A family member put up a picture of some poor sod kite surfing, the dementors descended like locusts, risk to life, RNLI, coastguard. This family member has form for stirring the pot, he knew exactly what would happen which is why he did it. So glad we do not see much of him.

TheGreatWave · 18/05/2020 19:46

My 14 year old can't go back, that means I would actually have to try and find her some trousers that fit her legs that pretty much go to my armpits.

Nihiloxica · 18/05/2020 19:49

And if there isn’t one?

I don't know, Lilac, and neither does she. She's very down about it. Not dementory at all. No notion that the whole world should stay locked down, just that she wants to be able to go out.

She genuinely is in an extremely high risk group for any infection at all.

DominaShantotto · 18/05/2020 19:50

thegreatwave they’re not wearing uniform, not allowed to wear the previous days clothes either. Glad I didn’t replace the lost school cardigans or summer dresses!

Nihiloxica · 18/05/2020 19:51

They can meet in groups of 6 from Tuesday...is that tomorrow or Tuesday week?

Tomorrow! YAY Grin

ilovecardigans · 18/05/2020 19:52

@FrangipaniBlue I think it's all back to normal for Ringtons, so crack open those triple chocolate cookies!

I got a box of chocolate mallows to go with my tea n' all. Heaven!

ilovecardigans · 18/05/2020 19:58

Yaaay @NUFC69! God - how excited we are over tea, it's mad.

Fellow Toon fan I take it? You poor soul. Grin

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 18/05/2020 20:01

I think my 14yo is becoming a Dementor Sad When I told her the nice ice cream place has reopened she sniffed and said ‘how come it’s allowed? It’s not exactly essential, is it?’
Luckily ds2 said ‘yes it is! Of course ice cream is essential!’

Nihiloxica · 18/05/2020 20:05

‘yes it is! Of course ice cream is essential!’

You have raised him well Grin

Drivingdownthe101 · 18/05/2020 20:06

We got ice cream from the ice cream van today. Haven’t seen my DC so happy in weeks.

TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair · 18/05/2020 20:08

I've just been watching this. It's great - please watch it and share it. The man is an absolute legend. He's so bright and well-respected.

LilacTree1 · 18/05/2020 20:09

Wishing - that’s great but I’d be surprised if YouTube leave it up there much longer

Anti lockdown scientists are being banned from YT.

LilacTree1 · 18/05/2020 20:10

Obviously I didn’t just watch it, I’d seen it already 😂

BakewellTarts · 18/05/2020 20:10

Sadly one of the side effects of this could be a rise in agrophobia. It strikes me that this IS Project Fear.

Ice cream is completely essential as it supporting local businesses you want to survive.

KatsutheClockworkOctopus · 18/05/2020 20:10

That Eton meme has appeared on my fb. Another one for the 30 day snooze - my timeline is getting emptier by the day!

Nihiloxica · 18/05/2020 20:11

Although I am against dementors, I think it is acceptable to be a dementor at 14.

I mean, being miserable and wanting everyone else to share your misery is part of being a teenager.

DamnYankee · 18/05/2020 20:11

@Nihiloxica

Glad I made you Smile. No lockdown here (US). We're slowly getting back out there - one toe at a time.

I know I won't be one of the first ones to get it. (I don't think - but I work deliver speech therapy services at a school - so maybe??) We'll all be getting the flu shot as usual.

However, just really happy to know that smart, "science-y" people are on it and having some positive results.

Never thought I could get so excited about something involving needles

LilacTree1 · 18/05/2020 20:11

Bakewell “ Sadly one of the side effects of this could be a rise in agrophobia.”

Yes. You might have seen me mention a friend who is shielding but has no letter. I really can’t see how she’ll come back from this. She won’t go in the garden if the neighbours are in theirs.

NUFC69 · 18/05/2020 20:12

Cardigan, yes, season ticket holder. Will we ever go back? Will we ever get our money back? I get so angry listening to Premier League footballers talking about the risk of playing again. If they won't play, I would furlough them.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 18/05/2020 20:12

Yes! Found my tribe. Ironically signposted here from a “rival” mum site. Now away to read the whole thread and feel happy I’m honestly not alone as all my friends have gone mental and the ones who I honestly consider to be totally normal are in the full on WEAR A FACE MASK/ DONT TAKE YOUR KID TO MARKIES ITLL GET KAWASAKI

BakewellTarts · 18/05/2020 20:16

@Nihiloxica fair point well made!

@LilacTree1 that is very sad. Life isn't risk free and there are many other viruses which you can die of. I hope your friend finds a way back.

I shouldn't read schools threads. I have two DDs neither is coping well with the isolation from their friends and one very anxious about transition. But their mental health and wellbeing doesn't matter. Or is minimised as "playing with their friends". Sad particularly in Mental Health Awareness Week.

Nihiloxica · 18/05/2020 20:18

Welcome PaulHollywood

TheGreatWave · 18/05/2020 20:22

Dom My yr 3 one changed schools in September, we moved two years ago but kept them at the old school as #2 was about to go into yr 6. The uniform is a different colour and I managed to get some summer dresses in the markes sale - they are hanging all unloved in my wardrobe.

The big one has a seriously long legs and a thin waist, I can get the leg length but then they fall down round her ankles or I can get the waist but then she has them halfway up her legs.

Own clothes would be so much easier.

Cattermole · 18/05/2020 20:29

So DS has been offered a place at school as soon as I have a firm date for going back into the office. (Which is imminent, apparently.)
I said, I thought you would be more excited about going back to school? And he said rather sadly yes mummy but I'm frightened that people might be cross with you for going out to work, or cross with me for going to school, if they think we should be staying at home.

Oh the poor little bugger.

Orangeblossom78 · 18/05/2020 20:30

Has anyone else noticed the amount of cleaning adverts on TV now? Just seen one form Dyson going on about deep cleaning...lots of others too. I think there might be an increase in OCD type behaviours- we already had that weird cleaning craze before all this didn't we, hinting or something Confused
