She was wearing a crochet top with no bra underneath

Just curious as to what other people would make of this? I was in Jamaica recently, and one night at the bar (in a family hotel), a woman of about 35/40 years old, was wearing a crochet top, with quite large holes in it, with no bra underneath. Breasts and nipples clearly on show. At some points she as chatting with groups of local men, at another point she plonked herself down at the table with me, my DH and some other people. No idea who she was actually with. Is it me, or is this really inappropriate?

I guess, but curious to know why you're starting a thread about it despite it not happened now or even today

ClemDanFango · 31/12/2019 20:14

Meh it’s just boobs. If she’s not bothered why should anyone else be?

DinoSn0re · 31/12/2019 20:15

It’s not something I would do (because I’ve got massive boobs that always need the support of a bra), but I wouldn’t really notice and definitely wouldn’t get worked up about it. Would it bother you to see a man with his chest/nipples exposed? Probably not. So why is it inappropriate if a woman chooses to do that?

lottiedelavega · 31/12/2019 20:15

She clearly made an impact on you op Grin

MoonlightMistletoe · 31/12/2019 20:15

Perhaps in Jamaica they are comfortable wearing what they want and that's the norm there? I've never been so I have no idea but I'm sure places abroad have naked beaches etc so my guess is everywhere is different.

DinoSn0re · 31/12/2019 20:21

She clearly made an impact on you op

I wonder if she made an impact on OP’s husband too Grin

Longblondeandblueeyes · 31/12/2019 20:22

The woman was English. Definitely not something the local women would ever do. Why do people on MN compare a mans chest to breasts? That's not the same and you know it. If it was, you'd be happy for your 15 year old daughter to walk around topless in the UK in summer.

I love how on mumsnet everyone acts like they'd be totally cool with this and would barely remember it the next day 😂

Longblondeandblueeyes · 31/12/2019 20:23

Really not bothered about DH - my boobs are way bigger than this ladies! Blush

SlightlyStaleCocoPops · 31/12/2019 20:23

This is definitely a thing that happened.

lifeisgoodmostofthetime · 31/12/2019 20:23

I bet the above posters would have something different to say if the same woman sat down at their table with their husband and family!

Longblondeandblueeyes · 31/12/2019 20:24

Flossie yeah, I know. Like you'd not bat an eye at that in Tesco. This was a family hotel. Seemed a very weird way to dress. It wasn't exactly the Hedonism Resort.

QueefLatifah · 31/12/2019 20:26

Well she left a lasting impression. You even managed to compare sizes

DamsonDress · 31/12/2019 20:27

Lucky her. If I went out without a bra I would sweep entire roads clean. Like cars could go missing. It would be almost apocalyptic.

Caramel78 · 31/12/2019 20:27

I wouldn’t like this at all. Do the MNs who say “they are just breasts” go to restaurants etc with their boobs completely on show if it’s not inappropriate in their eyes?

Longblondeandblueeyes · 31/12/2019 20:28

I was tipsy myself, and I actually said "Wow your tits are on show". Blush

Sizeofalentil · 31/12/2019 20:29

What did she say to that?!

Hearhoovesthinkzebras · 31/12/2019 20:29

I'd also feel the same if a man turned up in the hotel bar/restaurant wearing a see through top.

Bare chests fine around the pool, not over dinner, no matter what sex the owner is.

Smellbellina · 31/12/2019 20:30

Grin what did she say to that?!

NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 31/12/2019 20:30

Really not bothered about DH - my boobs are way bigger than this ladies!

Phew, what a relief! Hmm

Her body, her choice I guess. I wouldn’t do it because I don’t like attracting male attention, so I would probably infer that she did. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I don’t really see any harm though.

Mrshue · 31/12/2019 20:32

@DamsonDress. I woke my kids up laughing to your comment!!!

That was classic. Thank you!!!!!

stillhangingon · 31/12/2019 20:32

It would definitely make me feel uncomfortable if a stranger sat at my table with her breasts mostly visible, yes.
On the other hand, fair play to her to feel confident enough.
Your comment that you weren’t bothered because your boobs are way bigger than this ladies i find strange though. Hmm

Morgan12 · 31/12/2019 20:32

People always use the 'men can do this' card.

Yes men can. Their breasts aren't sexualised. That's just the way it is.

So when my family went to Crete when I was 14 and my brother was 13. He went topless. I didn't. Do you honestly think my parents should have allowed me to aswell? No big deal right? It's just boobs?

JamesBlonde1 · 31/12/2019 20:34

Only on MN is it ok to walk around with your tits out. Everywhere else, where people are normal, it's not ok.

You shouldn't have bothered OP, some women on here think you should walk round in a completely see through dress in Aldi, cos tits are just to feed babies don't you know.

OP, I wouldn't have worn it either, but then again, I'm not a big attention seeker.

For those thinking it was ok, if it was too warm or uncomfortable for her to wear a bra, should she just have gone bare breasted whilst eating her all inclusive nosh? GrinGrin

lottiedelavega · 31/12/2019 20:35

I'd be shocked in Tesco. Wouldn't be shocked on holiday.

Your boobs are better as their bigger? I think men prefer smaller, perkier boobs these days, and I say that as a woman with 32ees Blush(not that that matters here, just making a point)
