Suitable for a twelve year old and a fifteen year old. We watched Notting Hill and the both laughed a lot, but I did fast forward the odd bit that I felt too adult for younger dd in particular ( the restaurant scene etc). Older dd only just 15. They would like a Rom com or costume drama type thing. Enjoyed Jane Eyre , and the Jennifer Ehle Pride and Prejudice. Hate things like Home Alone, eg slapstick.
My mind has gone blank ! Can be 1930s onward really, as we do watch old films too.

Local Hero would be good. Humour, romance, Americans, beautiful scenery and a fun plot.

We have found lots of the 80s stuff filled with sexist bits. I get the kids to spot it and we talk about it.

84 Charing Cross Rd - gentle romance between 2 (not young) adults based on their written correspondence across the Atlantic, with Antony Hopkins. Grown-up, a bit sad in places, but not too 'adult'.

Romancing the Stone..? Might have a couple of adult-ish scenes (check common sense media?)
