None of this ‘I’m a stone overweight and huuuuuuge.’

I’m 15 stone. At least 5 to lose for normal BMI. Anyone else? This is the place for proper fat MNetters.

Me! Not giving out the numbers. Sorry. But I feel awful. Piled on so much weight the latter half of this year through injury and being unable to exercise. Am now stuck in the vicious cycle of no motivation/low mood/self medicating with food. Try every day to break the cycle then fail by noon and write the day off, use it as an excuse to eat more food. Any suggestions/support would be greatly appreciated.

Shinyletsbebadguys · 27/12/2019 11:20

I was 16 stone 10 this time last year and yep really pissed me off when people said they were fat when they were like half a stone overweight. I remember cheering the day my BMI went from obese to overweight (I know it's a blunt tool but still) and walked around with a smile for a week when it hit normal.

I know people will say oh its Allah bout how you feel and someone small can feel overweight too , but its galling to bloody hear when you cant get up the stairs in one go because of your weight.

I've had some success with weight loss this year and lost just under 7 stone but I haven't forgotten how tough it was a year ago!

TheReluctantCountess · 27/12/2019 11:20

Me. I’ve always been fat. It doesn’t help that I’ve recently started anti depressants which have made me put on even more weight.

Me at 17 stones am officially obese. I am still 9 stones lighter than I was before my bariatric surgery so am grateful for that. I should have known that PCOS was going to bugger up my chances of ever being a healthy weight but oh well!

I still did a half marathon this year and intend to do more running and distance walking next year. Whatever the scales say I am healthier than I was so just do what you can do. Any effort is better than letting it take you over and giving up.

Slazengerbag · 27/12/2019 11:28

I have 9 stone to lose!! I w got an exercise bike and some dumbbells to help with exercise.

I’ve spent years ‘treating’ myself with crap food. I’m going to be treating myself with healthy nutritious food. I’m concentrating on health more than weight loss. I’m hoping with being more healthily the weight will come off naturally. I’ve spent a lot of time this holiday reading about nutrition and I even put a post on here about it. I’ve got a food shop being delivered on Monday which is all healthy foods.

I’m actually excited for it and got up and went for a walk today.

movinggoalposts · 27/12/2019 11:34

I’m not at my heaviest but I am several stones heavier than I used to be and it’s a risk factor for my illness so I need to get a grip.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 27/12/2019 11:34

Me.

Lost a stone last year.

I have to keep it up, it's sooooo sloooooow, but, better than where I was last year, I guess.

Margotsmom · 27/12/2019 11:40

Me ! I’m around 15 stone 6 right now. My highest was 17 but then joined slimming world and lost 3 and that took me down to 14 stone.

Sadly gained some back but re joining in January. I’m so used to being fat that I’m slightly worried of being proper thin that I might not feel like myself. Would like to get to 14 and go from there.

ouch321 · 27/12/2019 11:41

I hate that the max you can possibly lose in a day is 2000 cals or half a pound and for that you have to not eat all day, but, in the space of say 30mins you can eat thousands of calories eg pizza, ice cream.

Pieceofpurplesky · 27/12/2019 11:46

@CookPassBabtridge how did you lose that amount? Congratulations - you must feel amazing

Gabrielknight · 27/12/2019 11:47

I was 16stone, currently down to 13 in 6 months so I'm on the way!

BahBloodyHumbug · 27/12/2019 11:50

Me. I am obese but carry it well- people always seem surprised to hear what my weight is (or are being polite...)
I'm starting low carb on Jan 1st. It works well for me, but I find it harder to stick to.

joystir59 · 27/12/2019 11:52

This time last year I weighed 14st 9lb. I now weigh 9st 9lb.
So go for it everyone, it can be done!!!

Crunchymum · 27/12/2019 11:56

Very fat here. Need to lose 4st.

Was diagnosed with arthritis 18 months ago and I've gained a stone since (due to steroids and inactivity) but unfortunately I wasn't slim before Sad

Emmas85 · 27/12/2019 12:02

I've just stepped onto the scales and weigh 17stone 5lb. I could cry. I look and feel awful and still find it hard to get motivated!

Milicentbystander72 · 27/12/2019 12:06

I'm 17 stone and am obese. Like a PP I seem to carry it fairly well. People can see I'm slightly overweight but are very surprised if I tell them my weight. I regularly wear a size 18 or even a 16 in clothes.

Having said that I've had a very unhealthy year.

