Who have you had excellent customer service from?

There was a thread recently about recently awful customer service that people have received, so I thought it would be nice to turn the table and share some examples of excellent customer service.

I have a mortgage with Newcastle Building Society and they have never been less than brilliant. Every time I phone up I get through to an actual person and they are always friendly and helpful and you can tell that they actually know what they are talking about rather than reading it off a screen.

Recently (without going into too much detail!) they really helped me out with an issue that would have cost me several hundred pounds. Totally went above and beyond!

John Lewis- bloody brilliant with home visits for measuring and fitting awkward curtain tracks.

Wayfair also brilliant

Exp1etiveDeLighted · 21/11/2019 23:43

Sainsburys - I went in last week to spend my Nectar double up points and ended up getting help from 4 different staff members (two on the shop floor, one at customer services, one at the self serve tills). They were all so polite and helpful.

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 21/11/2019 23:48

EE.
I'm a support worker for adults with learning disabilities and the staff at the EE shop went above and beyond for one of the people I support recently. A different network shop vodafone were patronising, rude, and ultimately refused to accept his cash. It was an awful experience, but EE more than made up for it. They were brilliant, and I did email their head office to tell them so.

John Lewis
Usually shop around but now for big ticket items go there
And No, I don't work for them

Halo1234 · 21/11/2019 23:54

Argos. Bought a buggy from them and the front wheel didnt turn properly. But being a first time mum and first time buggy owner I thought it was just because it was new and a bit stiff (just needed broken in) used buggy for few weeks and it was the same but felt I couldn't return it so tried to bare with it. Got increasingly frustrated. Called argos explained that I had used it for about 2 months maybe longer. But it had been like that from day one. Immediately said oh no you cant have that you paid lots of money for it u need it to work. Changed it for a different make and model with out question.

thr33andme · 21/11/2019 23:55

M&S. Had a fantastic experience with a faulty product last summer. The woman was incredible and couldn't do enough for us despite the fact that it wasn't a 'big deal'.

Halo1234 · 21/11/2019 23:56

Should add I felt I couldn't return it initially because I had been using it for a few weeks.

Peakypolly · 21/11/2019 23:56

I came on to say EE as well. Certainly don’t seem to be all about commission sales like many in that industry.

margotsdevil · 22/11/2019 00:00

Travelodge. Overbooked premium rooms so we ended up in a standard for the first night (first world problem I know) but moved us for rest of stay, gave us free drinks and breakfasts and refunded the cost of the first night's upgrade - all without being asked.

kennyjenny · 22/11/2019 00:01

@halo that's really good. Similar situation happened to me took it back to the shop Smyths and they just told me to contact the brand as it's gone past the 28 day warranty.

kennyjenny · 22/11/2019 00:04

I've heard so many negative stories about Vodafone but I have been with them 12 years now, every year I ring up for a better deal and they always give me one plus extras. They are always really friendly too.

WWlOOlWW · 22/11/2019 00:05

Molton Brown. Bloody brilliant!

RubySlippers77 · 22/11/2019 00:09

First Direct - so nice to talk to an actual person without 100 automated menus first! Virgin Media please take note

Our local Halfords have always been really good when the DC wanted to try out bikes too.

DramaAlpaca · 22/11/2019 00:11

I had problems with M&S sofas some years ago, the fabric started pilling within a few weeks. They were very good, sent out an assessor to look at them, agreed the fabric was faulty & replaced them without further ado.

Also Lakeland have outstanding customer service in my experience. I received a product I hadn't ordered in my delivery, not a cheap item either, about £30. Rang to let them know as obviously it was missing from someone else's order & was told to keep it.

Rumboogie · 22/11/2019 00:12

Amazon. Haven't had too many problems, but when I have they have been brilliant, including with Marketplace sellers.

anxioussue · 22/11/2019 00:13

We've had the opposite from Amazon this week and have closed our account with them.

BarbaraFromOopNorth · 22/11/2019 00:31

First Direct

toddlermom · 22/11/2019 00:44

Garden Trading and Made.com have been outstanding and gone above and beyond. Even when I was a few days after the official return date they still gave full refunds and picked up from the house. So easy to deal with!

OpalBerry · 22/11/2019 00:45

EE. When my dh died they were kind and helpful

Whatsnewpussyhat · 22/11/2019 00:49

Next have always been pretty good, although I have noticed in the past few years my need to contact them has increased, they sort their mistakes asap.

cocoabasher · 22/11/2019 00:51

Tesco - sent someone to my house to sort an exchange of a party outfit I had bought DS. It had a hole in it and I called the store out of frustration more than anything else. I had bought it at 7ish pm and planned for him to wear the outfit for photos the next morning. They sent a member of staff with a new outfit from the store which was 18 miles away. I will never every forget the kindness of that customer service manager.

Haven holidays - we had a problem with our caravan on arrival. They upgraded and moved us, gave us wine and sweeties for the kids and every year we go back they always put a small gift in our caravan for us arriving. It's been about 6 years now and they never forget.

Office - returned a pair of branded boots after wearing them for about 3 months because the stitching was coming off inside the top of the boot. They literally refunded me without question.

Thehagonthehill · 22/11/2019 00:58

First direct,I joined because there was a cash incentive but can't be tempted away.If you call someone answers quickly and deal with the problem and call you back if they've promised to.
AOL is good too and Cotswold furniture, both let you unwrap stuff to check and take rubbish away, move thing to where you want and insist on taking their shoes off if walking over carpet. Both keep you fully informed and at helpful about deliveries, important if you work and can't just leave work on a whim.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 22/11/2019 01:09

Liverpool Victoria, my car insurers. I had a bump, and there was no 17 page accident report to fill, no waiting around for an assessor, just two phone calls and repair organised, courtesy car sorted, updates every day by email.

Rosere · 22/11/2019 01:22

Argos. Really blown away by their service.

justinhawkinsnavalfluff · 22/11/2019 01:50

Ee are fab. Easiest phone purchase ever.
