And also @Jourdain11 good luck for your treatment xx

DominaShantotto · 10/05/2020 10:42

The dementors will quite happily throw this generation of children under the bus (or lock them up in a tower) with no money to pay for CAHMS to repair the psychological damage afterwards - as long as they can sit on their arses in their big gardens on furlough pay indefinitely now.

That thread is pretty much hate speech against small children - on MUMSnet?!

Topseyt · 10/05/2020 10:43

I have been reading that Boris Johnson looks like changing his slogan from "stay home" to "stay alert" tonight.

How will the dementors and the curtain twitching local stasi deal with that? It might blunt their coveted "stay the fuck at home" tool.

I'm anticipating that we might need to tweak the bingo card when we see how it pans out.

TheGreatWave · 10/05/2020 10:44

They're trying to tell us that Ribena, Nectar of the Gods, is not magic medicine that can cure all ills.

It is so.

DominaShantotto · 10/05/2020 10:45

They're distraught and melting down over the change to "stay alert" and the loss of the red and yellow DANGER DANGER DANGER YOU WILL DIE! colour scheme.

I suggested it would become teal and yellow while taking the piss earlier in the week - was soooo right.

Elmerrrrrrrr · 10/05/2020 10:46

What is this thread on children people are referring to? I haven't seen it

Mustbetimeforachange · 10/05/2020 10:49

@DianneWhatcock, that's why all these idiots not leaving their houses when they are unfit will regret not leaving the house for months on end because THE VIRUS is lurking at their from door ready to leap on them. It's just plain unhealthy. As I've said many times on here, DH is one of the most vulnerable of the shielded & he enjoys his daily tramp through the woods & fields as well as the odd bike ride (sometimes both in one day Shock).

SpnBaby1967 · 10/05/2020 10:49

My patrons is a Quokka, those guys are just happy no matter what!

I have friends all declaring they want to move to scotland now, but I know if Boris says black Nicola would say white so i dont trust her decisions have been about protecting scotland so much as needing to push a narrative that they need to be independent because look how much better off we are.

My little town has the highest death rate for our area (which incidentally has had zero deaths for a week now) and on the face of it looks worrying to an outsider the uneducated but we also have 5 care homes in our little town, and 3 sheltered housing schemes and all bar one death has occurred in those. Its desperately sad that these people have died, but something has to be said for the panic spreading on our local FB page which is nonsensical.

I'm also enjoying the "I looked out my window and saw HUNDREDS of families or 5 people OR MORE walking through the high street, I thought I'd missed the social distancing had been lifted annoucement" yet when people point out that to get to all our open countryside walks we have to access it via the ends of the high street (and another road that leads off said high street) rather than just walking round and round an estate, you're met with hysterics. Surely its better to head off to our ample, easy to SD countryside walks than around your local housing estate?

thesuninsagittarius · 10/05/2020 10:51

Hello all, so glad the anti-dementor squad is still going strong. It's so sad to read how many children are struggling, I really feel for you all. Mental health provision is a bit of a lottery anyway, depending on where you live. I hope you can all get the help you need, and that schools go back very soon.
My patronus is a tapir, I absolutely love them, and their babies like little stripy marrows!
I'm trying to keep depression and anxiety at bay. I'm not worried about the virus, I'm scared by the way it's turned people into arseholes. I have inflammatory bowel disease and trying to cope with a flare up currently. But it's not Covid so I'm not allowed to moan about it.
Here's hoping we get some rationality and sanity in the PM's thing this evening.
@Jourdain11 all the best for your treatment, we are all with you xxx

yellowbrickwhorl · 10/05/2020 10:51

Hello, can I come in please, I think I have found my people Grin

Mascotte · 10/05/2020 10:52

In all seriousness, has anyone really thought that B&Q is dangerous for children?

Mascotte · 10/05/2020 10:52

Sometimes I doubt myself

justasking111 · 10/05/2020 10:55

Saw a nursing sister on fb this morning apparently VE day meant the usual drunk related admissions in her hospital so expect an outbreak of covid in a couple of weeks she ranted.

Shodan · 10/05/2020 10:55

@Jourdain11 Good luck today

Can I have a quick rant about the BAME thing? My partner is BAME and people are talking to me as if there's the grim reaper standing outside our door. My partner is in his 30s, very slim, fit and healthy with no underlying health conditions (haha I sound like I'm showing off here Wink). But in all seriousness, people seem to think that if you're not white you're basically in the same category as an 80 year old with COPD. It's ridiculous.

I'm tired of explaining to people that no - people of African ethnicity and people of South Asian ethnicity do not have the same genes. The human race is not split into white people and non-white people. Agh!

Tappering · 10/05/2020 10:58

@yellowbrickwhorl - come in all are most welcome!!

We're not allowed to name threads - and I'm sticking religiously to the rules in case MN pull this thread, which I think is helping keep some of us from losing the plot completely.
But basically children shouldn't be allowed anywhere in case they spread Covid due to their lack of social distancing ability. Where to start? That the evidence doesn't suggest that they are super spreaders; that we have already chosen to curtail their freedoms, rights, health and education for the sake of a baying minority who want everyone to be locked down until we discover the secret of immortality; that Covid poses them and many parents a tiny risk. It's utterly unbearable.
(though actually I'm not too keen on other people's screaming childre running around in restaurants! and mine will be lucky to get through the weekend alive if the refusal to do homework doesn't change in the next 30 seconds!)

Bollss · 10/05/2020 11:00

In all seriousness, has anyone really thought that B&Q is dangerous for children?

Our house is mid Reno. Our child has gone to b&q more times than most people I imagine. He has never impailed himself on the wood sticking out of someone's trolly I can assure you Grin

Mascotte · 10/05/2020 11:02

Thanks, @TrustTheGeneGenie I was really feeling quite weird there 😂😂

TheGreatWave · 10/05/2020 11:04

Yes I've seen that shared multiple times (not sure if each one has the same origin) Why is everyone going to be dropping dead in 2 weeks time?

Zoidbergonthehalfshell · 10/05/2020 11:05

@fartingsparkles - I wonder, is it better to be a lert or a loof? Grin

Drivingdownthe101 · 10/05/2020 11:05

In all seriousness, has anyone really thought that B&Q is dangerous for children?

No. Not at all! Also (and I don’t really know how to phrase this without looking like I’m bragging... I’m not), my children are pretty well behaved! They wouldn’t go running around aisles bounding into other people’s trolleys and coughing on people. I keep seeing on MN ‘children are disgusting and unhygienic’ and ‘children can’t be trusted to stay 2m from someone’. Well... mine aren’t disgusting and generally do as they’re told! I feel like it’s part of some weird narrative around keeping all children locked at home with no school because they’re disgusting little reprobates.

SomewhereEast · 10/05/2020 11:09

Can I recommend the fucking awesome 'snooze for 30 days' Facebook feature to anyone who hasn't heard of it? Its great if you've got a normally sensible friend who has gone a bit dementory.

TazSyd · 10/05/2020 11:10

The mumsnet posts after tonight’s 7pm announcement might be fun. Especially if he announces some restrictions are going to be eased Smile.