I have a dog and walk him miles every day, however I've been feeling very sluggish and lacking energy because of the peri-menopause/menopause.
In August I feel really ill with digestion problems. I literally found it painful to digest any food and didn't have a solid bowel movement for months. I was scanned for gallstones (which I gave hundreds of) but the GP wouldn't refer me on for surgery as she wasn't convinced I was feeling so ill because of gallstones.
I was worried sick. Eventually after another round of extensive blood tests they found i had a form of food poisoning that had taken hold in my gut and hadn't cleared. A round of string anti-b's cleared it up eventually.
Over the months I'd lost nearly a stone because I could barely eat. However when I felt better I was so bloody hungry I put the stone back on fairly quickly!

I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I've been on every diet I can think of throughout my life and I'm fatter than ever. I may just try and go healthy as much as I can and see what happens. Part of me wants to give up though.

blackistheneworange · 27/12/2019 12:09

Me too - currently avoiding getting weighed but lost 3st in 2018 and put at least that back on this year. Reckon I've got 5st plus to lose.

Woke up to a sore spot where by blurry overhangs - that's my wake up call I think Sad

Musicalmistress · 27/12/2019 12:10

20 stone (morbidly obese for my height) but going down with hard work - signed up to the gym a few months ago & it's hard but starting to feel a bit of satisfaction each time I've been. Not following a particular diet but planning to try 5:2 in the new year.
Determined not to be this fat & unhealthy next Christmas!

Ginkypig · 27/12/2019 12:17

Iv been somwhere between 9st at the lightest and just under 15 at the heaviest for the last nearly 20 years.

Last time I weighed myself I was 13-6 but the scales have now broken so it's been about 3ish months but I can tell Iv gained more since.

I feel fat and bloated and every time I eat I feel too full to breath, I'm really unhappy with how I feel and how I look. To be honest though it's more about how I feel that I care about.

I have some lifelong medical conditions that are unrelated to the weight. so for me a healthy weight is important as it just makes everything more difficult if I'm carrying more.

QueenOfOversharing · 27/12/2019 12:18

I'm too scared to weigh myself. Was a bit over 15 stone a year ago, but I've gained since then. This is me at my very heaviest. I was always skinny (8.5 stone) then after I had my son I just kept putting it on.

I want to lose 5-6 stone, but I honestly can't decide how to do it. One minute I think low carb (worked before), then I think fasting, then food logging on MFP.

I can get back in the gym, and when I do, I love it. I've not been able to walk my dogs as one has suspected hip dysplasia, so that made things worse. Plus - zero motivation, depression.

Peridot1 · 27/12/2019 12:29

Me. Probably over 16 stone at the moment. Haven’t weighed for a few weeks and don’t intend to until 3 Jan. Have family here for new year and they leave on the 2nd.

I’m going to attempt Dry January again as I drink far too much which as well as being very bad generally is also a huge source of calories.

Aiming to just eat healthy nourishing food. I’ve done well calorie counting before so I’ll probably do that.

I got the new Pinch of Nom book for Xmas and have the first one so between those and other books I have a vast store of recipes to try.

Also aiming for a 30 min walk every day in January at a minimum.

BillywigSting · 27/12/2019 12:30

I'm about 12.5 stone but very very short (under 5ft) and need to loose about 4st to be in the healthy range.

It doesn't like I weigh that much but my legs are that fat I can't even get lace up ankle boots to do up properly, my belly and knees overhang, my thighs rub, I have a triple double chin, and my ankles and back hurt.

I'd be happy at around 9st which is still overweight for me but not massively so, 8.5 is where I look my best I think.

I have this terrible problem where I love cheese and bread and pasta and all of the fattening things too much to ever have a proper sustained go at loosing weight.

I'm going on holiday with the in laws this summer though so perhaps that will give me some motivation?

TheChosenTwo · 27/12/2019 12:39

At the moment I am definitely fat!
I should be comfortably 12 stone, I’m 5ft8 and 12 stone is a healthy weight for me. I’m at least 2 stone (probably more this week!) heavier than that at the moment. I had an accident at the start of the year and I’ve spent a long time immobile recently but, crucially, I haven’t decreased the amount I eat - Because I bloody love food and have a dh who is an excellent cook!
I’m back up on my feet again now but I can feel the extra weight all over me. I hate it and will be working hard to banish it over the next 6 months or so. I will never cut back on food (well, I don’t eliminate food groups etc or follow a diet plan, just eating sensibly and in moderation) I just exercise more.

TheChosenTwo · 27/12/2019 12:40

However, I’m going on holiday tomorrow so there’s no chance of anything happening until I get back Grin

dementedma · 27/12/2019 12:46

Stop dieting! There is a guy on FaceBook called RebelFit who is waging a war against the diet industry, and proving how it actually makes many people gain weight in the long term. He's very interesting.
