What's good on Netflix that isn't crime, murder, drugs etc?

I'm fed up with crime in all its forms, including the documentaries like Tiger King and Don't F**k With Cats. I also dislike most fantasy and superhero stuff. I've just watched Unorthodox which I loved, and I realised that what I want to watch at the moment is human stories, social and emotional dramas and historical things. What else is there on Netflix for me that I might enjoy? Thank you.

The Good Place
After Life

Mascotte · 26/04/2020 08:46

Schitts’ Creek is brilliant and very distracting in troubled times.

Mascotte · 26/04/2020 08:47

Oops, it’s a comedy drama though.

I've only watched the queen and Anne with an e.
Two people have been raving about afterlife to me so I'll check that out.
Oh I tell a lie I'm watching ru Paul's drag race season 12. I recommend the madonna episode.

Megan2018 · 26/04/2020 08:50

Agree with After Life and The Good Place
I am just finishing Anne with an E which is very relaxing!

NewYearNewTwatName · 26/04/2020 08:50

Alias Grace
The good place
I Tonya

I've watched loads more but can't bloody remember them.Grin

RifRafia · 26/04/2020 08:50

Cheer

Littleninja1 · 26/04/2020 08:50

Schitt's Creek - pure genius but takes a few episodes to "get it".

Jane the Virgin (don't judge the title - it's hilariously quirky and adorable).

Enjoy!

ludicrouslemons · 26/04/2020 08:52

How are you with subtitles? I love Tokyo Diner on there - it's refreshing. All set in a late night diner and tells a different story each time about a customer. Really soothing (but makes you want Japanese food).

NewYearNewTwatName · 26/04/2020 08:53

oh and Suite Francaise,

really good and it's a true story.

Clarabellawilliamson · 26/04/2020 08:55

We are binge watching GLOW at the moment and loving it. I dismissed it for ages as not my thing (wrestling?!) but I love the characters and their stories.

Trumpspeach · 26/04/2020 08:56

Love is a great sitcom.

BuffaloCauliflower · 26/04/2020 08:56

I recently binged Call The Midwife (most is on Netflix, last 2 series on iPlayer) and it was the most cathartic, perfect thing. You won’t get more humanity.

BuffaloCauliflower · 26/04/2020 08:57

Would also meet your historical criteria as well

ScorpionQueen · 26/04/2020 08:59

The Good Place
Grace and Frankie

trebleclef101 · 26/04/2020 08:59

The Crown is really good

sleepwhenidie · 26/04/2020 08:59

Brooklyn99 is v funny (good to watch with teens), Same for the Good Place.

Schitts Creek is brilliant but seems a bit odd for first few episodes, Bear with it!

White Gold - British comedy with inbetweener actors, set in the 80’s with fab soundtrack and clothes to match.

sleepwhenidie · 26/04/2020 09:00

Crown is v good too

ReadingIsFundamental · 26/04/2020 09:03

Call My Agent is brilliant - about a French casting agency, every episode has a cameo from a different French actor, it’s funny and dramatic and superb.

Mascotte · 26/04/2020 09:04

Call my agent

furryleopard · 26/04/2020 09:05

Kingdom, a South Korean zombie historical drama, it's very good and beautifully shot and directed.

NewYearNewTwatName · 26/04/2020 09:06

aghh. sorry Suite Francaisce isn't a true story! in the credits it seem to allude to it, especially talking about a piece of music published and the daughter saying how lovely that her mums life had been published.....

now I'm just confused confused

MossWalk · 26/04/2020 09:08

YY, Call my Agent, the Crown and Brooklyn 99.

Suits is great escapism, early seasons much better than the later ones though.

I am not the demographic at all for Cheer but watched it twice. Insane.

SliAnCroix · 26/04/2020 09:10

Have you ever watched den kongelige affære? The Royal Affair? it is so good. It is a period drama but one of the best.
I was also watching 100 humans the other day. it's interesting.

BeardedMum · 26/04/2020 09:12

Schitts Creek is the best. Absolute genius.
