Lily Allen

She's closed down her Twitter account apparently, saying the Tories won the election because of racism and mysogeny.

She's in denial, so far removed from ordinary life that she hasn't a clue how most ordinary people think. Nothing to do with racism. We had decided we wanted to leave Europe and resented being told we were stupid, uneducated, ill informed etc etc. Every attempt to get the deal approved was thwarted by a Parliament who thought they knew better than we did. And Corbyn is much too far left for most people.

Silly Lily needs to go back to what she does best - singing - and stop trying to interfere in things she doesn't understand.

How nasty.

flashbac · 14/12/2019 10:13

I'm sorry, anyone who voted Tory needs to take a long hard look in the mirror. Look at the people at the top: Boris, Priti, Gove. Psychopaths the lot of them. Shame on you.

TSSDNCOP · 14/12/2019 10:13

Is she still famous? That’s a bloody long 15 minutes.

She can come to Scotland as we stand by her.

SimonJT · 14/12/2019 10:16

Everyone is entitled to an opinion and they should be able to express it. Adults who cannot cope with someone having a different opinion are in my view quite immature.

AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet · 14/12/2019 10:17

She's a hysterical attention seeker

Singlenotsingle · 14/12/2019 10:17

Funny how the word racist is thrown around as a casual insult eh Frosty?

I just think these celebs like to try and take advantage of their privileged position by trying to influence the rest of us. I include the detestable Hugh Grant and Steve Coogan in this. And of course they're entitled to their opinion. I just don't want it rammed down my throat.

OP posts:
SimonJT · 14/12/2019 10:19

@Singlenotsingle You’re choosing to see out celebrities tweets etc, that’s the complete opposite of someone ramming something down your throat.

Booboostwo · 14/12/2019 10:19

Of course only the opinion of The People (who are not stupid you know) should be rammed down everyone else’s throat.

Chloemol · 14/12/2019 10:20

I get what you mean. But also she is entitled to an opinion, but for me it’s just the way anyone who doesn’t agree with her is wrong. She got me cross when she apologised on behalf of the uk to the Calais jungle lot for us all being so horrible in not letting them across the channel, no comprehension that in fact the jungle is Frances issues that those seeking asylum do so at the first country they come to, not pick and choose.

I think this is the case here, she has her opinion, didn’t like that fact others have a different one and are happy to challenge her

Like lots of the luvvies she feels she knows best

PineappleDanish · 14/12/2019 10:20

Really, does anyone care what Lilly Allen thinks? She's a rent a gob, always looking out for the next photo opportunity and newspaper headline to prop up her flagging career.

She's the Katie Hopkins of the Left.

ClutterbuckFarm · 14/12/2019 10:20

they're entitled to their opinion. I just don't want it rammed down my throat

Exactly this. As well as those who abuse and vilify others simply for having different (not extreme) political views.

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 14/12/2019 10:21

I just don't want it rammed down my throat.

How is a singer closing their Twitter account ramming it down your throat?

MashedSpud · 14/12/2019 10:21

She does anything in the hopes to remain relevant. Her twitter will be back in a day or two and she will cry hacking.

Dita73 · 14/12/2019 10:22

She’s an arsehole. Can’t stand her

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 14/12/2019 10:23

Nothing to do with racism. We had decided we wanted to leave Europe and resented being told we were stupid, uneducated, ill informed etc etc.

Maybe not to you but for many it was very much to do with racism. Perhaps you need to take a long hard look at how removed from "ordinary life" you are and stop making ridiculous sweeping generalisations

amaryl · 14/12/2019 10:24

Famous people have a voice and are entitled to their opinions. If you don’t like, don’t follow, switch over, switch off.
She’s right though, this election was about brexit and brexit has unearthed the racism in this country

PudOnFire · 14/12/2019 10:24

She isn’t ramming her opinion down your throat, OP. She tweeted and as far as I can see a few rags like the Mail used her tweet for a crappy ‘news’ story.

Don’t use Twitter if you can’t take other peoples opinions. Don’t read the Daily Mail if you don’t want to read lazy social media ‘journalism’.

AShaveAndAHarecutHalfPrice · 14/12/2019 10:25

Sigh.

Thank you for sharing your opinion as fact.

I feel blessed.

RedWineIsFabulous · 14/12/2019 10:27

Oh she's a leftie lovey darling...

A twat.

Can't stand her.

Gardai · 14/12/2019 10:31

What’s with all the vitriol spouted by boris supporters, not content with wining the election, youse now wish to vilify everyone who disagrees with you ? thats a wee bit fascist.

Morgan12 · 14/12/2019 10:31

Do you honestly really think racism wasn't a factor in the election result?

PhilSwagielka · 14/12/2019 10:31

I dislike Lily Allen, but if she'd said 'I love Boris, I hope he wins', would you be OK with that?

Like her or not, she lives here, she votes, and she's entitled to an opinion as much as Tory celebrities are. Yes, I mean that. I don't agree with the likes of Matt Le Tissier but that doesn't mean I don't think they're allowed to have an opinion on politics.

ItsGoingTibiaK · 14/12/2019 10:32

Yet here you are on a public forum trying to influence others and ramming your opinion down our throats?

PhilSwagielka · 14/12/2019 10:34

Statistically, most attacks on Jews have been from the far right. It's not Trots shooting up synagogues or plotting to blow them up. Not that I'm dismissing Labour's problem with anti-Semitism. I'm just more frightened of the right than the left because the right have more Jewish blood on their hands.
