@Stopmenow123 the logic (or lack of it) is so frustrating. That train of thought could be applied to any situation in everyday life.

Gone abroad and contracted an exotic disease that requires ongoing treatment when you get home? Played football/rugby/gone running and injured yourself? Had a night out where you got a bit tipsy and went over on your ankle? Drove your car and had an accident where you became injured? All of this takes up hospital resource - time, money, staff, beds.

That may be the same or a similar poster who was posting yesterday about how everyone will end up knowing someone who died from COVID because 'we all know everyone knows more than a thousand people, think about everyone you went to school with and so on'.

A) Even with my entire family, friends, people i've gone to school with, people i've worked with etc. I don't 'know' over a thousand people.

B) Those people saying they 'know' so many people who died from COVID possibly mean 'Clare who I went to school with 20 years ago and haven't seen since, I saw on FB her Dad died of it'.

If my downstairs neighbour dies of CV, I knew OF her. I didn't know her.

Have taken on a dementor who was raging about boats in the river and out at sea. Well um. the harbour office are taking care of all the moorings, those with fishing licences are going out fishing to put food on our plates/earn a living. The wind farm folk are back and forth day and night looking after our windmills. But hey ho the dementors demand all that stops.

One of my close friends died of a rare form of cancer late last year aged 28. He was told that the drugs being used in the US were too expensive and so he wouldn't get that treatment on the NHS. Less than 6 months later everyone is now bleating on about raising money for the NHS and "if it saves one life". Even the government are doing this "money is no object, we have to do whatever it takes" thing. Where was this last year?! Why do elderly covid patients suddenly matter so much more than young people with cancer?

Weeds that sounds lovely. Funny how all the people who were having fun on VE Day without killing the entire neighbourhood never get mentioned on here.
How many threads are there on here asking who you have seen breaking lock down and what were they doing? They are obsessed with what other people are doing. Get a fucking life! (Mine is beyond boring and pathetic most of the time but i still dont give a shiney what my neighbours are doing)

My friends mum is in a McCarthy Stone flat which she purchased, the manager has taken it upon herself to be a dementor, when her daughter also single and isolated takes her shopping in to the block the manager goes nuts if she does not drop shopping then cut and run. Mum is dying of loneliness in that flat after two months.

Discussing flu is giving them the Rage Lilac, they think we haven't died of it in large numbers in years, total denial, and that a vaccine is there for it anyway (tried to tell them of how it is guesswork and there are different strains etc).

Maybe best leave them too it methinks.

OH thinks FO FO I have decided to take them on because of this thread, not family individuals but the local groups, I just mention dementors and put up an image of one. Great fun.

Who do these 'managers' think they are. Could the mum go out meet daughter on a walk perhaps, they can't stop her going out.

They had a good dementor image on Mumsnet Madness weeks ago when they started, looked quite like Mrs Doyle from Father Ted

Well you think they would know by now the amount of obsessing they have been doing about it! Maybe they have stayed home so long their brains are turing to mush?

I reckon I’ve reached peak dementoring today. I can’t take anymore. My Koala patronus is weak... their soul sapping powers are too strong.

The flu thread has astounded me. I get that it is in some ways dissimilar to flu. But to think flu doesn't kill people anymore as we have a vaccine is just so naive.

Surely most of us know of an old person who has died of pneumonia

I write (mostly)replies then delete them because whats the use? i have realised i just get sucked into debate with someone who will twist everything even what they just said 5 minutes ago to suit thier own idiotic ideas. Once they state something as 'fact' no matter how many people disprove it they just cant dont want to see it. My blood pressure is worth more than their 2 brain cells.😉

And don't get me started on their obsession and hysteria with infection rates rising in Spain/Italy/Germany now lockdown has lifted.
Well yes, it was always going to happen, my understanding is that everyone knows and accepts this will happen and it's about managing the rate of increase....why is this a huge surprise and why does it mean we need to stay locked down FOREVER!!!

Hello from the hospital, where I'm busy taking up valuable NHS time and resources

I just spotted on the old thread somebody's post about a dementor listing all the people she knows who've died from it. If it's accurate that's super sad...but also incredibly unlucky! I know several people who've had it, only one who has had it badly (and even then just going on for ages, not requiring hospitalisation), including a colleague of DH who has Crohn's Disease (sp?) and is on immunosuppressive treatment - but still had it fairly mildly and recovered totally after 10 days. And this is London, in one of the boroughs (H&F) where there have been high numbers of cases.

A heartening story - a former colleague's husband had it very badly and he was on a ventilator. He had other health issues but was in his 40s. He went home from hospital 2 weeks ago now and is doing really well.

I'm desperate to hear the announcement tonight! Just want to know what's happening with schools and things. It will be good to be able to plan, whatever the outcome.

I'm staying in hospital for the rest of the day to have an US on my spleen and a ton of blood tests done; if I am passed as fit then my poisoning chemo restarts tomorrow.

I've came up with a few Fuck You songs that I sing in my head while reading the plethora of Dementor threads on MN. One is to the tune of Let It Go and another to the Blind Date theme.(No idea why that popped into my head) I'm working on one or two others at present. It's very satisfying.

And I think the emphasis in that story is "if its accurate". I strongly doubt it.

My nice lodger has just said she is very worried about the 5G masts proposed to go up nearby. Then there is a world conspiracy including a network of powerful people including Bill Gates. Meanwhile we are kept in isolation and ignorance. Or something.
