A thread intended for menus, cats and idle chit-chat.

Dh is the odd sock monster here
But that might have something to do with george clooney

BabySharksMummyShark · 30/01/2020 17:17

Dh also the sock monster he must have 100 pairs. I hate hate matching them!

The more you tell me about teenagers the more i think thats still me 🤔😂 im 30!

TheMustressMhor · 30/01/2020 17:31

Shepherd's Pie and steamed cabbage tonight.

With ketchup or Worcester Sauce if wanted.

DH will want.

Has anyone seen the thread someone started today about how her DH slathers the food she cooks with condiments?

Mr. Mhor does that.

I still think his inability to fry me a dippy egg is worse than his habit of covering everything he eats with ketchup and brown sauce (shudder).

yolofish · 30/01/2020 18:12

Tesco finest lasagne, salad and garlic bread tonight for us. Class, innit.

BabySharksMummyShark · 30/01/2020 18:25

Ooo that sound like lovely dinners!

I saw that thread, daddy shark is the same and has passed it on to the toddler! When he eats that is!

7Worfs · 30/01/2020 18:26

It was leftover slow cooked pork here, thrown into a freshly made peas stew. Unashamedly low effort.

GracefulHippo · 30/01/2020 18:30

We went for pre-marinated rack of pork (a la Tesco), stew left overs, roasted potatoes and vegetables.

Mr Hippo is in charge of putting children to bed. He has been travelling extensively during all illness. Little Hippo (who’s vomit I have been cleaning up and who I have slept next to during a week of flu and constant coughs and crying) has declared that she LOVES her daddy. What mummy? Angry

yolofish · 30/01/2020 18:35

Kids are bastards gracefulhippo. I'd have a nice restorative glass of someting if I were you while DH does the child wrangling.

TheMustressMhor · 30/01/2020 18:35

Will nobody admit to beans on toast?

Darling Hippo - babies/toddlers/teenagers all test our patience and our emotions to very extreme limits.

You have my sympathy.

7Worfs · 30/01/2020 18:43

Well I’ve temporarily suspended the 16:8 eating.
Currently on the sofa with the shortbread biscuits from the Queen. Can’t get in a comfy position though. Angry

TheMustressMhor · 30/01/2020 18:46

7Worfs

Over the last two years I have lost six stone.

I paused my healthy eating plan (and 16:8) over Christmas and cannot motivate myself to start again.

Somebody kick me (figuratively) as I have four /five stone to lose.

OP posts:
7Worfs · 30/01/2020 19:00

6, that’s very impressive, Mustress!

I gained 4 stones in pregnancy- had HG and lost weight in the first trimester, then literally didn’t stop eating for the 2nd and 3rd.

Thanks to 16:8 and breastfeeding I’m now back to my old weight but my body looks nothing like it. I need to start lifting weights to get some muscle back...

I think a break is good, gives the body a jolt. Keto is also very effective, but it’s not for me.

What is this " or " of which you speak?

TheMustressMhor · 30/01/2020 19:30

LaMarschallin

It should have read "with ketchup, Worcester sauce, HP sauce, mayonnaise and salad cream", obviously.

Just a little typo.

Is your user name due to Die Rosenkavalier? I have always wondered.

Will scrambled egg and tinned tomatoes on toast do? It's my comfort meal when I need something to eat but can't think what. I have it more than I care to admit.

LaMarschallin · 30/01/2020 19:58

It should have read "with ketchup, Worcester sauce, HP sauce, mayonnaise and salad cream", obviously.

Sounds perfect Smile

Is your user name due to Die Rosenkavalier? I have always wondered

It is indeed!
I was reading a book in which a minor character sang that role.

Not sure now why I went for it because the character wasn't all that nice, and I'm not a femme fatale like LM.

But it feels like me now, iyswim.

I love your name and would be interested to know where it came from

TheMustressMhor · 30/01/2020 19:58

Oh fleas I think scrambled egg passes muster.

I had it last night. I am not so keen on tinned tomatoes, though. But if you like them, why not?

I like tinned beans and sausage but think they have changed the sausage lately. It used to be much softer and yummier.

OP posts:
7Worfs · 30/01/2020 20:02

Mischief your comfort meal just reminded of one I had as a child at my grandmother's:

Canned tomatoes (homemade)
Chopped white onion
Black olives
A drizzle of olive oil

Dip in fresh bread.

Magic.

GracefulHippo · 30/01/2020 20:06

On the wine now, watching a midsummer murder re-run. Thank you everyone!

Am so inspired about your stories of weight loss Mustress and 7. My weight has been slowly creeping up the past two years and I am trying to get into the frame of mind to start to address it properly!

BabySharksMummyShark · 30/01/2020 20:17

Wow Mustress and 7 thats amazing weight loss!

I have 6st to lose have been trying to loose it for the last 2 and half years! I just cant get the will power. I short bursts and then fall royally off the wagon.

Daddy shark is the same hippo, mucking around and laughter and hyperness when he is in charge, and i have to deal with the fall out 🙄

7 shortbread from the queen! Its just amazing!

GracefulHippo · 30/01/2020 20:21

Haha Shark, happy to hear Mr Hippo not is alone.

< taking another sip of wine as Mr Hippo heads up the stairs >

Actually I found a lot of support on MN, I was/partly still am on a thread called Lose 7lbs/3kg a month, it's an ongoing thread ran by cricketmum84, it's really helpful for accountability and because it has been running for over a year, it has morphed into a small community like we have here.
