateful and thankful for that child.
It will work out.
