Can't promise that I will exercise every day or eat healthy every day but I am going to try and be mindful of what I eat and try to be more active.

I'm 16 stone 5.5 lb, size 18/20 and am 5'.4"

Must remember that slow and steady wins the race.

Good luck to everybody. I'm not weighing myself any more than once a month, I keep/kept doing that, leaping on and off the scales several times a day and that doesn't work for me.

I do boxfit once a week, aquahiit once a week and rowing at the gym and swimming, 2 or 3 times a week. I'm watching what I eat and sticking roughly to 1500-1600 calories a day.

I've gone down a dress size since the beginning of December.

allyouneedis · 29/01/2020 22:49

@73kittycat73 Thanks for the welcome! I haven’t picked a specific diet just going to cut out junk, make healthier choices and cut down on fizzy Juice. I have tried to cut Fizzy juice out completely before but I always went back to drinking it so I’m going to cut down which is better than nothing I think. 🤞🏻

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 29/01/2020 22:58

Joining in as my BMI is in the high 30s. I have cut out all processed food and sweet stuff and no snacking between meals. (The Human Being Diet)

Lost about half a stone so far (I weigh myself in kg).

@allyouneedis Ah, my nemesis is PepsiMax. I only have one a day though. You've got to have something right? Grin
@GetTheStartyParted I've never tried Keto before and I was also a sugar addict (Looking through my favourites on Sainsburys' online looks like a sugar fest!) but I've found it really OK so far. At first I had hunger pangs mid afternoon, but now I am used to the diet I don't feel hungry at all. Good luck to you, keep us updated.
@LyingWitchInTheWardrobe Wow, you sound energetic (Is secretly jealous.)! Congrats on dropping a dress size.
@ChazsBrilliantAttitude My BMI was about 33 also. I carry 90% of my weight on my stomach. Sounds like you are doing excellent though!

Ifeelinclined · 30/01/2020 01:03

Hi! Can I join? I have hit a plateau after losing about 25 lbs. so I am now low carbing it. It's hard, but manageable so far! Not sure I've lose much yet, but I try not to weigh very often and am noticing my stomach getting smaller.

73kittycat73 · 30/01/2020 12:22

Hi Ifeelinclined welcome aboard. Smile Congrats on the 25lbs! I'm low carb too. Mostly it's OK, but then I'll see an ad on TV for pizza...Lol Still, haven't given in yet.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 30/01/2020 13:04

73kittycat, I probably do sound energetic but I'm really not. I have to make myself go to the gym and I grumble in the car all the way there.

I've done NOTHING this week apart from cough and sneeze with this bug that's going around. I did at least feel guilty about not exercising... and that would have been unheard of six months ago. I'm still astonished that it's become a habit, albeit a good one for a change. Grin

I haven't eaten much either because my throat is sore. I don't know how many calories in cough mixture, but I don't care.

GetTheStartyParted · 30/01/2020 15:08

Thanks @73kittycat73 I am following a meal plan in a recipe book I bought. Being strict with it seems to be helping and I haven't really felt hungry, just a little light headed at times as I'm not eating breakfast until around 10.30am (after work).

I weighed myself this morning, only done 3 full days and lost 6lbs already! So happy.

I am a sugar addict too so I'm hoping to learn healthier habits and stick to them once I've lost weight.

GetTheStartyParted · 02/02/2020 09:03

How is everyone doing?

Weekends were always my downfall. Lazing at home equalled snacking and takeaway, busy and out equalled meals out.

This weekend though, the meal plan is working well. I packed a lunch to take with me yesterday and ate in the car Grin, returning home to the ingredients to make a quick dinner. I have prepared lunch to take with us today.

I hope you're all feeling ok.

Iheartdonuts · 03/02/2020 19:45

Well I lost another 2lbs last week but nothing this week which is disappointing as I've logged absolutely everything and only weng over my calories on friday by about 800 due to going out for food after work. Usually that would be it for me, but I've managed to get back on the wagon so hopefully I'll have a better result next week.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 03/02/2020 20:32

I’ve lost about 5lb this week but I am in the early stages so I expect this to slow down.

GetTheStartyParted · 04/02/2020 15:52

Well done.
I have the big first week loss, which doesn't really count. 10lbs for me and 7lbs for my husband.
I hope to lose 2/3lbs a week from now on.

@Iheartdonuts it's always disappointing when you know you deserve to lose some but sometimes you lose a little more the next week, so keep plodding on.

aibutohavethisusername · 04/02/2020 21:43

Well done everyone.

Wow GetTheStartyParted I never ever get a big first week loss.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 04/02/2020 23:07

It’s quite normal to have the odd plateau. Your body sometimes just needs time to adjust to the change. The systems are designed to maintain an equilibrium and losing weight changes that balance. The body needs to reset to the new situation.

73kittycat73 · 05/02/2020 11:47

Hello everyone. Smile Congrats to all that have lost lbs. Star
I get weighed again on Tuesday.
I'm mainly doing the diet for diabetes (Type 2) reasons. Did a finger prick test today and my sugars were low. I actually need something sugary! Grin Just had plain porridge for breakfast so hopefully that's helped.
Good luck everyone, keep going!

aibutohavethisusername · 05/02/2020 12:36

73kittycat73 Do you have any tips. I have type 2 too and my blood test results were the same as last year. I don’t check them at home.

