I have no grandparents left, my last died when I was 27. Yet I know someone who is almost 30 and has all of her grandparents still living. Can't help but feel a little jealous.

I am 51 and still have one grandmother alive who I see regularly. However I have lost both my parents...

mynameisigglepiggle · 08/03/2020 14:56

I'm really lucky. I'm 41 and still have one grandparent.
Until I was 21 I had all 4 grandparents AND a great grandparent!
Then I had 4 grandparents til I was about 25. Then lost two more at 34 then 37.

Had a fantastic relationship with them all and miss them terribly.

My Nan who I was extremely close to died when I was 11. I still miss her every day and I'm now nearly 27.

bruffin · 08/03/2020 14:59

15 , one of my gf died when my dad was 2
My DV lost their last gp at 17 and 19

Thesearmsofmine · 08/03/2020 15:04

32, I never had all 4 as one died before I was born. My last remaining grandparent died on the same day I had my youngest.

Oblomov20 · 08/03/2020 15:05

I never had any grandparents. Both my mums parents and my dads parents, all died, before my parents met, at college.

woodhill · 08/03/2020 15:11

I was 36 and fairly fortunate. The grand ads from both DHs and my family seemed to die in close succession when we were in our 20s.

AccidentallyRunToWindsor · 08/03/2020 15:12

I still have one at 37 but my mums parents we're dead before I was born.

It's been 18 years since my grandad died as well

PlumpAndPlain · 08/03/2020 15:14

At the age of 30 I still had 3 out of 4. Now at 35 my last grandparent has just moved to end of life care. My husband was under 10 when he had lost all his grandparents.

thaegumathteth · 08/03/2020 15:14

Both grandads died before I was born. Granny died when I was 9 and nan died when I was 20.

endofacentury · 08/03/2020 15:17

3 died before I was born, the other when I was 6 months old. Never knew any of them. Felt I missed out a lot when I was a child but that's what happens when you have older parents I suppose

isabellerossignol · 08/03/2020 15:17

I was 7. Two had died before I was born, another when I was a toddler and that was my one remaining grandparent. I feel that I had a big gap in my childhood as all my friends had grandparents and I didn't.

CookPassBabtridge · 08/03/2020 15:17
  1. I feel a bit jealous too.. especially as I lost my dad at 30 too when people my age still haven't lost any grandparents.
AlbusSeverusMalfoy · 08/03/2020 15:17
  1. Miss him so much. He would of loved my dd, who I found I was carrying 2 weeks after he passed Daffodil One GP died before I was born, one was I was 2/3 years old and one when I was 15/16.
PickAChew · 08/03/2020 15:18

Only 18. I think my grandfather lived a little longer but my mum was justifiably non contact with him.

Greywind1523 · 08/03/2020 15:19
  1. I lost the first when I was 17. 2 of DH’s are still with us and he’s 35.
Ejb86 · 08/03/2020 15:19

I'm 33 and I know I'm very lucky to still have 3. My grandad died when I was 6 months old.

ellanwood · 08/03/2020 15:19

I was about eight. Not sure as my dad was estranged form his parents and my maternal grandad died when I was a baby. So the only one I knew was my lovely nana who lived far away so we didn;t see her that often. She died when I was about eight.

Strugglingtodomybest · 08/03/2020 15:22

29, i was devastated as he wasnt really that ill, but the hospital made a mistake and he died.

(They apologised though and we left it at that, even doctors make mistakes.)

RuthW · 08/03/2020 15:25

I was 29 when the last one went. Three went within 18 months and the other a couple of years before.

Donkeytail · 08/03/2020 15:25

I'm 33 and still have one. I'm lucky enough to have known all of my grandparents and great grandparents.

HairyTesticles · 08/03/2020 15:26

22

RainbowsandSnowdrops · 08/03/2020 15:27

I’m 28 and I have two still alive. As on my Mums side they are quite young. Grandma had her at 18, she had me at 26. I was 26 when I had DD. It’s partly why I didn’t want to wait too long, I think it can be nice having a young family.

Jeleste · 08/03/2020 15:28

I still have 3 grandparents (im early 30s).

ButterscotchHorseman · 08/03/2020 15:30

I'm mid 30s and still have 2, they were teenage parents and I have clear memories of one of their parents.
