Who have you had excellent customer service from?

There was a thread recently about recently awful customer service that people have received, so I thought it would be nice to turn the table and share some examples of excellent customer service.

I have a mortgage with Newcastle Building Society and they have never been less than brilliant. Every time I phone up I get through to an actual person and they are always friendly and helpful and you can tell that they actually know what they are talking about rather than reading it off a screen.

Recently (without going into too much detail!) they really helped me out with an issue that would have cost me several hundred pounds. Totally went above and beyond!

Liverpool victoria didn't register my car on the police database as insured and I got pulled over by the police. Not so much as an apology, just blamed it on the computer Angry

Amazon - every time I've ordered something that hasn't arrived on time, they've refunded me the cost of the item and let me keep it.

Fat Face - our local one is dog friendly and I took my young puppy in there once for socialisation. He chewed the rug on the floor and I was mortified but the manager was so nice and said not to worry - and gave him a free biscuit!

Another vote for Argos. I ordered some furniture recently and the woman at the till couldn't have been more helpful - it was a Saturday and it was delivered within three hours of the order. She also ordered in some items from another store when they were out of stock, and they came the next day. I generally find their staff very helpful in store.

Lakeland
Aviva. We had a leak in our kitchen, and they were very quick off the mark to get the damage assessed and cheques sent to replace the flooring
Tesco
The now defunct BHS

TBH I tend to get good customer service wherever I go. The only exception is Northern Fail Rail. Their train service is shockingly bad at the moment.

WhenYouCantRunYouCrawl · 22/11/2019 07:19

Cumberland building society for our mortgage. Named person with a direct line and email address to ask questions etc. Can book an appointment the same week to see them. Would never go back to a faceless bank after this and seriously considering moving our bank accounts over as well.

Warren Evans for mattresses recently (and beds and mattresses a few years back).
And John Lewis on several occasions (although there was one time when they took ages to sort out the problem)

HotSauceCommittee · 22/11/2019 07:21

Loaf. Husband launched himself into bed and broke some slats. When he went into the shop, they did’t need a receipt, no quibbling, they just posted us out loads of new bed slats.

HandsOffMyRights · 22/11/2019 07:23

B&M
The staff are always fantastic at my local store. It's really noticeable every time I go in and I keep meaning to let the manager know.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 22/11/2019 07:25

Just had brilliant customer service from Etsy untangling a mess due to me accidentally typing in email address wrong and then I couldn't use my correct email/account because someone already was-ME!!
She was fantastic unpicking and resolving the issue.
Well done ETSY

Admiral insurance. Someone rear ended me 10 days after giving birth to my daughter. No hassle to get everything sorted and they dealt with everything.

Figleaves. Bought expensive swimsuit to keep my boobs in 😂 and it bobbled and went a bit see through after first wash and wear. They sent a replacement out and said I could keep other one too.

Post office home and broadband were amazing when I called with a vulnerable client I work with. Couldn’t do enough and waived lots of fees they probably don’t normally. British Gas in the other hand had no sympathy whatsoever. I work in a refuge so you can imagine why these women have had to cancel their utilities!

Chottie · 22/11/2019 07:29

John Lewis and no, I do not work for them

franke · 22/11/2019 07:34

First Direct here too. I've been with them for well over 20 years. A long time ago dh was violently mugged. He had to ring around a bunch of companies to cancel credit/bank cards etc. The lady at FD was the only person he spoke to that evening who asked if he was OK. A little human concern that made all the difference. I wrote to them to say thank you.

recreationalcalpol · 22/11/2019 07:41

O2. They sold me a completely inappropriate phone contract, but when I rang to complain they sorted it out straight away and to my complete satisfaction. I was very impressed.

twinkletoedelephant · 22/11/2019 07:46

Manas and papas. When my twins were born I ordered 2 mattresses fir their cots. They only sent one.. in my post birth emotional wreck state I phoned the customer service line and just sobbed, that my babies had no where to sleep (the cots were massive I could have fitted 10 babies in each) and it's all so hard... They were very kind to me on phone, telling me I would've a fantastic mum to my boys. Next day mattresses came along with a huge box of toys Muslim squares and an outfit each

Sky internet! My router broke after a lightening strike, i phoned and they said that an engineer would have to come out and assess before a new router was issued as could be the line. I told him that i was 99% sure it was the router and why, also told him that i had 3 primary aged boys, no internet or netflix and it was half term. New router arrived the next morning 😀. Coop energy have also been very good, which is why i havent shopped around for a better deal yet.

SquishySquirmy · 22/11/2019 07:53

Flybe: flight was delayed, I followed the complaints process and got a very quick response, refund (more than the original plane tickets!) And no quibbling/delays etc. I think they had to give the compensation, but it was the speed and ease of the process that impressed me. No hassle.

EE: canceled a massive bill for some expensive calls to a foreign number (which was mainly my fault for not understanding the tarif I was on). Also when I phoned I got through to a very helpful human quickly.

First Direct: can always speak to a human quickly.

Groupon: very quick to respond and refund me fully for a minor problem with an order recently.

motorcyclenumptiness · 22/11/2019 07:56

Tesco and AO - both brilliant at sorting out problems, no being passed from pillar to post

IveGotBillsTheyreMultiplying · 22/11/2019 07:57

Local independent shops....

Hoppinggreen · 22/11/2019 07:58

LV, EE, Yorkshire Water have all been great

crazycatbaby · 22/11/2019 07:59

Vashi, got my engagement and our wedding rings from there, they recently replaced a diamond in it for free and re set another on in it that was bothering me (me being picky Grin), we dropped it off and were expecting a message regarding price and it just turned up good as new Smile

SweepTheHalls · 22/11/2019 08:01

Nintendo. Our switch developed some faults, but as its used daily by children who knows whose fault. No quibble replacement in less than a week from being sent off for repair.

thatguiltyfeeling · 22/11/2019 08:06

Not sure if this is what you mean but when I go into a shop on a Saturday for my lunch (I work Saturdays) there's usually the same woman who serves me and she's always friendly, asks how I am and how my little one is. Another person in there always used to compliment the t shirt I was wearing (usually quite weird designs or band t shirts) which made me feel ready to tackle the rest of the day for some reason.
O2 have always been brilliant with helping if I have a problem and sort it out straight away. And talktalk were brilliant when they sent us a tv box but we didn't have a tv license so had to send it back

doublebarrellednurse · 22/11/2019 08:08

Always get weirdly good service in our local Ikea !

Also Fitbit have been ace with my husbands watch!

CigarsofthePharoahs · 22/11/2019 08:09

For actual face to face good service - John Lewis and Lakeland have always been excellent.
But I'll never forget the more than one occasion in Sainsbury's when my youngest child, then a tiny baby, had had enough and was screaming constantly. I didn't have to ask for help, a member of staff unpacked, scanned and packed all my bags so I could cuddle ds2. Saved my sanity.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 22/11/2019 08:11

Oh and Sainsbury's delivery - got my Christmas delivery, turkey missing. Driver checked the receipt then immediately phoned the depot. They found the turkey and someone else brought it round later in the day. No fuss, no messing about. Just admitted the mistake, apologized and fixed it.
Was a lovely turkey too.
