Hello again everyone, just wanted to say I’m proud of everyone (including myself) for getting to the half way mark!

I’m sleeping really well, I feel like I’d forgotten what decent sleep was. I’m not diving out of bed at 7, I could do with a couple of hours more.

DP and I are going to try and moderate massively after DJ. We’ve decided that we’ll have one blow out (dinner and drinks) night per month plus we’ll drink on birthdays, weddings etc We don’t have that many of these. We really want to try and not slip back into the “drinking because it’s the weekend” mindset.

The issue I’m having is that I seem to be replacing alcohol with chocolate and cake.

I really did wobble yesterday during the day but the evening was much better. I find if I wobble I go on the Try Dry app and look at my badges. This should not work as I'm not a 3-year old looking at my sticker chart, but it does.

I weighed myself and I've finally lost a couple of pounds so that's pleasing (after an up and down week). I have 4 stones to lose. The total lack of alcohol-fuelled evening snacking must be helping. It's amazing how it makes you want to eat at 10pm, isn't it? I never think about food then when I don't drink.

I’m in. Definitely need this thread to help me get to end of January. Plus I want to work out how to manage February onwards. I do want to enjoy a drink but not go back to old habits.

I have come into my business premises to find a leak from upstairs and water everywhere. What with things like that and my mum I do think that I am dealing better with the stresses and ups and downs of life better than if I was using wine as a crutch.

Onwards dry adventures to the second half of January.

I was thinking it should be called Juicy January instead what with all the hydrating were doing and not the dehydration that we do to our bodies with alcohol.

Past the halfway mark now. So proud of myself that I have made it this far. I am still expecting to wake up and see a transformed glowy skinned wrinkle free slim me which is yet to appear (and probably unlikely ever to reappear).That little voice in my head keeps saying if theres no physical changes whats the point but its only been two weeks so I will plod on and be hopeful . Mentally I feel great, positive, clear headed and happy. Keep it up everyone

I like the idea of Juicy January! I'm plodding on. Had a bit of a wobble yesterday - heard something which upset me and made me feel small. I didn't sleep well for worrying and
Thursday evenings have always been a bit of a trigger (woo hoo nearly the weekend)- but am going to employ distractions, remind myself how pleasant last weekend was and how much easier the kids weekend activities felt without feeling fuzzy and tired AND get an early night.
Onwards.

Have been plodding on since my slip up on Sunday.
I've been examining my CS overhang and I dont think its hanging as bad. Result. Of course you have to squint and be looking at a certain angle with the nice soft bedside lamp on in order to see the reduction..... so that's what I'll be doing tonight

Checking in for the first time in a few days. Still dry and have at last lost some weight - only a couple of lbs but I'm happy with that.

Sleeping amazingly well and feeling better all round. Feel the same as Bettyjean and really want to moderate after January, especially now I know I can do this. Honestly thought it would be so much harder. Skinny liver, skinny liver, skinny liver.

Checking in. Still here but next couple of days are going to be tough as I am going out with friends. It will only be during the day shopping & lunching (plus a cinema trip) but lunch is usually pub lunch with a pint .

Thanks for the new thread. Being accountable on here has helped enormously.

I’m considering being t-total 99% of the time. So I’ll raise a toast and enjoy a glass or two of fizz at weddings, occasionally enjoy a cocktail if I go somewhere particularly nice but pretty much not drinking at any other time.

Still going. Halfway. Drinking loads of Rooibos tea, and dunking ginger biscuits in it. No urge to drink today, and I have AF fizz for tomorrow if I want.

Hello 👋 Can I recommend Kick the Drink Easily by Jason Vale? It helped me to see that alcohol didn’t do anything good for me and did a lot of bad.
His argument goes that you’re not “giving up” anything and once you realise that it’s easy to stop.
Well I messed up a few times last year but I’m hoping I can definitely kick the habit this time.

We're just at the in laws for dinner, we won't have any alcohol here anyway but I'm feeling knackered and it's not I want to have a drink but I think I need to do something when I get home like have a hot bath with essential oils and Epsom salts. Was supposed to come on a week ago and still haven't although been having bad period pains so just feeling a bit eurk!

16 days af, I feel so much more motivated about life and everything when I don't drink.

I feel as though it’s been (mostly) easier than I thought it would be. So glad I tried.

As with others, Friday and Saturday will be crunch time.

To be fair, I never really drank from Sunday to Wednesday. Just drank my weekly units (and then some) on a Thursday/Friday/Saturday. So I’m not noticing anything different during the week, apart from better sleep.

Still dry here. Nearly caved last weekend and went and bought wine, but didn’t open it. It’s at the back of a cupboard til Feb.
