Having watched some of their other videos, I’m concerned for her.

He says he’s had a lot of messages saying he won’t have any idea how normal people are struggling right now and he replied saying he’s very lucky to have servants

ActuallyItsEugene · 15/04/2020 11:57

Exactly like my ex was in front of others. The sly digs and microaggression to put me in my place whilst maintaining his squeaky clean persona to everyone else.

It's actually quite frightening the way his face changes.

BemidjiMinnesota · 15/04/2020 11:58

Wow that elbow really had venom behind it, what a prick. Angry

Soontobe60 · 15/04/2020 11:58

I've watched both videos again and I still don't see the problem. However, I can see that if someone is watching that and has experienced a controlling partner it might be triggering. That does not mean that he is controlling. She looks perfectly happy in both videos.

TooManyTigers · 15/04/2020 11:58

It then jumped to this clip

So I think they just have that silly kind of relationship

BreastedBoobilyToTheStairs · 15/04/2020 11:58

What's wrong with this? Really?

She starts speaking and gets a swift shove. He does it out of reflex and it's clear from his expression it isn't a jokey 'oi!', and her response makes it pretty clear that they've discussed that she isn't supposed to be talking. Then he remembers he's on camera and pulls her in close in a 'look it's all fine we're really happy' way but he's holding her in place with both arms and she just vaguely smiles at the camera but it really doesn't reach her eyes at all.

CCaK · 15/04/2020 11:58

Slimy Christmas bastard.

Hemlock2013 · 15/04/2020 11:58

I think it’s interesting actually how some people are seeing what’s possibly implied here.... I don’t see anything, but I’ve never been in an abusive relationship.

Are the people that have clocked it victims of dm and therefore see what’s really happening??

PepperMooMoo · 15/04/2020 11:59

Weren't the police called to his home over a domestic violence claim when he was with Emily Blunt? I've never fallen for his charming ways.

Rebelwithallthecause · 15/04/2020 11:59

Yes she had the same face happy look I used to give

Poor woman

Rebelwithallthecause · 15/04/2020 11:59

Wow I never knew he was with Emily blunt

Love her and john as a couple

Rebelwithallthecause · 15/04/2020 12:00

His lips are pursed whenever he speaks about her or to her.
Such aggression he’s holding in

GoldenFlaps · 15/04/2020 12:01

She looks perfectly happy in both videos

Perhaps she's doing what she needs to to keep herself and her children safe.

Go to 2.08 on the other video - he says ‘you are dead to me’

Was there a bit of a gap before 'to me'?

Haggisfish · 15/04/2020 12:02

I’m not a victim of dv and this makes me uneasy too. She seems a bit flinchy and he seems very critical indeed.

JonHammIsMyJamm · 15/04/2020 12:02

Grim.

Ninkanink · 15/04/2020 12:02

No I’ve never been in an abusive relationship but I recognise micro-expressions, subtle tells and also have a lot of experience in dealing with volatile people.

He’s always made me feel very uncomfortable.

If people cannot see that flash of anger on his face when he shoves her...

If anyone did that to anyone outside of their home (for example to a stranger on the street, or a child) it would be considered absolutely out of order. Why is it okay because she’s his wife?

Rebelwithallthecause · 15/04/2020 12:02

Yes , like an extra millisecond but noticeable

Reminds me of that TV program Liar where you can see what people are really saying just from their expressions

Rebelwithallthecause · 15/04/2020 12:03

Not liar - lie to me

ScarfLadysBag · 15/04/2020 12:03

I'm actually very surprised and slightly concerned people don't find the sharp elbow and his expression and subsequent behaviour/her reaction at the very least slightly off. I've never been in an abusive relationship, and I found the elbow and his subsequent behaviour quite unpleasant. I showed it to my DH too, who raised an eyebrow and said 'Not such a nice guy after all' without my prompting it too.

As to whether it's indicative of a larger issue, who can tell? All we have are a few seconds and it could be just a one-off. But those few seconds in isolation in there first clip are not nice and I find it very odd some people are apparently unable to see that or see what is concerning about it Confused

YgritteSnow · 15/04/2020 12:04

He's furious with her in that second video and cannot hide it. His facial expressions give him away, he can't control them. Something very wrong going on there.

Teddy1970 · 15/04/2020 12:04

How many times have there been posts on here where the man is the pillar of the community, an all round good guy, everyones mate who will do anything for anyone, but behind the scenes at home he's a bully? Too many times to mention.

Soontobe60 · 15/04/2020 12:04

No, but he admits he was a rubbish boyfriend and was unfaithful. Doesn't mean he's an abuser though.

GoldenFlaps · 15/04/2020 12:05

Yes. My ex was also life and soul of the party, who thought everybody loved him, but he was totally different to me.

VisionQuest · 15/04/2020 12:05

Yeah I don't buy into all his crooning and aren't I such a nice guy persona. Frank Sinatra was the same

koshkatt · 15/04/2020 12:06

This. It made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck.
