The Robbing Butcher - Bemused by the Patio at FrogMhor Cottage

TheMustressMhor · 08/02/2020 10:58

What next for the Robbing Butcher?

Will he wander past Mhor Cottage several times a day so that he can keep an eye on the progress of the patio?

Will Mr. Mhor's measurements turn out to be wrong? And will Mustress Mhor and her DH have too many SLABS as a result?

If they do, what will they do with them?

Will the eggs be dippy tomorrow?

You can do it mustress hang in there!
I fell off wagon very badly at Christmas, now trying to get back on track! , those damn potatoes keep making eyes at me! Grin

TheMustressMhor · 22/02/2020 16:48

The produce sold by the Robbing Butcher is not helping me.

Yes - it is my fault. If I just had porridge for breakfast all would be well.

Mr. Mhor likes a cooked breakfast every day and usually, I only joined him at the weekends. The rest of the week was a porridge-fest for my good self.

At the moment I am having a cooked breakfast every single day. While this is delicious, it is not helping my weight loss.

Mustress , don't beat yourself up, my downfall is wine! I've been dreadful since Xmas !

Thebishopofbanterbury · 22/02/2020 20:10

What the hell are you lot talking about?

7Worfs · 22/02/2020 21:13

I fell of the wagon too, 16:8 is now 15:9 or 14:10, and chocolate is consumed daily.

GracefulHippo · 22/02/2020 21:15

Hi everyone !!

I had a time off MN. After an amazing birthday, I realised that I was weeks behind on my studies (which I do online) and needed to sort myself out. Now sorted!!

Wow, things have been moving quickly... I amazed at the suggestion of reporting lurkers on this thread (can I say this?). I felt quite guilty catching up without posting...

Am thriving at the moment. On top of my studies (for now), big glass of wine and the TV is working. It was down earlier (satellite not happy with the weather) and I faced the prospect of Mr Hippo away most of next week and no TV. That would have been BAD. My one chance watching rubbish would have been gone!

7Worfs · 22/02/2020 21:33

Hey, Hippo!
Good job on the studies - get that merit/distinction Smile

GracefulHippo · 22/02/2020 21:38

Thank you 7!!! Am hoping to go back to work once the children are a bit bigger, so need to need those qualifications Smile.

yolofish · 22/02/2020 21:51

well done hippo! And also well done to others with ability to lose weight, I just get fatter and fatter. I could give up Wine I suppose, but that's a bit miz.

I am so so pissed off with howling winds, grey skies, rain, ground like the Somme.

Not much to report chez yolo, except that DH back on chemo and knackered and I am slightly concerned that DD1 in France is not at all well, and adding up 2 and 2 to make 457 and does she have coronavirus? Have managed to convince her to go to pharmacy tomorrow.
We have signs of spring everywhere - snowdrops, daffs, primroses, buds swelling on shrubs, but FFS the weather!

7Worfs · 22/02/2020 22:06

Flowers yolo hope everyone is/gets better soon.

Spring-y here - flowers and trees in bloom, birds singing, weather is so-so.

Dinner was beef I managed to overcook. Not my proudest moment.

yolofish · 22/02/2020 22:20

7 DH is as cheffy as you can get, but beef is MY department. He doesnt understand that 15 mins per 500g plus 15 mins produces perfect rare, bloody roast beef... It's bizarre, he can everything else to perfection,

GracefulHippo · 23/02/2020 07:26

Yolo, so sorry to hear that Flowers, hope your DH’a treatment not it too bad (chemo can be awful) and that your DD gets well really soon. We have a wonderful pharmacist, sometimes they work magic.

Cuttingthegrass · 23/02/2020 10:03

Yolo, sorry hear about your DH.

Cuttingthegrass · 23/02/2020 10:04

And your daughter. I understand what it feels like to have a DD abroad when they’re ill

Cuttingthegrass · 23/02/2020 10:08

I should have done some gardening yesterday as everything is overgrown. Too much rain in Autumn and missed that season for trimming. But I didn’t. And now it is raining again. Yesterday grass was a bit dry and I could cut on high setting and it needs scarifying as so much moss. I am a fool..

I may brave the wind and rain for an hour. But then again I may continue to MN Grin

Cuttingthegrass · 23/02/2020 10:09

And waits for update on Mr Mhor’s egg at breakfast especially if one of the new hen large eggs. The timing will be different eh?

yolofish · 23/02/2020 11:05

Morning all. DH and DD2 have gone off to Laldi and Diddl (as we call them) so am hoping they will come back with more interesting stuff than I usually buy. DD1 has braved the French pharmacy and sent me photos of 2 different types of cough syrup, one for daytime and one for night. Sent her back in to buy a thermometer!!

Weather fucking awful again, and my poor chickens - every gust of wind takes down another bit of weather proofing on their run.

TheMustressMhor · 23/02/2020 11:22

Good morning, all.

Mr. Mhor succeeded in cooking the new hen's larger egg to perfection.

I am so glad that he isn't imaginary (as someone alleged on the fried egg thread)

yolofish it sounds like you have a lot to worry about at the moment. You are in my thoughts.

yolofish · 23/02/2020 11:33

Thank you mustress we muddle through, surviving and occasionally thriving!

There's quite a lot to be said for an imaginary husband in some ways. He'd probably be absolutely perfect!

ilovejeffgoldblum · 23/02/2020 12:57

Yolo Grin lol!
I must admit I sometimes love mine more when he's away!

ilovejeffgoldblum · 23/02/2020 12:59

I compliment mustress on her dh, mine can't even boil water! Smile

TheMustressMhor · 23/02/2020 13:25

You can borrow Mr. Mhor, ilovejeff, any time you need a new patio.

hopefully he'll make a better job of yours

TheMustressMhor · 23/02/2020 13:27

Right.

I must away to the kitchen to create a fresh peach crumble for the Mhors' dinner.

There is already plenty of roast lamb left over from yesterday. Ditto cauliflower cheese.

Question - do any of you find that cauliflower cheese tastes better the next day?

OP posts:
ilovejeffgoldblum · 23/02/2020 13:30

Definitely mustress! More flavourful , more cheesey 😋

ilovejeffgoldblum · 23/02/2020 13:31

I've just made keto rice pudding! Not as bad as you'd think 💭 quite nice 👍
