Here is another thread to discuss the PA interview and its repercussions.

I think the queen needs to shoulder some of the blame for this situation. She doesn't seem to have any control ... I think she's as entitled and arrogant as the rest of them

Just to repeat a link I posted on another thread, when saying that the attitude comes right from the top:

www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/queen-tried-to-use-state-poverty-fund-to-heat-buckingham-palace-2088179.html

I also agree some "health problem" will be used to avoid Andrew being questioned, but on the subject of the victim's upcoming broadcast I'll say what I've said before ... let's hope she has decent security

spacepyramid · 21/11/2019 13:19

He'll turn up on I'm a celebrity in a few years, that or Fergie will.

SerendipityJane · 21/11/2019 13:22

A PA sex tape?

Cynics might suggest that the timing is interesting given how "deepfakes" are an accepted danger for people in the public eye now.

Same era as you rousette
I never thought you’d hear me say abolish the monarchy..but over my almost seven decades we’ve seen nothing but scandal and bad behaviour from a family who should’ve been above reproach.

When did the rot begin to set in.
I don’t know..I might have got my chronology wrong..but I remember being astounded at
It’s a royal knock out...just what where they thinking?
Fergie almost racing up the aisle on a wedding day..practically giving the thumbs up sign as if to say...look at me...look at me now!
Then it just unravelled completely
Squidgygate
Charles The tampax king
And all the fallout that followed and the disastrous consequences
But if I’m honest there were indications before that.
My cousin was a political reporter on fleet st and he would go to a lot of parties involving all the big wigs and he often used to tell tales of Princess Margaret and her latest paramours. There were rumours of her and a certain pink panther. I remember being a bit.. no way.. at the time.
Weren’t these the people we were meant to look up to and since then as the fake facade has fallen away..we see that apart from their privilege of birth they are just the same as us with the same skeletons in the cupboard

I honestly can’t see how this archaic institution can survive.
They can no longer be held over us and no longer should we be expected to bow and scrape.

Maybe if we were all living in the lap of luxury, we’d be quite happy to have them wheeled out as a relic of a time gone by..a bit like the museum at Beamish..or the cobbled street in the york museum but after the years we’ve had of austerity, people dying in corridors in our hospitals as these no beds,
people being passed as fit for work and dying just weeks or months after their asses ent
The food banks, the people living on the streets
Parents who hardly see each other because they are working all the hours god sends to keep a roof over their children’s heads and food on the table
Mothers who actually want to stay at home and look after her children but don’t have that choice
People on good salaries but never able to see themselves getting on the
Property ladder..and everyone just two pay checks away from destitution

Has made the scales drop from our eyes. We want better value for our hard earned tax money ...and they just aren’t fit for purpose.

They have been judged and found wanting and the queen can do as much fire fighting as she likes..the public have spoken.

Roussette · 21/11/2019 14:20

Yes Dowser! And that was PA and Fergie who engineered that awful show.
And Fergie on her wedding day trying to whoop the crowds up to shout 'kiss her'. Yuk.

I've always been fairly ambivalent about the Royal Family, I put it down to my age, at times I've stuck up for them, but they just aren't discreet anymore. They do just want they want and expect no retribution, illustrated by PA insisting to his advisers that he would go to NY to see his friend Epstein. (who on Saturday night interview became not much of a friend). All this treats the public like they're stupid.

LittleSweet · 21/11/2019 14:44

The problem I have is the heir to the throne is trained from birth. Their whole life is training. If we had a president we could end up with anyone. Look at Trump, Nixon, Thatcher or Boris. That's what we could get. I think the Queen has done a good job. But as far as Charles and William go, I just can't support people who have cheated on their partner.
But Prince Andrew is exactly what is wrong with being brought up privileged, with money and thinking you are better than others. I think he should be formally questioned by the police,FBI and French police. The easiest way for him to prove his innocence is to release the documents relating to his protection officers. There will be records. The fact that he hasn't is very telling. He disgusts me.

Dard · 21/11/2019 14:44

It's very strange that William's affair has been covered up in this country but reported widely elsewhere? That is apparently the reason for the falling out with Harry,it couldn't come out or that truly would be the end for the Monarchy

DianaT1969 · 21/11/2019 14:55

So many strange things coming to light in the past weeks.

We're not that surprised at Andrew hanging out with Epstein in his private plane, on a private island or on luxury holidays, but who brings a paedophile to his own daughter's 18th birthday party?? Full of young, unaccompanied girls. By that point PA would surely have been aware of Epstein's character.

  • It was reported in one of the papers this week that Prince Charles considered Jimmy Saville to be one of his closest friends. He was also close friends with convicted clergy paedophile, Ball. The Prince continued to support Ball after his conviction by giving a home on his estate. Charles was also very close to Lord Mountbatten, who was implicated in abuse cases of Kincora Boys Home, Belfast. Mountbatten had a 15 year old boy working for him on his boat the day it was blown up. A single Prince, heir to the throne, with access to the UK's finest minds and the "best" of society and he ends up with 3 close friends who are convicted, or accused of paedophilia? What are the chances? They are just the friends/acquaintances we know of.

