Keep me company in hospital?

Just that really...

I have a chronic condition so I'm a bit of a frequent flyer but have had two admissions since the beginning of the year which is making me a bit fed up.
Likely to be here for the best part of two weeks.
Some distracting chat would be lovely to cheer me up...

A friend has it, so being isolated alerted my spidey senses.

Are you reading/watching anything decent?

Millettmum · 16/02/2020 20:03

He's actually a cross with a staffy as well called Stewie.

Drugs given via IV can give you a different affect PP.

Whynosnowyet · 16/02/2020 20:04

Mm well house training isn't going too badly. Just need not eating chairs training, not using other ddogs as trampolines and not barking at dcat lessons..
Unfortunately she can't go out for another 10 days!! She is Saluki /deerhound.

Here’s one of my favourite London legends

It's quietening down here now with the night staff coming on shift and everyone settling down for the evening. Not that it's busy on a Sunday particularly but trying to make the most of the peace before Monday morning which will be full-on with doctors' rounds, physios etc.
I have my window open and can hear the usual city sounds of cars, motorbikes and police sirens. And people on their way into and out of the hospital. Looking at the red lights on all the cranes across London, the city looks very different from this morning when storm Dennis was passing over.
Two more lots of medication tonight and then I'll be settling down for sleep.
Catch up with all you lovely people tomorrow.

@Nacknick sounds good.. hopefully these couple of weeks will pass quickly.

I'm not too bad - it sounds far more serious on here than it needs to for me, not for others though ☹️

I had Cauda Equina syndrome 3 times in December - 3 big ops in 15 days, and I thought I had got away with much of the horrible things associated with it. Turns out that I haven't really, so in here to try and sort my bladder and bowel issues out, then hopefully have rehab on this gammy leg I've been left with.

I'm in a 6 bed HDU bay (I don't need HDU care) and I am the only one in here. The rest of the bays are all full. I've no idea why it's empty but I'm enjoying the peace whilst I can. It's a bit lonely though!!

Also, meant to add that I love how your thread has developed in to animal love!! Gorgeous pics on here.

I hope you have a settled evening x

AutumnRose1 · 16/02/2020 20:47

I was expecting a pic of McDreamy or McSteamy for the dishy doctor!

DanFmDorking · 16/02/2020 21:03

Your description of looking out of your window reminded me of this.
You may have already seen it.
Hope all goes well for you.

Standrewsschool · 16/02/2020 21:15

@abbeylexie - is your dog called Flowers,

And what is gorgeous deerhound mix called.

Or can we have a ‘Name my dog’ Competition?

Standrewsschool · 16/02/2020 21:17

Just had to look up Mcdreamy and Mcateamy. I’ve added photos for those who also don’t know these doctors.

Here is my very best joke for you, OP:
What's the difference between Dubai and Abu Dhabi?

Dubai don't like the Flintstones but Abu Dhabi Do GrinGrin

AutumnRose1 · 16/02/2020 21:27

StAndrews, thank you 😊

tatyr · 16/02/2020 21:45

I laughed more today than I can remember, my DS found a empty chrysalis stuck to the window. He was trying to tell me what it was but couldn't work it out, so he called it a caterpillar cagoule.

I hope that tickles you like it tickled me!

Borntobeamum · 16/02/2020 21:48

Search out Tattle life! It’ll pass hours!

AbbieLexie · 16/02/2020 23:24

Hopeless I am - Flowers were for you to give you some comfort. The Giant Schnauzer is called Flo.

Nacknick · 17/02/2020 08:52

Morning all!
Well I was woken at stupid o'clock as usual for medication but failed to go back to sleep so am now awake and awaiting the inevitable procession of doctors that Monday morning brings.
I'm not feeling great, but the sun is shining and I guess hospital is the right place for me at the moment...
Interesting fact (with reference to the doctor photos), all the consultants on my specialist team are women so no gender stereotypes here.
Let's see what the day brings - thanks for all the diversion, I enjoyed the ghost story last night, and the jokes!

@tatyr caterpillar cagoule is lovely, you must keep that one as a family saying

@RedDhalia I had to google Cauda Equina - ouch, it looks painful!

Poor you, all alone on a bay, must be odd - no company but not much privacy either. Hope your day goes well.

Will you have lots of activity as well today? I fully expect to be exhausted by 11am!

@SimonJT, hope your friend is surviving the winter better than I am. I had a good one last year so I guess I was due a bit more trouble this year.
Not able to focus on much at the moment so I'm watching a lot of rubbish, but hoping in a day or so to pick up and then will start reading something more challenging - not sure what yet...

Luckily quite well, but that’s due to being a big neglectful about exercise etc last year and being on the new drug the NHS has approved, I have no idea what it’s actually called.

Have you watched the boys on prime?

RedDhalia · 17/02/2020 09:16

@Nacknick good morning! I awoke at 4 and that was it for me - no more sleep. I only have obs twice a day here so usually it's not so busy first thing, however we too have ward rounds this morning (only happens once a week) and it's all hustle and bustle.

My morning will consist of turning myself inside out on the loo. I have come to loath the bowel treatment I am on. It's enough to make you physically sick whilst on the loo. This afternoon I plan to lie here exhausted with a book haha.

It's quite odd being in hospital without accident or recent injury! I only came for my initial assessment here on Tuesday and was in by Thursday. I wasn't expecting to be an inpatient at all so it's all come as quite the shock all over again. I'm 50 miles from home, and don't know any of the area I am in so it all feels quite odd.

I guess we both have to keep our spirits up. I was thinking of starting the same thread as you so was (very selfishly) happy to see yours - sorry.

I can feel the loo calling, so must dash. Let me know how you are later!!
