Keep me company in hospital?

Just that really...

I have a chronic condition so I'm a bit of a frequent flyer but have had two admissions since the beginning of the year which is making me a bit fed up.
Likely to be here for the best part of two weeks.
Some distracting chat would be lovely to cheer me up...

What are you feeling? Romcom/period drama/comedy/childhood memories?

I'm home :) :) so I'm catching up on iplayer

MamanSparkles · 22/02/2020 14:13

Never got my aero either. Although DH brought me a giant bar of fruit and nut so I don't mind too much!

RedDhalia · 22/02/2020 20:04

@MamanSparkles Great to hear you are home!! Fab news 😁

@Nacknick what did you watch?

I've been out for tea this afternoon, my family have made the trip to see me and it was fantastic. I cried somewhat when they left!

Still a tad stingy.. I've had 3 days on AB's so would have thought it would have shifted by now. More bladder scans tomorrow!

X

JustBreatheLxs · 22/02/2020 23:25

Hi @Nacknick how are you? I have severe bronchiectasis and I am all too familiar with 2-3 week admissions. Not as bad as CF, I know. Are you in the RB or another hospital? Feel free not to say x

Orchidflower1 · 23/02/2020 15:54

@Nacknick Glad to hear you’re on the mend. Hope you get to go home soon. 🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫

Frownette · 23/02/2020 15:57

What's the first 3 things you'll do when you get home?

Youngatheart00 · 23/02/2020 16:02

Did you know that “Waterloo Sunset” was written from a hospital bed with a view that could be the same as yours?

Nacknick · 23/02/2020 18:19

Hey there, just checking in with everyone

@MamanSparkles hooray you're home, well done!!

@RedDhalia hope you're less stingy today and afternoon tea sound s lovely. I watched The Social Network which I quite enjoyed and made me think about the proliferation of Facebook and social media...

@JustBreatheLxs lung conditions are the pits aren't they. I'm lucky that's I have an unusual variant but that's swings and roundabouts. Probably similar impact to your bronchiectasis (which is a word I never expected to be able to spell!)

@Orchidflower1 nice lot of chocolate there. I had some "chopped nut chocolate" today in the absence of whole nut. What a travesty...

@Frownette the first thing is always hugging my boy, followed closely by a bath 😄

@Youngatheart00 good fact about Waterloo Sunset, I'll have to google that story

So I've had an exciting day because dp and DS came up to see me and we went out for the morning and lunch. Was lovely to be with them and hang out but felt very flat to come back here afterwards and there were tears when I was back in my room. 😥
It was good though and made me feel normal for a few hours.
Back to the old routine and hurty cannulas now though. The big one which I was hoping would allow me home failed last night so no clear prospect of when I will go home at the moment. Will see the consultant tomorrow though and hopefully get some answers.

Catch up tomorrow x

MamanSparkles · 23/02/2020 20:22

Thanks for the update @Nacknick sorry to hear the cannula wasn't successful. It's so lovely to see little ones but so hard when they go isn't it? My DD doesn't really understand what it means yet when mummy is in hospital. How old is DS? Does he cope ok?
Hope you get a good night's sleep and the talk with the consultant goes well x

Orchidflower1 · 25/02/2020 08:28

Sorry you’ve had painful cannulas @Nacknick. I hope the consultant was able y to give you more info.

JustBreatheLxs · 28/02/2020 10:53

Good morning @Nacknick
How are you doing? Flowers

Nacknick · 29/02/2020 09:29

Morning!
I'm still here....!
Was supposed to have a port fitted on Thursday but it got cancelled dammit.

Re-scheduled for Monday so this is weekend 3 - sigh.
The good news is that if it doesn't happen on Monday then I will go home anyway - although would then need to come back another time.

What's everyone up to on this wet weekend?

Sorry to hear you’re sill in @Nacknick. How are you feeling in yourself?

Supposed to be taking ddog on a walk but it’s like a monsoon out!
Supposed to unload the washer.
Supposed to hoover and dust but actually I’m here procrastinating!

Nacknick · 01/03/2020 22:08

I'm feeling good and have been out a couple of times this weekend so I'm definitely well enough to go home. Just need this long term access sorted so fingers crossed for tomorrow. Have been very relaxed about it up til now but today feel slightly nervous - think it's because all the surgeons seem desperately serious when they come and see you!

Wet Saturday morning turned into a sunny lunchtime and a wander round in the real world. Lovely breezy sunny morning today so I walked round the park just up the road - on both days avoiding anyone who looked like they might have a virus 😂

Watched a couple of films, read the newspaper and chilled out.

On the homeward stretch now I think. Hope everyone else is doing well.
Are you home yet@RedDhalia?
@JustBreatheLxs I had an interesting conversation yesterday with the weekend physio and learnt about non-cf related bronchiectasis!

RedDhalia · 02/03/2020 07:27

Morning!

I am home! Came home on Thursday afternoon. Am back off to (my usual) hospital today for MRI and neurosurgeon app. My physio set me back on day 1 so it was stopped straight away. Stayed in to continue with the bowel treatment.. now I'm doing it at home 😬

Am getting a tad frustrated now. I'm 11 weeks post the 3rd op and the slightest of different movements sets me off with numbness and pain and it's getting a bit concerning how I'm ever going to be walking with 2 legs again at this rate. I can hobble very well but my left leg is knackered really, can't get my heal anywhere near the floor and my right leg went weak after physio and I can't afford for that one to go!! Sorry for the moan, it's all I ever do anymore!

Glad you got out for a bit at the weekend @Nacknick - it makes a big difference. Hopefully you can get access sorted early this week and get home!!

JustBreatheLxs · 03/03/2020 21:32

I’ve been admitted to hospital with a nasty exacerbation. Everybody is talking non stop about the Coronavirus, it’s so weird and off putting to be honest. Feeling sick as a dog on the antibiotics.

@Nacknick

Glad you got to see the world, hope it helped keep your spirits up. Flowers

Any news on the line?

@RedDhalia

how did your appointment go?

Nacknick · 04/03/2020 14:13

Oh poor you @JustBreatheLxs and horrid that the ABs are making you feel sick. Where are you? Don't say if you don't want to but imagine if we're in the same place!

Port happened on Monday and has knocked me for six! I got some surgical emphysema after the procedure and O2 levels dropped quite badly. So I've had the world and his wife checking up on me round the clock, lots of pain relief and painful physio.
Feeling a bit better each day though and they've dropped my oxygen right down today so hopefully will be off it soon.

Glad to hear you're home @RedDhalia but sorry to hear your legs aren't behaving! Hope you're improving bit by bit as well.

And as for corona virus- it can just naff off if you know what I mean. Fed up of hearing and reading about it!!

I'm home! Feeling shell shocked but ok. Thanks all for keeping me company and hope you all fare well with various trials and tribulations. The sun came out so maybe spring is on its way Flowers
