None of this ‘I’m a stone overweight and huuuuuuge.’

I’m 15 stone. At least 5 to lose for normal BMI. Anyone else? This is the place for proper fat MNetters.

I want to be friends with you all!
I’m 18 stone and don’t have any fat friends at all.
I was 21 stone a few weeks ago but had major surgery to remove a ovarian tumour that weighed 50 lb......😮😁

codenameduchess · 27/12/2019 21:02

I'm fat and happy! No way in this world I'm buying into the 'New Year New You "self loathing diet shite this year. I gave up dieting this year. And honestly, I'm the happiest I've ever been.

Totally agree with the bs 'new year new you' we are bombarded with, it's so much more important to love yourself and accept who you are rather than focusing on the unhealthy idealised body/lifestyle. I'm a big fan of the body positivity movement and there is nothing to say big isn't beautiful!
I plan to eat better and exercise for my own wellbeing and happiness when I don't have a small human attached to me all day and night (but breastfeeding burns calories anyway right? 😂) but I won't be fixated on the scales or counting every calorie, I just happen to feel better when I do regular-ish exercise.

doublebarrellednurse · 28/12/2019 07:45

@Hefzi sensible ways and about 2 years generally before I became pregnant.

Didn't diet. Just created a more sensible balance in my life

I had therapy and addressed the reasons I got that big in the first place

I learnt to love myself as I was. All 21 stone of me. It was one of the most important things. You can't look after something and care for it if you hate it.

I found exercise that I enjoyed and I started gently and gradually built up

I didn't restrict any food. I accepted that after years of dieting this meant I would go a bit mad to start with. I did. Then it started to settle. Intuitive eating books helped.

I read the goddess revolution and I unfollowed all the fitness stuff I had on social media. I followed people like bodyposipanda and Mel Wells and Rhitrition and yrfatfriend.

I shifted my focus away from weight loss. I focussed on what I wanted my whole life to be like. Ate more veg less meat naturally and experimented with lots of new recipes (I've always enjoyed cooking).

Honestly I became happy as a bigger person. I lost weight quite naturally after that because my body adjusted to me not binging and moving more. It wasn't the giant effort that had always been when dieting. I was kinder to myself and didn't end up in a spiral of failure.

Me! 5'5" and currently 18 stone 9lbs. Actually properly fat. Not as fat as I have been in the past, but a long way from my (still fat) lightest.

Hippywannabe · 28/12/2019 07:56

Me. Just weighed and have hit my all time high.

SnipSnipMrBurgess · 28/12/2019 08:03

I'm 5 ft 2 and weigh almost 16 stone.

I know what I need to do, eat less and move more.

But i find i have not the energy or motivation to do so.

So i eat more and move less. Which gives me less energy.

It's a cycle I'm stuck in at the moment.

Yep. Me too. 15st.

maddiemookins16mum · 28/12/2019 09:19

Me! 14 stone 6 and only 5ft 4.

ChestyNutsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 28/12/2019 09:39

Me!

Lost 4stone but still morbidly obese
I will have gained over Dec, Christmas and holiday Sad

Such hard work to get off, so easy to put on.

While losing weight, slowly and support from a work mate I’ve come to terms that I probably have an eating disorder and have since teen years.

So no radical diets for me, just back to trying to eat sensible regular meals.
No starving, no bingeing, no self loathing.....hopefully.

Good luck everyone Flowers

Looneytune253 · 28/12/2019 10:31

Haha I think it's a matter of perception tho to whether you're 'properly fat' though surely? I am around your weight and a size 14 ish so, although I'm very aware I'm overweight I also know that there are others much much bigger. I wouldn't call someone at your weight 'properly fat' either.

Crunchymum · 28/12/2019 10:53

I'm 40 in June. I set myself a 'lose 52lb in 52 weeks' challenge last June and I reckon I've gained a stone Shock

I really, really need to tackle this. Have arthritis, I had gestational diabetes with my last pregnancy (so I'm at much higher risk of developing T2).

I'm a wreck. I drink too much wine, I make bad food choices.

I set a terrible example to my children.

My plan is 10k steps a day (I'm in a period of remission with my arthritis but in 2018 I could barely walk for 6 months!!) 1200 calories a day (MFP), no alcohol (will start with Dry January but the aim is to become teetotal), and to portion control carbs.

I need to change my mindset and I need to shift some weight. I'm the heaviest I've ever been.

