A thread intended for menus, cats and idle chit-chat.

I’ve dedicated a weekly vacuuming slot - Saturdays right after baby morning nap.

The vacuum battery lasts 20 min which is just enough for bedrooms, landing and stairs.
I might be a slob by MN standards... Blush

yolofish · 04/02/2020 09:53

"weekly vacuuming" 7worfs?

You are truly a paradigm of housewifely virtue, I only do it when the dog hair is ankle deep...

7Worfs · 04/02/2020 09:59

Blush If it wasn’t for the PFB rolling on the floors I wouldn’t bother.

I’ve got lamb slow cooking for dinner. Haven’t decided on the sides yet.

TheMustressMhor · 04/02/2020 10:49

It's looking like that old Scottish stand-by tonight - mince and taties.
Yum Yum Yum Yum.

Someone reading the Patio Slabs Calculation thread has had to go to A & E after laughing caused a ? prolapsed disc.

She has threatened to sue me.

Where can I hide until she stops being cross with me? Fleas? Worfs? Dandy?

Anyone with a spare room, anywhere, at all?

I might be a slob by MN standards

That is highly likely.

I am guessing that you also do not shower twice daily and only change the towels in the bathroom once a week.

Don’t get me started on the spare room. It’s currently a storage room because I’m waiting for Mr Worfs to sort out the loft, so we can move storage items in there. Angry

In the meantime you are welcome to an air bed in the drawing room, Mustress.

yolofish · 04/02/2020 12:07

People on here are quite weird about cleaning/hygiene. To be fair, I probably veer too far the other way, but none of us have died (yet). I change the sheets and the towels when I think 'ooh I havent done that in a while' - everyone else in the house is an adult, if they want clean sheets and towels then they know where they are kept... Shock horror I dont shower every day either - why would I when I havent actually done anything except sit at the computer and walk the dog? It's not as if I work up a sweat doing either. Perhaps I smell, but no one has ever said so!

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 04/02/2020 12:11

We can definitely accommodate you, Mustress, if not in comfort then definitely in anonymity. Will you be bringing "security"?

Last night was a bust, cinema-wise. DH, who has been nursing a shoulder twinge for a few days, suddenly found himself in considerable pain. To cut a long story short, we finally secured an appointment with an out of hours doctor in a nearby town and he was seen at 4:30 am this morning.

Rotator cuff tear, mustn't do anything with that arm. I am sympathetic, really I am...

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 04/02/2020 12:16

yolofish at last! Someone with a sensible attitude to cleanliness. (ie, mine)Crown Grin

I can never understand why on MN people seem to be perpetually buying new white goods. I have vacuum cleaners and washing machines going back decades. I'm suspect it's because they are never used.

Disclaimer, don't have pets or small children, but if I'm honest I was a bit of a mucky mare when I did.Crown Blush

yolofish · 04/02/2020 12:23

Perhaps it's some kind of one-up(wo)manship? I clean, my house is spotless, therefore I am better than you and in control of all areas of my life. Or maybe they just like it like that.

I honestly just cant be bothered with it - I'd rather be reading, or walking the dog or gardening or anything rather than worrying about the state of the skirting boards.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 04/02/2020 12:30

I'm suspect it's because they are never used

Mine, I meant, obviously! I like to think in my small way I am saving the planet one dusty room at a time.

There's a whole thread there if I felt especially goady.

yolofish · 04/02/2020 12:33

ooh you should go for it fleas - but only if you are feeling brave!

I am currently procrastinating, should be working and loading the dishwasher, but I might have to unload it first which is boring.

I often feel I can manage tidy and I can manage clean, but I can't manage both at the same time.

7Worfs · 04/02/2020 13:10

I’m very selective about cleaning - I keep the bedrooms and the living spaces clean-ish and tidy (hate clutter), but I don’t touch the kitchen and bathroom. When they get rather disgusting, DH cleans them. Blush

When I read on here that people don’t use toilet brushes I thought it’s a joke... but apparently half use their hands with some toilet paper and the other half use bleach after each visit.

When the day of the revolution comes, the former will be sectioned and the latter hanged in public.

TheMustressMhor · 04/02/2020 13:27

MR MHOR HAS DISAPPEARED

Just that, really.

I have no idea where he has gone, or why.

It may turn out to be something to do with the much-discussed patio. Either that or he has gone for a walk and neglected to tell me.

Whatever. I am far too busy to worry about trifles like the disappearance of a lawful spouse.

OP posts:
TheMustressMhor · 04/02/2020 13:28

Oh, and he has left his phone here in the house, so I cannot ring and ask him where he is.

OP posts:
Myimaginarycathasfleas · 04/02/2020 13:33

I am exhausted, but also a pedant. So if you don't mind...

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 04/02/2020 13:35

Mustress could he have buried himself under the patio? To save you the bother?

TheMustressMhor · 04/02/2020 13:52

Fleas, he cannot be under the patio as he has not yet built it.

The slabs are now coming on Thursday. Maybe. The builders' merchants are being very cagey about the exact day and time.

(That is also odd. That, and Mr. Mhor suddenly not being in the house.)

OP posts:
TheMustressMhor · 04/02/2020 13:55

Sod it.

OP posts:
TheMustressMhor · 04/02/2020 14:00

MR MHOR HAS RETURNED

He says he was at the dump.

Mind you, I said I was going to put some books in the new bookcase (the one Mr. Mhor constructed on Saturday) and I didn't quite get round to it.

Not quite.

OP posts:
ThumbWitchesAbroad · 04/02/2020 14:36

I feel vaguely like I'm intruding into a well-established club here! But it seems relatively friendly so can I stay for a bit?

I'm longing to know how the patio goes and how many slabs are left over... Grin

7Worfs · 04/02/2020 14:38

All Pratchett fans are extra welcome Wink

If you have pets you must post photos of them.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 04/02/2020 14:58

Hmm, I do have pets but most of them are not very cuddly - 2 lizards and 3 tree frogs. We do also have 3 lovely guineapigs outside - not sure I have a photo of them all together though! And it's 2am here at the moment...but I could oblige tomorrow :)

TheMustressMhor · 04/02/2020 15:08

@ThumbWitchesAbroad

You are very welcome.

What is on the menu in the Witches house tonight?

OP posts:
TheMustressMhor · 04/02/2020 15:09

By the way, everyone, I am sure that you will all be glad to learn that Mr. Mhor has returned for a second time.
