Yankee Candles for secret Santa

Would anyone hate to get Yankee candles as a secret Santa present?

My partner has got to get a new girl in the office early 20s a present. He knows nothing about her. Asked me for help but can give me no information about her! Thinking Yankee candles should be a safe bed but thought I'd ask MN opinion.

St Evals - autocorrect really wants to change that to St Evans...

Ohyesyoudid · 24/11/2019 10:38

Quite cleanly I'm incompetent and my link doesn't work!
Mini this works sleep set, mini Philip Kingsley hair set etc

BonnieBrooke · 24/11/2019 10:39

Nooo
Everyone has different taste in scents.
I love some of the Yankee scents but really dislike some of their scents too.
But she will be able to regift Grin

Can’t go wrong with a Lush gift set

EleanorReally · 24/11/2019 10:40

i agree with lush but very expensive

MrsFoxPlus4Again · 24/11/2019 10:44

Lush upsets my vulva.

ShowOfHands · 24/11/2019 10:45

I love candles but wouldn't buy one for somebody who hadn't confirmed they also like them. Equally, I am teetotal and not interested in make-up or similar so a bottle of something or a Boots voucher would be a waste.

I like the idea of a water bottle or similar. A secret Santa who didn't know me v well bought me the most beautiful scarf one year and I wear it all the time.

BarbaraofSeville · 24/11/2019 10:48

Lots of people hate Lush, what if she's one of them?

EleanorReally · 24/11/2019 10:51

or a Cup, you know, so you can get coffee to go while you are out and about.

stormsurfer · 24/11/2019 10:55

I like the M and S initial gifts a PP linked.

AuntyElle · 24/11/2019 10:56

MrsFoxPlus4Again: Lush upsets my vulva.

This quote should be a username, on a t-shirt and graffitied onto every Lush shop window.

LesLavandes · 24/11/2019 10:57

Jeez - calm down you lot!!!!

There is nothing wrong with the term 'new girl'. Some of you have nothing better to think about and just find fault in everything

Loopytiles · 24/11/2019 10:57

Hate!

MrsFoxPlus4Again · 24/11/2019 11:00

@AuntyElle I’d wear it 😂

AnnaMagnani · 24/11/2019 11:09

I'd hate it but I hate practically anything that comes from Secret Santa - I have no need of mugs, want my own toiletries, have allergies that mean I don't use candles etc.

It's Secret Santa, don't over think it - Yankee Candle is a nice generic gift and if she doesn't like it she can charity shop it where someone will be delighted to find it.

JoanBonJovi · 24/11/2019 11:15

love the monogram mugs

Exp1etiveDeLighted · 24/11/2019 11:19

I'd say its a reasonable generic gift, at least you can give it to a charity shop unlike prosecco, chocolates etc.

I just don't see the point. It means everyone has to spend money, with the associated stress and hassle, to end up with something that they may or may not want or need. Yes, it's a bit of fun, but few people will actually gain from the experience. If people wanted the things mentioned, eg reusable coffee cups, they would have bought one themselves by now.

In my office we have a communal lunch in the big meeting room and a quiz, and a few tubs of Quality Street type sweets go round. Plenty of fun and Christmas cheer.

ReginaGeorgeous · 24/11/2019 11:27

I'd like it, I love a scented candle as do both of my twenty something SILs.

Certainly much better than the penis shaped marshmallows I received in the office secret santa one year.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 24/11/2019 11:27

I don't like candles at all. They worry me. I'd just bin this.

MrsFoxPlus4Again · 24/11/2019 11:33

@hunterhearsthelmsley

Why bin something you could donate or regift?

MummBraTheEverLeaking · 24/11/2019 11:38

Love yankee candles here, but this whole thread has reminded me of this Grin

HunterHearstHelmsley · 24/11/2019 11:38

I worry about the safety. It's not regiftable.

20viona · 24/11/2019 11:39

I'd love it. God there's some miserable gits about.

Ohyesiam · 24/11/2019 11:45

I don’t hey on with the synthetic smells of a Y candle, but dd seems c to be more resilient to that sort of thing. So might be ok for a young woman .
She can always regift anyway.
