I’d love to live at the seaside

About a 10 minute drive. If it's not raining we go about once a week to walk along. More often in the summer. DC are toddlers.

Nousernameforme · 06/02/2020 13:13

Our beach is crap if I lived near one with rock pools and the sea was visible while you were on the beach pebbles etc for fossil hunting i would be there more often

Notsureabouthis · 06/02/2020 13:17

@matcatladyforever

You can’t have gone to too many seaside towns/villages. They’re not at all like that here!

Yes I live by the sea (15mins walk) and walk there every week. Love it!

catwithflowers · 06/02/2020 13:18

200 metres from the beach and hardly ever go there. I walk the dog in the park or countryside instead. It’s one of the reasons we are moving 😳😄

Livebythecoast · 06/02/2020 13:35

We live a 5 minute walk from a quiet secluded beach and 10 minutes walk from a 'touristy' beach. We used to go to the secluded one lots when DD was little for rockpooling. She goes to the main beach with her friends in the Summer (she's 16 now).
I love living near the sea and when I walk to town I go the beach/harbour way.
When my daughter was young and we visited family/friends inland she used to ask 'where's your beach?' !!

Lyricallie · 06/02/2020 13:45

I live on the north coast so get only a couple of days a year when the weather is nice. I do do some surf lessons but that's with really expensive thick wet suits :)

thewalrus · 06/02/2020 13:54

Every day, pretty much, in the Winter with the dog. Less than daily in summer (dog ban - though that's changing this summer), but still a couple of times a week: swimming, kayaking, BBQing. I love living near the beach!

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 06/02/2020 14:30

We haven't been since Christmas, but once the weather improves we'll cycle there a least once a week. It's 4 miles or thereabouts. When we have DGS we go a bit further up for level access.

Milbo · 06/02/2020 14:31

Yes, nearly every day but the beaches here are rarely busy and I am a 5 minute walk from a beautiful beach with loads to explore.

starfishmummy · 06/02/2020 14:36

I used to live in a seaside town for a while for work and occasionally went to the beach/prom if I had family visiting - which wasnt often as I usuay went back to my home town. Might have been different if Id had a child to take

Jozen · 06/02/2020 14:46

Not physically at the beach, on the sand during the week but I do walk beside it to work or to the shops etc.
Actually at the beach usually every weekend, weather depending. I used to go more when the kids were little before they were at school.

LeekTurnip · 06/02/2020 14:49

Very rarely and just to walk the dogs. Very rarely have beach weather here , I'd rather walk in woods where it's a bit protected from the wind.

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 06/02/2020 14:53

I’ve lived five minutes (by car) from the beach for about ten years. I’ve walked the dog there quite a bit in the past but have only been in the sea once in that time. The dog walks tailed off as dogs kept eating stuff and being poisoned so I wasn’t risking it.

PixieDustt · 06/02/2020 15:04

I literally live 5 minute walk from the seaside and do not go there at all really Blush. I will this summer now I have DS and go to the splash park

DieCryHate · 06/02/2020 15:08

Probably at least every couple of weeks. Usually dog walks in the cold and cooler months and then along the seafront and playing on the beach with our toddler when it's nice enough weather. That's normally weekdays or non peak times at the weekend as it is heaving with holiday makers. Occasional date nights to watch the sunset in the summer.

I love the sea and never tire of going to the beach.

floffel · 06/02/2020 15:10

Every day walking the dog - we both love it

abstractzebra · 06/02/2020 15:12

There is a small harbour at the end of my road with fantastic wildlife, including multiple herons and a massive egrets nesting area.
I find it fascinating and like to go and have a look but on the whole, I find the sea on a miserable, cold day quite depressing!
I also go and pick up seaweed for my compost heap.
If I had lots of money, I would rather live by a river, like the Thames at Henley or Marlow but unfortunately I am not a millionaire at the moment ☹️

AdoptedBumpkin · 06/02/2020 15:13

I'd like to be near a beach, but maybe the novelty wears off for those who are very close to the coast.

LouisaJenny · 06/02/2020 15:16

I live a 10 minute walk from the seafront. I go down once or twice a week during the winter, and every night in the summer and most weekends.

I feel really lucky to live so close.

soberfabulous · 06/02/2020 15:20

I love steps from the beach in a warm country. We are there all the time. Sometimes twice in a day.

I adore living near the sea, it feeds my soul ❤️

screamingvalhalla · 06/02/2020 15:20

Five mins walk to the sea , yes I often walk there , sit in the sunshine and read a book or people watch

Hoolihan · 06/02/2020 15:24

I live 10 walk mins from the beach. I don't go much in winter - last time I went was Christmas Eve. However I go almost daily in the summer and swim as much as I can. Sunny summer weekends we basically live there. I love it so so much.

Lollygaggles · 06/02/2020 15:29

I see the sea and the beach every pick up and drop off. DS's primary is opposite pretty much. I'm embarrassed to say we didn't go to the beach a single time last year. Blush

SinkGirl · 06/02/2020 15:32

Rarely at this time of year - the wind blows sand in your eyes, it’s not fun! Once things warm up a bit we will go more. So busy in summer so we go to the quieter beaches really early.

user1495225181 · 06/02/2020 15:32

Everyday to walk the dog.
