Only 59. So young

OP posts:

I think it's human nature to speculate though, especially when someone dies so unexpectedly Sad

BlackCatSleeping · 27/11/2019 10:05

I was also shocked to hear this. I had no idea he moved to Dubai. I hadn’t thought about him for years.

BillieEilish · 27/11/2019 10:06

I was so shocked to just read this. It made me so, so sad.

Sallycinammonbangsthedruminthe · 27/11/2019 10:08

Dreadfully sad news.My thoughts today are with Gary's Wife and children and his family and friends.I wish them strength in the days ahead.

Waspnest · 27/11/2019 10:13

Oh that's sad. I used to love his Sticky Toffee Pudding recipe (from the back of a packet of sugar I think), made it obsessively when I was pregnant.

Dontsayyouloveme · 27/11/2019 10:21

The tweet about the fall has been deleted now.

KatherineJaneway · 27/11/2019 10:23

How sad. I was wondering about him the other day.

Lovemusic33 · 27/11/2019 10:23

Foghead he inspired me to train as a chef too, I followed many of his recipes and trained as a pastry chef. Gutted that he’s died so young.

I think he was on a episode of master chef or something similar a year or 2 ago cooking outside at his hotel in Dubai?

inwood · 27/11/2019 10:25

Wow that is sad.

I don't think he was living in Dubai, he lived near me and I used to regularly see him on the train with his family, although admittedly not for a year or so.

theemmadilemma · 27/11/2019 10:26

It appears Jamie changed his tweet, and media has also removed references to a fall (apart from Metro still quoting Jamie's original tweet).

RIP Gary.

betaboo · 27/11/2019 10:28

So sad, apparently one of his restaurants in Dubai closed down in September. I just saw some recent photos of him and he didn't look too well, although that could be because of ageing as I still visualise him with the spikey hair and youthful face on the cover of his cookbooks.

Condolences to his wife and family.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 27/11/2019 10:30

RIP

Devereux1 · 27/11/2019 10:35

Very shocked and sad to hear this. He came across as a lovely man and he was a celebrity chef without too much of the celebrity ego.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 27/11/2019 10:38

Oh, I really liked him and his recipes. How sad for his family.

And for the industry, actually.

DryHeaving · 27/11/2019 10:44

Condolences to his family
Jamie Oliver should not tweet anything, it's so disrespectful and not his business to share

KatherineJaneway · 27/11/2019 10:54

Maybe Jamie thought it was going to be public knowledge, anyway I doubt Jamie actually wrote and posted that tweet himself.

OctoberLovers · 27/11/2019 10:54

He "apparently" had a fall

He was living in Dubai

OctoberLovers · 27/11/2019 10:55

Bit you just never know with the papers these days

Patroclus · 27/11/2019 11:02

I think he was working at the place he died

Patroclus · 27/11/2019 11:05

He really was from a better era of TV chefs when they didnt have to be shouty, moody arseholes.

As the family have not released a cause of death and have asked for privacy, speculating is in very poor taste.

Such sad news.

TheFreaksShallInheritTheEarth · 27/11/2019 11:14

ManOfPeeves

Do you think you're funny, interesting or cool writing that? You're not.

Find another thread that interests you, maybe?

MistyCloud · 27/11/2019 11:18

I just read this on the bbc news website.

Very sad.

How did he die?
