She was wearing a crochet top with no bra underneath

Just curious as to what other people would make of this? I was in Jamaica recently, and one night at the bar (in a family hotel), a woman of about 35/40 years old, was wearing a crochet top, with quite large holes in it, with no bra underneath. Breasts and nipples clearly on show. At some points she as chatting with groups of local men, at another point she plonked herself down at the table with me, my DH and some other people. No idea who she was actually with. Is it me, or is this really inappropriate?

Maybe she had a boob job too and was showing off their fabness. Or maybe she was wearing something she liked on holiday. Or maybe as she wasn't actually harming anyone, she didn't give a shit.

I'm wondering if she was the mother or elder sister of someone I saw at St Paul's carnival in Bristol a couple of years ago wearing a fishnet dress, like the ones you can buy in sex shops, with no bra and a very skimpy thong. The funny thing is most men were looking in the opposite direction. 👠

I spent a whole summer in the Eighties wearing two crochet tops, at the same time, in the hope that the patterns wouldn't overlap, so to speak, and no bra.

I always think it’s a shame when women’s outfit choices are judged. What we chose to wear, especially on holiday, should be of no concern to anyone else.

Well at 18, she’d be an adult so really there’s not a lot I could do anyway. I’d certainly ask whether a club would even allow her in in that outfit as most clubs have a dress code (to an extent) but the woman you’re talking about wasn’t somewhere with rules about dress I’m assuming?

A lot of young girls do go clubbing with most of their tits on view that's why tit tape is so popular.

p.p.s in the 90s when I used to go clubbing you saw all sorts of weird and wonderful outfits. Most people wouldn't have batted an eyelid at a fishnet top.

The UK also rightly or wrongly doesn’t have the same view of topless women as other countries. A topless 15 year old would draw stares and not all of them innocent in the UK.

Please correct me if I’m wrong, but afaik there are a handful of Northern European countries who take a very pragmatic view of nudity while most of the rest of the world is generally more, rather than less, prudish than the UK.

This is so bizarre! Of course that’s a totally ridiculous outfit and so many people claiming they would not bat an eyelid and the OP is the one with the problem. I’d assume the woman was a potentially a prostitute, or attention seeking massively. How many people have actually seen a woman dressed like that in that setting? I never have . It’s massively rare because it’s just not appropriate whatever else people try to pretend.

@taraohara assuming someone is a prostitute based on what they chose wear is incredibly judgemental, why can this woman not just make her own choices about how to dress? Why does she have to be a prostitute based on her outfit choice. Absolutely shocking how much women are judged based on their clothes in a way that men seldom are. Makes me despair.

I would notice if anyone had their nipples poking through a top, as that’s human nature. But unless they are rubbing their nipples in my face why would I even care. Good on this woman for having the confidence to wear what she wants.
