Been watching snippets of the Golden Globes tonight. Ricky appeared to be tearing into the audience, few were spared. Was it honest, or just for laughs?

Can't stand the bloke, or any other comedian, who makes fun of disabled people. (He used to refer to people with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome as "the one where people are too tired to work").

I enjoyed this. I wish we could go back to actors/comedians entertaining us and not lecturing. I don't care what they think. Look at the effect they have had on Brexit and US/UK elections. Had the opposite effect. The letter some celebs signed against Scottish independence made me want to vote the opposite and I'm a die hard No
Grin

He was bloody brilliant, in touch enough to know that we (or just me) is sick to death of famous people pontificating and thinking we actually take notice, they should stick to the acting, his work for animal rights is amazing, this is where he uses his fame for a good cause, fair play to him, long may he rant!

I don't know what his speech was like, I've never watched anything he is in since he justified calling people mongs, vile man. I don't care how clever he is, who he cuts down he isn't someone I would want to watch.

I believe he was supposed to have apologised eventually but I don't know if he did or how sincere it was.

Very very funny man. Most of the celebs didn't know how to act after each joke lol.

BumbleBeee69 · 07/01/2020 22:11

that's because he is ignorant.. and not actually funny atall.. Hmm

Ricky Gervais is funny here. Really funny. But I think his atheism is unfunny. Not offensive, just unfunny and a bit tired because it's almost accepted opinion now in the uk. I find his honesty funny though in general, the way he ignores and subverts "accepted" thought on weight, addiction, celebrity, looks etc. His delivery, the way he can laugh like he doesn't give a shit is amazing and true acting I'd say!!!
