I think it's human nature to speculate though, especially when someone dies so unexpectedly

I was also shocked to hear this. I had no idea he moved to Dubai. I hadn’t thought about him for years.

I was so shocked to just read this. It made me so, so sad.

Dreadfully sad news.My thoughts today are with Gary's Wife and children and his family and friends.I wish them strength in the days ahead.

Oh that's sad. I used to love his Sticky Toffee Pudding recipe (from the back of a packet of sugar I think), made it obsessively when I was pregnant.

The tweet about the fall has been deleted now.

How sad. I was wondering about him the other day.

Foghead he inspired me to train as a chef too, I followed many of his recipes and trained as a pastry chef. Gutted that he’s died so young.

I think he was on a episode of master chef or something similar a year or 2 ago cooking outside at his hotel in Dubai?

I don't think he was living in Dubai, he lived near me and I used to regularly see him on the train with his family, although admittedly not for a year or so.

It appears Jamie changed his tweet, and media has also removed references to a fall (apart from Metro still quoting Jamie's original tweet).

So sad, apparently one of his restaurants in Dubai closed down in September. I just saw some recent photos of him and he didn't look too well, although that could be because of ageing as I still visualise him with the spikey hair and youthful face on the cover of his cookbooks.

Very shocked and sad to hear this. He came across as a lovely man and he was a celebrity chef without too much of the celebrity ego.

Oh, I really liked him and his recipes. How sad for his family.

Maybe Jamie thought it was going to be public knowledge, anyway I doubt Jamie actually wrote and posted that tweet himself.

He really was from a better era of TV chefs when they didnt have to be shouty, moody arseholes.

As the family have not released a cause of death and have asked for privacy, speculating is in very poor taste.