Boreda · 28/12/2019 11:15

Oh I’m so glad you posted this, i haven’t weighed for a while but last time I did I was over 20 st Blush

I’m doing slimming world in the new year, I previously lost 7st on it but fell off the wagon massively. I’m doing it from home though I don’t think the group works for me, I hate being clapped at lol

SnipSnipMrBurgess · 28/12/2019 11:29

@Crunchymum snap, I've arthritis and it's hard to exercise but we need to keep moving.

I'm back to the pool tomorrow. Even walking the pool length is helpful when in a flare.

Orangesox · 28/12/2019 12:07

Yes, me. Not going to be sharing numbers right now as weighing myself is a mental hurdle I’m not in the right place to tackle.

I’m on the waiting list for spinal surgery due to a problem that has plagued me for the last 18 or so years; my life has been on hold for the last two or so years due to be almost completely incapable of participating in any exercise activities due to extreme pain. I’ve fed my low mood and I’ve got myself in a terrible rut.

I start (yet another) course of therapy the first full week in January, and I know that I’m not due to be listed for surgery until after Easter at the earliest. I want to use this time wisely to focus on looking after myself. We’re next due to see the in-laws the final week of March and I REALLY want to have achieved a visible reduction in size at that point too.

Iamallatsea · 28/12/2019 12:24

Me too no idea what I weigh but size 22 /24 at 5 ft 5 so properly huge. Can’t seem to just eat moderately either i’m stuffing my face or barely eating anything. I lost 5 stone a few years ago on SW then put it all back on and more. Tried C to 5k did it really sensibly but ended up with plantar fasciitis so could barely walk a distance for about 2 years (finally better now after special insoles, exercises etc). Have a few medical conditions that make it hard to lose weight but it’s really down to me not managing what I eat, heading for 60 so I need to get a grip on my weight.

Dowser · 28/12/2019 12:37

To be honest, I don’t move around much, certainly don’t exercise as I hate it
I’m about 11stone, maybe less and size 14-16.. I don’t get weighed either
Since going gf and df my bloated tum has gone right down, which makes me look slimmer and of course I can’t eat any crap Because that would set off my ibs

I’ve increased my magnesium uptake which has a bonus in that I no longer crave chocolate and it helps to give you more energy.
I take concentrace after every meal..helps with bm s as well
I’d like to lose a bit more between a 12-14 would be great but I’m doing it healthily.

Dowser · 28/12/2019 12:40

Team RH fitness of Fb are fabulous
Ritchie and rachel make so much sense and explain why sw or we aren’t good for you.
1200 calories is very low.
They explain how to get your calories up and still lose weight.

Dowser · 28/12/2019 12:41

Ww weight watchers

Dowser · 28/12/2019 12:45

To lose 1pound of fat you need to eat 500 cals less a day btw
Ritchie suggests using the free my fitness pal and weighing everything..including yourself every day..after the loo lol

missmouse101 · 28/12/2019 12:48

Me too. Size 22 and 5ft tall.Xmas Sad

YappityYapYap · 28/12/2019 13:02

I weigh about 13 stone and I'm 5ft 4. I'm a size 16 and the weight goes on all the wrong places (face, belly and arms) so I look like a proper fat shit and I hate it. I usually sit around 11-12 stone and I'm ok with that. Gaining 1-2 stone is horrendous for me as even though I stay in the same dress size, because of where I gain it, it looks like I've put on about 5 stone!!

I want down to 11 stone 7lbs then I will be happy so 20lbs to lose. It will make a HUGE difference as it will come off my face first then my belly and with toning, my arms too.

SnipSnipMrBurgess · 28/12/2019 13:11

@Dowser was going gluten free tough? I have psoriatic arthritis and I think it might help.

ItsNovemberNotChristmas · 28/12/2019 13:22

I was 18 stone and have now lost 10 stone, took me 2 years and a few blips but I got there in the end. Have a couple of saggy bits like upper arms and inner thighs which I'm getting sorted this year

annonymousse · 28/12/2019 13:24

Another fatty here. I joined slimming world at the end of nov and lost 1stone 4.5lb before Xmas. (This was helped by being ill in the middle and losing 6.5lb in one week). Gave myself 2 days off plan over Xmas and have put on about 4lb but back on plan now. I need to lose another 3.5 stone to get to a bmi of 30. Having to break it down so I don't overwhelm myself with how far I have to go.

GiveMeStrengthOrAHobby · 28/12/2019 13:27

I'll say it, currently just over 21 stone so more than fat.

Was 28 at my heaviest so i feel thin in comparison to that,

2020 ... the only way is down.
