I have no grandparents left, my last died when I was 27. Yet I know someone who is almost 30 and has all of her grandparents still living. Can't help but feel a little jealous.

Not me but my children have 1 grandparent left. They are 6 and 2.
My child's friend asked them if they have sleepovers/tea at their nanny's house- my child's reply "I haven't got any nanny's " left the child and parent flummoxed

18 months old when my granda died, the rest before I was born. My youngest DC is 13. My DF died before she was born and her paternal granda shortly afterwards. She doesn't remember him. DM died last year so my DC only have one remaining grandparent and she is 86. Many of her friends have great grandparents.

GrumpySausage · 08/03/2020 12:29

I'm 33, and have one grandma left who is 94. Both my grandfather's died 10+ years ago but my other grandma died 3 years ago aged 99. Us women have strong genes apparently.

ChicChicChicChiclana · 08/03/2020 12:30

I was 40 and expecting her last great grandchild. My grandma was nearly 95.

  1. It makes me really sad that I didn't grown up knowing them.
OutOntheTilez · 08/03/2020 12:31

I was 46 when my last grandparent died. My paternal grandma was 102.

I was lucky enough to know all four of them.

O was 24 when my last grandparent died.

My DD is almost 3 and she only has one grandparent left.

Teapotdespot · 08/03/2020 12:47

I’m 29 and I have 2 left, the other 2 died a couple of years ago. The youngest died at 90, oldest is currently still going at 94.

SingingSands · 08/03/2020 12:47

I was 30. Although, we only know that my Grandfather disappeared and was subsequently presumed dead, we don't have proof Confused

JellyfishandShells · 08/03/2020 12:48

18 .

  1. Two died before I was born, one when I was 7 and last when I was 15.

One thing I love about my dh is his huge family, he’s in his mid 40s and still has 2 grandparents. I used to feel a little jealous tbh but now we’re all so close I even call them gran and grandad. One is really ill just now and my heart honestly hurts to think of him passing away.

Yahboosnubsme · 08/03/2020 12:54

36, my beloved grandma died 3 years ago at the age of 89. She was my hero.

Skyejuly · 08/03/2020 12:54

I'm 33 and have my nana left- just.

Imok · 08/03/2020 12:58

Never knew my dad's mum as she died when he was a little boy. My grandad re-married quite quickly (wartime - I think they married quicker then) so I did have a nan, even though she wasn't my biological nan.
Anyhow, paternal grandad died when I was about 5 - I have lovely memories of him, despite being so young. My maternal grandad died when I was 17 , my paternal 'nan' when I was about 31. My step dad's parents (not very MN I know, but they treated me and my dcs as equal family with their natural GCs) when I was mid thirties. My maternal nan, the one I was closest to, died when I was 43. I miss her very much. She was so proud to be a grandmother and then a great-grandmother. She would have been so chuffed to have been a great great grandmother when I became a grandparent myself. If I am half as good a grandparent to my dgc, as she was to me, I'll be very happy.

  1. Two had died before I was born.
JayeAshe · 08/03/2020 13:00
  1. My DGM was born in 1910 and lived to almost 105.
Zisforstripyoss · 08/03/2020 13:01

I only had 1 grandparent from the age of 6 and my last remaining one hung on until I was 32.

cptartapp · 08/03/2020 13:01

I was 44 and my GM was 89. I then lost my DM six months later in an accident.
That was a shit year.

BillHadersNewWife · 08/03/2020 13:02

I'm shocked at how old some of you are with living grandparents! I was 14.... that's pretty normal in my area.

Huntlybyelection · 08/03/2020 13:03
  1. She had been my last grandparent for over 15 years though. One grandfather died when my mum was 4 One grandfather when I was 7 One grandmother when I was 17 Last grandmother when I was 35

DH was 42 when his last grandparent died. She had been his last surviving grandparent for about 20 years.

BillHadersNewWife · 08/03/2020 13:04

I mean.....I had DD at 36...her grandparents are all well in their 70s and some are ailing. ☹️

BillHadersNewWife · 08/03/2020 13:04

Meant to add....she's 15

idontwanttogoooooooooooo · 08/03/2020 13:05
