Also laughing at the media reports of "packed" tubes this morning. Looking at the photos they look almost empty compared to a normal London rush hour pre coronavirus.

Alsohuman · 11/05/2020 13:14

I’m beginning to think the lockdown is worse than the virus. Extreme dementoring seems to be the product of poor mental heath. That and the economic consequences are going to be around for a very long time.

BarkandCheese · 11/05/2020 13:14

What do all the “your life is more important than money” lot propose to do when the money runs out? I don’t just mean their personal money, but all the money, you can protect the NHS all your like by staying at home, but ultimately it’s working people’s tax which is funding it.

LilacTree1 · 11/05/2020 13:15

Oh those Tube reports.

Union dementors really scare me. They are determined to keep everyone out of work and crash the economy to an even greater extent.

LilacTree1 · 11/05/2020 13:17

Alsohuman “ I’m beginning to think the lockdown is worse than the virus.”

I’ve always thought this, especially as a vulnerable person. It was insanity from the start.

Meanwhile, you are allowed to come in and out from France with no checks. I bet some MNers will get the Eurostar to get a haircut.

Orangeblossom78 · 11/05/2020 13:17

You can see in the legislation the places they told to close here www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2020/350/schedule/2

other places just closed themselves..so actually there isn't much change in the workplaces allowed to open anyway. It's not that confusing.

But there seems to be huge drama over it all

SomewhereEast · 11/05/2020 13:17

Personally I'm not actually "Yay lockdown begone!", much though I hate it. I support the idea of a gradual easing of restrictions accompanied (hopefully!) by vastly increased testing and strong support for the at risk (the really at risk). But I also think we need more awareness of the relatively low risk posed to a clear majority of under-60s and of the massive collateral damage months' of severe restrictions will store up.

Orangeblossom78 · 11/05/2020 13:18

The teaching unions are on about disinfecting children at the school gates or something. Sounds grim.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 11/05/2020 13:19

Ugh I've already seeing petitions being shared about keeping the schools closed and telling teachers to go on strike.

MorrisZapp · 11/05/2020 13:20

The lifetime homeschoolers are Billy Bullshit anyway. The thought that other people's kids could be socialising, learning and forging new friendship groups while theirs draw more rainbows for the window will galvanise them. As will their husbands.

Drivingdownthe101 · 11/05/2020 13:20

Waxonwaxoff0 the school stuff is driving me insane. Don’t want your children to go back? Then don’t send them back. But why deny everyone else the option?

DrearyWallAntler · 11/05/2020 13:20

I die a little inside whenever I see 'oh the roads are packed' 'back to normal' or whatever.

They aren't. They really really aren't.
All the numbers say that road usage is (or rather was) 60% below normal.

But whatever. Facts and numbers are irrelevant in a dementors world.

I know a patronus is supposed to be a living creature, but in this post fact world mine is my venerable Casio FX-82.

Someone shared this image on FB this morning about angles photographers are using to get the “packed” images.

@LilacTree1 I'd love a trip to Paris to get my hair done 😃

Springersrock · 11/05/2020 13:22

Shit, sorry.

Try again. This image.

@Springersrock

So many questions... Grin

thesuninsagittarius · 11/05/2020 13:23

@MzHz I know exactly what you mean. ExH and his wife are all over Facebook, 'ooh look at us making scrubs for the NHS!' Why not just do it and keep quiet about it? But nooooo they wouldn't get any applause and admiring comments then. So their gurning mugs are plastered all over social media. Ugh.
I feel quite low and tired today. I'm tired of looking at closed shops and shut pubs. I'm tired of walking through the park and seeing all the benches taped up. I'm tired of the hysteria and needless panic. I'm tired of the fuckwits who still think you shouldn't walk past someone without leaping into the road. My heart sinks further when I think about the parents who have been left in impossible positions with childcare, schools etc. The people whose mental health is crumbling. The people who need medical help for THINGS THAT ARE NOT COVID. I was quite ambivalent about lockdown until this past week; I think it needs to end now. The risk is minute compared to the need to get things going again. I don't care if that makes me selfish and a murderer. My mental health is deteriorating day by day and I know I'm far from the only one.

MorrisZapp · 11/05/2020 13:24

Dementors last week: This isn't lockdown, why are people calling it lockdown? Everyone is doing as they please!

Dementors this week: They're trying to kill us by lifting this lockdown!

BarkandCheese · 11/05/2020 13:28

It’s 100% BS that the roads are back to normal. I live just off what’s normally a very busy A road, it’s often gridlock at peak travel times. It’s slightly busier than it was a couple of weeks ago granted, but by that I mean I now might have to wait for a car or two to go past before I can pull out rather than drive straight out. I often used to have to wait until someone used the pedestrian crossing and the lights went red before I could get out, in fact there were times I contemplated jumping out of my car, running down to the crossing, pressing the button and running back because I’d been waiting so long to get out.

Therulerofmyhouse · 11/05/2020 13:30

@Cattermole it's a shame to say that type of behaviour is becoming more and more common and not just wrt Cv19.
There are so many sections of society that, instead of engaging in healthy respectful debate would rather shut down any discussion should it not tally completely with their views; sad times indeed 😞

heroku · 11/05/2020 13:31

That accidental chicken in a helmet picture really made me laugh. Thanks @Springersrock

My patronus is now officially a chicken in a sparkly gold cycle helmet

BarkandCheese · 11/05/2020 13:34

I missed the chicken picture because I was too busy posting. I too have many questions, not least why you have this image saved Grin .

Waxonwaxoff0 · 11/05/2020 13:34

@Springersrock I laughed out loud at the chicken picture!

OutwardBound2016 · 11/05/2020 13:36

I have a teacher friend sounding off on social media about how she’s not going back to work/not sending her DC to her part of an experiment....whilst also posting photos of her mixing households, people are happy to adapt the roolz to suit themselves whilst telling others that they are wrong for following the actual roolz. I really hope the government take a tough line against teachers posting shit on social media and refusing to return to work, if they don’t want a job I’m sure some other poor bastard who has been made redundant will take it instead.

HauntedGoatFart · 11/05/2020 13:39

"Chicken in a crash helmet" is actually a wonderful metaphor for a Dementor Grin
