There was a thread recently about recently awful customer service that people have received, so I thought it would be nice to turn the table and share some examples of excellent customer service.

I have a mortgage with Newcastle Building Society and they have never been less than brilliant. Every time I phone up I get through to an actual person and they are always friendly and helpful and you can tell that they actually know what they are talking about rather than reading it off a screen.

Recently (without going into too much detail!) they really helped me out with an issue that would have cost me several hundred pounds. Totally went above and beyond!

Oops pressed post to soon. All the staff are lovely that should say. When my DS was younger and in a buggy, they'd always bring my tray over for me so I could push the buggy to the table. It doesn't sound much but just that recognition of someone else's situation and helping with it - it just makes you feel better.

It's made me a bit emotional this thread Blush and I think especially when the customer themselves is vulnerable or dealing with something when someone's passed away etc, the companies who give good service under those circumstances make all the difference IMHO. Person to person.

Lots of small independent shops locally to me, and the Post Office in a nearby town (not the main one, a sub).

Genuinely lovely people and great customer service. It's what it takes with a small business. And word of mouth is still the best advertising!
