How keen are you to go to the beauty salon?

When they open again, will you be the first through the doors or are you reluctant to risk it? The only treatments I routinely have are eyebrow waxing and facials - pretty hard to social distance! I'm desperate to go but at the same time don't want someone who's been in close contact with lots of randomers breathing straight into my face!

My brows are out of control and my hair could do with a trim.

I was also given a very generous voucher for a spa for my 30th birthday last week and I’m dying for a good massage.

justjuggling · 19/05/2020 23:47

I’d really like a back massage. Hunching over a lap top at my dining room table all day every day has made my back/neck achey and I’d love a relaxing aromatherapy massage as soon as possible!

AgeLikeWine · 19/05/2020 23:53

You must be joking! I can’t imagine anything worse than going to a beauty salon in normal times, never mind during a pandemic. I can think of a million things I would rather spend my time and money on.

Nicknacky · 19/05/2020 23:56

What’s the point in posting in a thread about beauty salons if you don’t go to them in the first place?

Don’t open it and move onto something you do do. And good for you that you spend your money elsewhere.

ballsdeep · 19/05/2020 23:59

Desperate for my roots to be done. I have them done every 6 weeks and was due the week of lockdown. They have never been so bad. I look like a zebra

ballsdeep · 20/05/2020 00:00

Root re touch is too little to late for my roots . It would be like throwing a deckchair off the Titanic at this point

Chochito · 20/05/2020 12:16

Nicknacky no you put all your belongings in a personal bin bag

Nicknacky · 20/05/2020 12:40

Chochito I just knew you were going to say that, I was just living in hope 😭

I am desperate to go back to my hairdresser/salon. I need full head highlights and a couple of inches cut, Hollywood wax and manicure.

Fortunately I am good with eyebrows so Ihave been doing those myself, but you can bugger off if I am doing the above myself!

HouseOfSticks · 20/05/2020 14:45

I go to my manicure/pedicure/brow ladies house and my Hair dresser comes to me so my only concern is being able to get appointments!

lachy · 20/05/2020 16:09

I'd not long found a fab hairdresser and had only seen her three times. I can't wait to get my hair cut as its in that crazy in between stage at the minute.

I doubt I'll be first through the door, but I won't be far behind.

Mnthrowaway20202 · 20/05/2020 17:24

I genuinely can’t believe it will be at least 7 weeks until I can get an appointment. My roots are the longest they’ve ever been now, god knows what I’ll look like in 7 weeks time!

I haven’t been to the salon since January as my March & June appointments were cancelled. 6 months of regrowth when I normally visit the salon every 10-12 weeks Confused

Joolsin · 20/05/2020 17:33

Not on my radar at all. My DD gave my hair an undercut back in March (hadn't had it cut since July last year), it's brilliant - I just get her to reshave it every 3 weeks or so - might never go back to the hairdresser!! I have only ever been to a beauty salon a couple of times to get a pedicure - I can do without so doubt I'll go back.

Chochito · 20/05/2020 17:35

Nicknacky It is not that boring. They wash your hair, then cut it, so you couldn't read during those bits anyway, then quickly dry it. The appointments are only 25 mins. Also the U.K. might have a different approach.

HeIenaDove · 20/05/2020 17:36

I go every five weeks Im a dark brunette with a lot of grey. My last time in the salon was the 12th March.

I might take the oppurtunity to go for a colour change to light brown Or mid brown so the grey doesnt show up so much in the future.

Nicknacky · 20/05/2020 17:41

Chochito I’m more thinking when when colour is getting done, it wouldn’t bother me during the cut.

FizzyPink · 20/05/2020 19:19

@Chochito are you allowed to have colour done or literally just a cut? I can sit with nothing to do for the cut but my colour means I’m in there for 3 hours so I’m not sure I’d bother if I wasn’t allowed something to read

Chochito · 20/05/2020 19:21

No colour or services like Brazilian blowdry, extension. Just haircuts.

Again, the U.K. might have a different approach.

@HelenaDove you are me. I usually do my roots to maintain a mid-dark brown. Had just let it go during lockdown - such a good opportunity to see how bad the grey really is.

We opened things up last week so I managed to get the first appointment the other day, and she stripped out all the brown and toned it through to an ashy blonde. Now I can let the roots grow and just have it high/low lighted every 2-3 months.

HeIenaDove · 21/05/2020 14:21

@FenceFuckery thats similar to what i want to do. Im going to miss being a dark brunette though (it was jet black when i was a child/teenager) then it went to dark brown on its own and the first greys started in my early twenties.

Now in my forties there is a LOT of grey. Blonde is a no go for me as im half Italian so am naturally dark. I might even be pushing it with light brown so may go for mid brown..

happymummy12345 · 03/06/2020 12:47

I can't to get back. The only things I get done are acrylic nails and eyebrow wax every two weeks.
Miss them both. Last appointment was Thursday 5th March, so 13 weeks ago tomorrow. Nails are still on and in good condition considering how long it's been. And for eyebrows I've been plucking to keep shape and remove strays, which I'm hating.

highmarkingsnowbile · 03/06/2020 12:58

I haven't been in one in years but can definitely see why people are desperate to get back.
