None of this ‘I’m a stone overweight and huuuuuuge.’

I’m 15 stone. At least 5 to lose for normal BMI. Anyone else? This is the place for proper fat MNetters.

Me, although I'm quite a bit fatter than you Blush. I need to lose about 5 stone to get to where you are. Dh was diagnosed with diabetes this week and I'm going to try and follow the low carb diet with him. I know it works really well for me, I just find it really hard to stick to.

christmasstress · 27/12/2019 10:08

Yep. 19st here. Properly fat!

codenameduchess · 27/12/2019 10:14

I'm about 19 stone and 5' 10", done several diets and I lose weight so slowly I always loose motivation. The lightest I've been in years is 17 stone, at worst I was 21 stone.

I'm surprisingly healthy but just had a baby and had gestational diabetes and now have a very high chance of developing type 2 diabetes in the next 5-10 years so I'm desperate to do something about it.

PhysaliaPhysalis · 27/12/2019 10:16

Yeah, I reckon I'm about 16 stone now. I'll try and do something about it (again!) this year but like PP, I lose motivation fairly easily.

Plus it's not entirely helpful when husband and sons moan about 'healthy food'.

soccerbabe · 27/12/2019 10:18

me too (more like 16 stone). really don't want to yoyo, need to force myself to exercise more and eat more healthily and repeat x the next 40 years!

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 27/12/2019 10:18

Me too!

2000lightyearsaway123 · 27/12/2019 10:21

I need to lose a whole one of you and I would still be overweight OP. 2020 is going to be the year I do this though Smile

Gilead · 27/12/2019 10:25

Yes, on steroids, waiting for a hip replacement so can’t exercise short, fat and miserable!

UnicornGlitter · 27/12/2019 10:28

Me! I claim I've been trying but it's been half hearted so far, Determined to make 2020 the year!

onioncrumble · 27/12/2019 10:31

This time last year was 15.8. Now 8.5 stone. Bariatric surgery was the best thing I ever did, not an easy way out by any means but I am healthy, fit and it's really true, however sad, that people treat thin people with more respect. I wish I had done it 10 years ago rather than wasting years feeling shit about myself. The medical conditions that stopped me losing weight have now gone.

CookPassBabtridge · 27/12/2019 10:31

I was 20 stone last year and now 12 stone and happy, it took 9 months to get off and I've maintained for 6.
I do laugh at the threads on here complaining of being fat and they're still a size 12 Grin but it's all relative I guess. There's ALOT of super slim people on this forum compared to what I see in person.

leghairdontcare · 27/12/2019 10:35

I've just had a baby and haven't weighed myself recently but I was about 20st at 16 weeks. BMI was 43!

I honestly don't feel like I have the energy to diet. Also, January is the worst month to start a diet. It's depressing enough as it is.

justfornowiguess · 27/12/2019 10:48

I've actually no idea what I weigh right now but I've been overweight my entire life and obese for most of that. I'd guess I'm about 15 stone but can't face seeing that having been around the 12 stone mark a year or two ago - my highest recorded weight is about 18-19 stones, admittedly that was many many years ago. Basically I'm bookmarking this thread until I face the scales inevitably in the new year Confused

Dowser · 27/12/2019 11:00

I’m not overweight but like a lot of people a few pounds lost wouldn’t go amiss but over a year ago I decided to get well first, then tackle the weight.
I ve had terrible ibs and it’s been a long time sorting itself out but I’ve noticed that by not eating for 6 months the foods that inflamed my ibs ( gluten and dairy) I appear to have lost weight while eating normally.
Ie eating when I’m hungry and stopping after my last meal.

I swapped my organic egg Breakfast omelette which did me little good for everything in it home made gf oat muesli every day for breakfast with nuts, seeds and dried fruit..and I’ve seen a huge difference in my health . Elimination is a doddle now compared to how it was. Plus there’s masses of good nutrition in the breakfast.

I said I wasn’t going to a diet club ever again..I’ve been to them for years..I’m just going to work with my body. Put in good fuel that’s not going to irritate it and it ought to serve me well.

I too didn’t have the energy to tackle yet another diet. I’m nearly 68 . I need to put good health first to get me through my 70s and beyond.
I’m not much of a drinker,
It’s been my first gf and df Christmas and I didn’t wake up on Boxing Day feeling ill and I didn’t feel at all deprived on Christmas Day.

It might not be everyone’s solution..but if you haven’t considered it it might be worth giving it a try.
My dh sinuses are so much better. He breathes better and doesn’t snore as much and he’s given up wearing his hearing aids.

Good luck ladies. I hope you didn’t mind me mentioning that.

Selfsettling3 · 27/12/2019 11:00

leghairdontcare my baby is 5 months and I feel ready to face my fat now. She will start food in a few weeks and eventually will be feeding less so I need to get a handle on my calorie intake now.

madroid · 27/12/2019 11:09

Yep I'm properly fat. I lose a stone fairly easily (3 times this year!) Then put it back on again. The menopause has not been kind to me plus v long hours v regularly at work which is sedentary.

If I walk in my lunch hour, exercise on my treadmill or dance or something else in the evening and cut out carbs - mostly bread - then I lose. But never seem to stick with it.

My weight now stops me having a normal life, I think about long walks, shopping trips, hot weather etc with trepidation about whether I'll cope. It's miserable and I get angry with myself for not sorting it out.

Pinksands1 · 27/12/2019 11:10

Me! I'm at my very heaviest of 21 stone. Sore feet and now can feel my knees starting to hurt. Thing is, I eat because I'm happy, sad, stressed, tired and food sometimes seems the only comfort in what I feel is quite a boring life. I'm not sure I know how to lose weight but I desperately want to.

I can definitely relate to being treated badly because of how I look 🙁

NothingIsWrong · 27/12/2019 11:13

I'm 15st. I need to lose 3st and even then I will only just be tipping into the healthy range of BMI = 25.

It depresses me intensely. I wish I didn't care about food so much, it consumes my thoughts at the moment. But 2020 needs to be the year I lose this, I'm nearly 42 and I do not want to be like this anymore.