73kittycat73 · 05/02/2020 18:21

Hi, @aibutohavethisusername I bought my own Blood Glucose monitor from Amazon, I only used it for the first time today. It's pretty straight forward, though my fingers didn't half hurt from the prick!
As for diabetes, I've been diagnosed a good 2-3 years. I'm ashamed to say I didn't take it seriously at all before (Eating chocolate and cakes daily. Blush ) until I had a bad blood test result (High cholesterol, liver, etc.). So for the last 2 and a bit weeks I've been basing my diet on The Fast 800 diet. Basically, 800 calories a day, and very low carb. I've managed to stick to it as I've hardly felt hungry. Next week I'm changing to 5:2, 1200 calories on non fast days (5) and 800 calories a day on the two fast days (2)
I hope I've explained that OK, must dash, gotta get something out the oven!

aibutohavethisusername · 05/02/2020 20:47

Hi, yes that has explained it well. I have downloaded an app called lifesum which does various calorie counting things. I think it also allows you to do 5:2 on there. I tried it for a while and then took the plunge and paid £17.50 for a year’s subscription.

73kittycat73 · 06/02/2020 11:32

Hi, @aibutohavethisusername, good luck with the course. Are you doing 5:2 or just a low calorie diet?

aibutohavethisusername · 06/02/2020 12:01

I’m trying to do low calorie but I keep going over. I was really faint yesterday. My colleagues went home and left me for three hours with three doughnuts. Because I was faint I ended up eating one. Will see how I’ve done on Monday and reassess.

GetTheStartyParted · 06/02/2020 14:42

@aibutohavethisusername and @73kittycat73 I'm taking it seriously this time as my dad has type 2 and it's inevitable the way I'm going. I need to change my habits. But it definitely is another challenge for you whilst dieting!

73kittykat73 are you doing keto or low calorie? If it's keto, then I had the most delicious pizza last night! Saw you said that pizza was tempting you. Pretty sure the fat content makes it a terrible choice for other diets though...i miss fruit and veg! Keto is restrictive but I haven't been hungry despite small portions, it's all such rich food.

73kittycat73 · 06/02/2020 19:25

@aibutohavethisusername One out of three isn't bad! I hope you don't feel light headed too much? Maybe you need to up you calories a bit? How many a day are you sticking too? Do you have a very physical lifestyle? Don't forget to factor that in.
Hi @GetTheStartyParted I'm sort of doing keto and low calorie. I'm veggie too but have found some nice meat substitutes (I can recommend Richmond Meat Free sausages, only 115c for two, and Sainsburys' Plant Pioneers veggie 'chicken' nuggets.) I'm trying to keep my carbs as low as possible. I think that's how Keto works right?
Anyway, pizza sounds so good! Grin I miss fruit too. I've hardly been hungry too, I think that's why I'm sticking to it.

WendyWonka · 06/02/2020 20:05

Hi all. Hope you don’t mind me joining in. I’ve gone from 18 stone 2lb to 14 stone 5 lb in the last 18 months and I’m trying to ramp it up now (another 3 stone to go to be in a healthy weight range for my height).

It has been very slow, hardly losing anything some months. I have hypothyroidism which although I’m medicated for, I still have symptoms and finding it difficult to lose weight is one of them!

I’ve lost the most weight (2 stone 5lb) over the last 4 months but I had to increase going to the gym from 3 times a week to 6 times a week! Which I have worked into my daily routine now, actually feel twitchy on my day off Shock. I also had to cut out gluten and most processed foods but I still eat quite a bit and don’t allow myself to be hungry. No toast smothered in butter before bed anymore though! I am finding that as I’m weight training, I am changing shape (size 14/16 now from 20/22) although it’s not reflected on the scales so much. I’ve just incorporated walking the 3 miles to the gym and back as well as my normal workout so hoping to see good results from that at the end of the month.

I found that the more I exercise, the cleaner my diet has become because I know what effort it took to burn x amount of calories off.

I am determined to wear shorts this summer with no inner thigh riding up or chafing!

Hope you all keeping on keeping on.

73kittycat73 · 07/02/2020 01:28

Hi @WendyWonka Your exercise regime sounds awesome! I understand about thyroid issues (My Nan and Mum have an underactive thyroid) and I've just been diagnosed with a sub-clinical underactive thyroid. They want to test again in six months time before they put me on medication. The weight you've lost is awesome though! Star My mum has also lost 5 stone and is trying to lose some more. Good luck with the shorts, but doesn't sound like you need it! Smile

GetTheStartyParted · 07/02/2020 16:08

@WendyWonka That's amazing, well done. The gym routine sounds intense. Glad it's working for you.

@73kittycat73 keto is extreme low carbing so many fruits and vegetables are either restricted or not suitable at all. My sister is vegan and told me about those sausages, she loves them too! But they are more than half of my carb allowance for the day. I have 20g or less.

Weekend is looming again, hope I can stay organised again to avoid temptation.
