I reported a post that basically told someone her mental health isn’t important. Sadly, she’d probably read it before it was deleted. I was also told off last night by someone who hopes I get the virus because I argued with her made up rules. I really wonder if there’s another virus doing the rounds that makes people completely deranged.

One of the nice things about the pub is that it's a low-pressure way to be around other people.

Now you know the Dementors of today are the teetotal, vegan, 8st. at 5ft.,8in, 'ALL smokers/vapers, fat people, people who don't eat 'clean, and users of cannabis will DIE gruesome deaths and should not be given NHS treatment' MNers of yesterday. They would not be in a pub except a gastro one with at least one Michelin star, where they were having a poncy meal quaffing sparkling water (because people who so much as sniff alcohol after becoming parents should have social services involvement) outside in the garden on a sunny day until a smoker lit up and literally, of course, blew smoke into their children's faces so they had to leave after telling the smoker what a murderer they are and demanding a full refund, naturally.

Well one good thing about the dementors is that once pubs and restaurants open again we'll be less likely to have to fight for a table as the dementors will all still be in Azkaban with their milton tweeting about body bags.

Not sure but my sister is making them. It's interesting though that the order they had from the contracting company has now been revised down.

@LivinLaVidaLoki somebody commented that they will be travelling when it is safe to do so and perhaps vulnerable people should continue to shield. The immediate reply was "so vulnerable people should just stay at home for the rest of the year because YOU want to travel?"

I mean, you could argue the flip side of that. Why should the rest of us put our lives on hold for months/years to protect people that we don't even know?

People seem a lot angrier and overwrought today

Maybe could be as there is the announcement tomorrow. More freedom= more angst and uncertainty driving the dementing possibly.

A few days ago it seemed to have improved on here, I thought the virus area seemed a bit more reasonable anyway but it has gone downhill again in general

Why should you put your life on hold to protect people you don't even know?

Well first that's a tad dramatic isn't it? Some aspects of your life may be on hold but most people are finding ways to make the best of a bad job

Did you know the midwife who delivered your baby before you had it?
Do you know the farmer who grew the lamb or chicken that will be your Sunday dinner?
What about the lorry driver that took the spare parts to the zoo/theme park/cafe that you want to get back to

You don't know the people who you depend on for your way of life.
Act stupid now, and you may find you have effectively killed your way of life through your careless selfish attitude

I can't do the food shop because we have a baby.
Translation I won't do shopping but resent my husband leaving the house.

@Orangeblossom78 - I suspect the MH of a large number of posters is pretty poor. Some acknowledge this, but I read it into a lot of posts - I may well be wrong, as ever. Rolling new and social media make things a lot worse: people aren't forced to give themselves a break, so they just obsess constantly. Some of the posts on here from people convinced they will die are just incredibly sad.

@TinRoofRusty - yes, some people just don't understand low-pressure sociability. Everything has to be Productive or Meaningful.

I'm finding it too hard to pick so am agreeing with @AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter as those are all SO DRAMATIC

This thread is making me feel so much better! I honestly thought I was going mad reading some of the stuff on here.
I posted on a thread early doors about it being sad for children giving up school and their social lives ... well I'm sure you can imagine the responses. Some posters agreed it was sad, but most were just calling us stupid, selfish, and all the rest.

I still feel so unbelievably sorry for children in all of this and am not surprised that some posters are reporting being seriously worried about their children's mental wellbeing.

everythingisginandroses it's interesting, I go on an app called Elefriends which is from Mind, where people with depression etc and other MH help and support each other, it is like a breath of fresh air compared to MN and these are people with diagnosed MH problems...seem to have much more self awareness and kindness

There was someone (not sure if scientist) o news recently saying that potentially uber the ice caps were lots of dormant extinct germs from centuries ago and if they melted these would be out in the open and we would have no immunity to them.

Oh and schools threads too.... they can't open and maintain social distancing, so no discussion allowed at all about what the potential reasonable solutions could be? Oh no, that's implying teachers are lazy - no it's not! Its asking what schools are going to do as part of the solution.

No but I do know the assistant zoo keeper that hasn't been allowed to see "her" animals as it's only the qualified keepers going in. Her MH is not good and her job was one of the things that helped, so the sooner the zoo is open the better. I've had to organise a funeral for my mum because of covid, I don't want to have to do the same for my daughter because of lockdown thank you very much.

It would make a blockbuster film screenplay! I can see it now- Bruce Willis as a retired, alcoholic polar explorer with personal problems asked by the government to come out of retirement to save the world. His estranged ex wife, angelina jolie, just happens to be an epidemiologist specialising in glacier movements who has to join forces with him to save the world and at the same time, save their relationship!
