Keep me company in hospital?

Just that really...

I have a chronic condition so I'm a bit of a frequent flyer but have had two admissions since the beginning of the year which is making me a bit fed up.
Likely to be here for the best part of two weeks.
Some distracting chat would be lovely to cheer me up...

Ooh, I'll have a magazine if you have one @QueenOfOversharing, I'm fine for chocolate etc.

I'm feeling grateful I've had to endure no worse that a split head with DS - these long stays with children don't sound fun

Good night to you all....

I have always dreaded the hours after 6 in the evening when I was hospitalised when I was little...everything seems worst.

It is as if we need a little time to settle our spirit for a rest....or maybe this is so only when you are very young.
Or maybe because in the hospital where I was the food was dreadful and I was a picky eater anyway....

The bit about the view from the hospital window was really lovely....send us a picture!

QueenOfOversharing · 18/02/2020 21:46

@Standrewsschool apologies! How did I not attach them??? GOSH is an incredible incredible hospital - but can be very upsetting.

Porn colouring in, you say??

Hi Nacknick - came across your thread and stopped by to say hello Grin

Hope you're feeling okay this evening. The Society is a good binge watch on Netflix if you need one!

I got three chickens today; two are very friendly and one is a bit naughty!

I'm currently trying to work out whether going part time at work is a good idea or not. What do you think?

ittooshallpass · 19/02/2020 06:55

@Nacknick sorry I didn’t answer your question about my day earlier.

It’s half term this week and DD is with her dad until Wednesday, then I’ve managed to get Thursday and Friday off work. I can’t wait!

It does mean I’m mad busy at work now though. Trying to squeeze 5 days work into 3.

I’m lucky to work from home 4 days a week, but it does mean I work too many hours sometimes!

So at the moment it’s the storm before the calm.

Hope you’re watching the sunrise this morning. It’s bright and clear out of my window.

MamanSparkles · 19/02/2020 10:20

Morning @Nacknick how are you today?

Standrewsschool · 19/02/2020 16:39

The Therapy dogs are so cute.

How is everyone doing today?

Nacknick · 19/02/2020 17:08

Had a bit of a lie-in this morning which was nice but seem to have been busy on my laptop all day since with work bits and pieces. Nice to exercise my brain, but need some down time soon.

I work mostly at home as well which means the boundaries get blurred but also mean much more flexibility, so it works for me.

@FrostyBamboo I always found working part-time not worth it financially but I guess that depends on your circumstances. It also didn't really seem to reduce the workload, just the time in which to do it! Many things to consider I imagine...

The only bit of news here is that I haven't had a temperature spike yet today! Hooray! It might mean I'm properly on the up.

Things to be grateful for today:

  • I FaceTimed my boy today and he seemed pretty cheerful and we had a nice chat
  • no temperature yet today
  • I've made a start on my big bar of whole nut chocolate. That won't last long now I've opened it

😁

MamanSparkles · 19/02/2020 18:52

Whole nut is good medicine. (Although fruit and nut is better I think!)
Enjoy! Fingers crossed your temp stays down.

RedDhalia · 19/02/2020 19:02

Evening all!!

I've had a ranty day today. I've complained for 4 days of feeling like I've had a UTI. Was told yesterday that as nobody has recorded my fever on Monday night I wasn't able to have AB's and they were awaiting my test results. Temp hit 38 again today and consequently they checked my results and I have E-Coli. Joyful. At least I'm on the AB's now.

How is everyone doing? I'm loving the animal pictures!!

Nacknick · 19/02/2020 20:28

I'll join you in that rant @RedDhalia. I had doctors saying "you didn't have a fever yesterday, that's good" only for me to point out that it's because they were giving me paracetamol.
So now they're not giving it to me routinely so that we can tell if it's still spiking!
It's not rocket science - or is it...?

OP posts:
MamanSparkles · 19/02/2020 21:00

Oh no @RedDhalia that's not good! Hope the ABs kick in soon.
I'm now finding breathing very painful so think I might be going in tomorrow. But I'm determined to get a good night's sleep in my own bed first!

RedDhalia · 19/02/2020 21:15

@MamanSparkles ah honey, I hope you have a settled night. Please let us know how you get on tomorrow.. same applies to you @Nacknick 😁

MamanSparkles · 20/02/2020 14:36

Yeah I'm in too now... but no beds yet so I can't go to sleep.
How is everyone else doing?

Nacknick · 20/02/2020 19:32

Oh sorry to hear that @MamanSparkles but welcome to the hospital gang as well. Hope you're tucked up in a bed soon. It's rubbish when you try your best to stave it off and then end up having to go in anyway.

It's good news bad news here....
Good news, I'm feeling better and even made it out of my room today.
Bad news, they started me on a new drug today which may extend my stay if we can't find a way for me to have it at home.

Hey ho, chin up people Flowers

🌺🌺🌺 for all those unwell whether at home or in hospital.

@Nacknick I hope you feel better soon but had you not realised that a giant bar of aero is now the only medicine recognised by the nhs??? I don’t think fruit and nut cuts the mustard!

MamanSparkles · 21/02/2020 08:12

@RedDhalia how are you getting on?
@Nacknick fingers crossed the drug works well and they can find a way for you to have it at home (I assume it's IV?)
I'm worrying about being off work, yet again. I'd been hoping I would be well enough to go back on Monday. My boss is very supportive and understands, but I'm onto my 4th week off this year now and I can't work from home. Even my by standards that's a lot - when I took the job I explained I usually end up with 2 weeks sick leave a year and they are fine with that, but 4 is a bit much.

Nacknick · 21/02/2020 18:00

@MamanSparkles, I total get that - it's horrid to worry about work when you're ill. Which is probably why I've been working a bit more than I should this time around. Hopefully your boss will continue to be supportive ❤️

@Orchidflower1 I'll get onto the Aero straightaway - I must say it's not my favourite, but needs must. I obviously missed that memo.

I now have a really big cannula in my arm after the new drug killed the usual small cannula yesterday. I told them it hurts when I bend my arm - apparently that's quite normal because I have a massive bit of plastic in my arm 😂. The nurse told me not to bend my arm...

Anyway, if it lasts over the weekend I might be able to go home with it... fingers crossed.

Frownette · 21/02/2020 18:12

What did you have to eat today?

MamanSparkles · 21/02/2020 19:01

@Nacknick thankyou. I think it's time someone invented bendable cannulas, they are the future. Fingers crossed for you getting home.
Do you think hospitals across the country will sell out of aeros as a result of this thread?
@RedDhalia how are you doing?

Toddlerteaplease · 21/02/2020 19:23

IV Paracetamol is equivalent to 10mg of morphine. It's also my favourite IV drug to give. Watching g
The bubbles going up the bottle is so satisfying. (I know I need to get out more!)

RedDhalia · 22/02/2020 11:09

Hello hello, how are we all?

I'm doing ok thank you. STILL pooping. I don't understand what is going on.. it's never ending!!!!

Nacknick · 22/02/2020 13:03

Hello everyone. I'm definitely feeling too well to be here 😂 but obviously they won't let me home til the drugs are all done!

Sorry to hear you're STILL pooping @RedDhalia - that must be pretty tiring. Did they manage to get the infection under control?

I went out this morning which was fantastic. Came back with newspapers (forgot to get a magazine dammit), chocolate and cake. My NHS issued aero doesn't seem to have turned up yet...

I think a film might be in order this afternoon. Anybody got any feel good recommendations?
