In a (small teeny tiny) way I am lucky in as much my DC are the wrong ages for going back to school, so I can just waft away any discussions with the fact that it doesn't really effect me - chicken's way out I know, but it is easier.

whoopso · 19/05/2020 14:32

"Ah, the “it’s not even a REAL lockdown!” types.

Personally I’m quite happy that we’ve managed to drastically lower infection and death rates without resorting to welding people inside their houses"

Erm me too, so much healthier for all of us. There's no need for all this drama and agonising when we don't live in Wuhan. That's exactly my point Confused

CruCru · 19/05/2020 14:33

I spoke to my brother yesterday and we had a most delicious rant about how rubbish lockdown is and how much we love Lord Sumption. He and his wife had antibody tests yesterday - he said that if they show that they've had coronavirus, they are off to visit some family next weekend. They haven't seen anyone else in person (apart from each other and shopkeepers) for two months.

The Times appears to be very in favour of people going back to work and school. I think the press have been told to encourage the general public (who were frightened witless a few weeks ago) to start getting back to normal.

Drivingdownthe101 · 19/05/2020 14:34

TheGreatWave I have one in year 1 and one in reception, I’m right in the thick of it 😩

GoldenOmber · 19/05/2020 14:34

Great, thanks for that, I’ll just tell my children to belt up because at least nobody’s welded them in their rooms yet. That is as we all know the best approach to children’s mental health.

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 19/05/2020 14:39

I'm off to the garden centre. Not going to be as fun as I want it to bed because they've all got a two persons per household rule (is that the law or have they all just made it up?) so I'm going to go round with DD1, while DH drives round and round nearby with dd2 in her car seat. But at least I'll be out and contributing to the murder rate. I mean the economy. Sorry, slip of the thumb.

Drivingdownthe101 · 19/05/2020 14:39

Why on earth would you go on a long standing thread (is this around the 6th one) of people who are supporting each other and start throwing insults around?
Don’t like what you’re reading? Off you fuck then.

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 19/05/2020 14:39

New thread needed soon!!

whoopso · 19/05/2020 14:39

How about not being so dramatic in the first place?

We looked at the positives and they've always known that places won't be closed for very long. Seriously, unless you aren't safe at home there is very little need for a 4 year old to "descend into anger and malaise". And if she's seriously that bad then take her to see a friend or relative that is willing.

justasking111 · 19/05/2020 14:40

You want to know why north Wales is just reaching its peak and you will not hear this anywhere else. Betsi cadwaladr board did not report figures for a month, and Wales only just started testing for positives up here. One nursing home near me 40 positive tests for residents plus those for staff. You will be glad to know that the residents and staff are all doing ok.

They are playing with stats to cover their ass, meanwhile other parts of Wales with stupidly low figures are stuck with the results

Harass? Jesus, calm down 🥴

Bollss · 19/05/2020 14:44

Oh bore off.

GoldenOmber · 19/05/2020 14:45

Thanks for that whoopso, I’ll give my toddler a pep talk about looking at the positives in life. Her language skills aren’t exactly great yet but I’m sure she’ll stop missing the people she loves if I present her with a set of slides about the lovely family time! we’re all having right now.

Bollss · 19/05/2020 14:46

I've wandered into a world of mummy's little princes and PFBs though clearly

Or just people who give a shit about their children?

No PFBing here let me tell you.

But please. Leave us to it.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 19/05/2020 14:47

I’m in Scotland @whoopso

Let me tell you about what we are dealing with:

A 4 year old who evidently needs a level of education and stimulation we cannot meet anymore.

A 2 year old who needs constant supervision as his love of water and pens and generally anything he can squish or scribble in a rented house we have to give back in October.

A 1 year old who is learning to walk but needs to be guarded against whacking her chin off anymore fireplaces (that was yesterday)

Two PT (4 days) working parents

One working for the NHS and the other Police and neither classed as key workers meaning our colleagues south of the border get childcare but our council says no

Lockdown where we are in being extended for weeks meaning we have no hope of being able to really look at somewhere to live until potentially July and the anxiety around that.

Our daughter facing the real prospect of not getting to start P1 with her chums in August as she may be bumped to January if our council gets its wish.

And finally our baby waking at 5am and the last child going to sleep at 8pm as their routines are starting to warp even though we are keeping to them.

But please - don’t let the truth get in the way of a good story. That’s the last you’ll be hearing from me.

I have the Blind Date theme stuck in my head again now.

GoldenOmber · 19/05/2020 14:52

Ooooh thanks, I’ll add “get over yourself it’s a normal part of life” to the toddler PowerPoint slides.

Not everyone’s having a lovely cuddly #makingmemories time in lockdown, you know? Not everyone is loving the alone time. Plenty of children are really really struggling (and worse in some homes), and it costs you nothing at all to at least give a fractional bit of a fuck about them.

whoopso · 19/05/2020 14:52

Ffs. Maybe you should get this long standing thread to hide somewhere other than in active threads.

Very sensitive souls. I simply commented that we don't all have to gaily skip through life. Life's hard sometimes. Get on with it

My kid have now been sent a load of be kind stuff as apparently here in Wales it's mental health week.

They laughed at me ranting - I told them be kind is so often a way to dimsiss/burden women and young girls - be polite, be considerate as we expect you to be but swearword be kind.

It's not doing anything about actual mental health issues either.

With our youngest last years school was trying to say to the kids was be kind and don't excude people who are different just because they are different but what they told the kids and sent home in homework and letters was if someone is making you feel uncomfortable ignore it and be kind.

Betsi cadwaladr board did not report figures for a month

I read news reports that said they reported them but not to the national system everyone else was using and Welsh Government expected to be used - they apparently decided to report them somewhere else and no-one noticed in Government or asked any questions.

It's just yet another thing that makes me worry about the Welsh Governmenst ablity to handle well anything really.