Did other people know this about Charles? I was clueless til this week.

ajandjjmum · 21/11/2019 14:56

Is there any proof that William has had an affair, or is it just gossip? He and Kate always seem very together, and unless they're both excellent actors, I can't believe it.

Half the problem for the Monarchy is that so many people believe that rubbish that is churned out day in day out by the tabloids, and when something is actually right, that is all the 'proof' they need to say the gossips were right about everything.

IMO

SerendipityJane · 21/11/2019 14:56

Our Queen wasn't ....

SerendipityJane · 21/11/2019 14:59

But it's already been clearly established in 2019 that the Queen has no power. Not a sausage. Nada. She can't say boo to a Boris. So any whole-life (see previous note) "training" she may have had is ultimately just how to say "how high" in a posh voice. I don't know. Maybe she does accents too ?

QueenOfTheAndals · 21/11/2019 15:00

No but she was 10 when her father became king and was pretty much trained from then.

ajandjjmum · 21/11/2019 15:06

Her insight and wisdom has been praised by various PM's of different colours - so although she can't 'rule', she can certainly share her thoughts and experience.

I think she is far more than her voice. Although apparently she is pretty good at mimicry - presumably including accents Serendipity! Grin

Roussette · 21/11/2019 15:08

Exactly. I pointed out on the previous PA thread about Epstein's house in NY. It had a human female form chessboard customised to look like his staff with suggestive clothing on, life like nude female hanging from the chandelier, thousands (not hundreds) of nude paintings often of young females, a pair of silicone tits to play with in the bathroom and so on.

If I went to someone's house for a party and saw that lot, I would judge, I would label them as a sex pervert. However PA saw nothing odd at this house. On the previous thread, someone kept pressing the point that all this could've been removed for PA's visit. Yeah, like a thousand paintings would be taken down. Hardly likely.

I am thinking more that there is footage and evidence of all of this that affects PA. That is being reported in many places. Hence his abrupt stepping down.

Trentadoodoo · 21/11/2019 15:09

The media must have known of all his antics before now.

So why is the Daily Mail ripping PA apart so ferociously now? What has changed? They really are ripping him apart. Which is strange as the DM is also very pro Brexit and anti Corbyn and I would have thought that this scandal would make people feel less happy with the establishment, royal family so more likely to vote for 'change' and for JC?

SerendipityJane · 21/11/2019 15:11

Her insight and wisdom has been praised by various PM's of different colours - so although she can't 'rule', she can certainly share her thoughts and experience.

So could I. Or my DM. Or any number of amazing people. When's their turn ?

ajandjjmum · 21/11/2019 15:15

But with all due respect, neither you nor your mother have a lifetime of experience in dealing with international leaders and dignitaries - down to fate - but that's still the fact of the matter.

You won't get a turn - no-one said life was fair.

SerendipityJane · 21/11/2019 15:19

But with all due respect, neither you nor your mother have a lifetime of experience in dealing with international leaders and dignitaries - down to fate - but that's still the fact of the matter.

You chose to drop the "and any number of amazing people" bit, I see.

You won't get a turn - no-one said life was fair.

So is that justification for keeping it not fair, or an exhortation that we should seek to make it fair ? I couldn't quite tell as my sense of smell is fucked at the moment due to a cold ....

Dard · 21/11/2019 15:20

The British press have been legally silenced re William,so instead used term"rural rival"
Look it up in foreign papers and Twitter post saying it was common knowledge by a man called Giles

When it comes to House of Windsor v.s Brexit there can only be one winner. That's already been decided.

Sorry Liz.

User0987613 · 21/11/2019 15:28

A PA sex tape? Dear God, it’s lunch time

He flat out denied a clear colour photograph that showed him with Virginia. Whatever quality of surveillance film was available back then (VHS and probably filmed at an odd angle) is obviously going to be dismissed as fake.

I was also baffled about the DM backlash. They were ferocious with PA lately (Meghan must be dancing around in happiness). The obviously spent loads of resources uncovering exclusive stories.

Could it just be to sell papers? Or is there a bigger story with PA they still aren't allowed to publish and they're deliberately cranking up the heat. Similar to the William/Kate/Rose Hanbury one which was totally bizarre to be given homepage headline space, but made loads more sense if people know the open secret.

BertrandRussell · 21/11/2019 15:32

“ Her insight and wisdom has been praised by various PM's of different colours ”
They’re not going to say she only talks about corgis and bloodlines, are they?

BertrandRussell · 21/11/2019 15:36

To be fair (if I must) to Charles, it was much more likely that he was groomed by Mountbatten than joined him in any grooming- he was a father figure to him. Ditto Laurens van de Post. Looking for older men he wasn’t a disappointment to......

Trentadoodoo · 21/11/2019 15:40

I didn't think the daily Mail would be that interested in a sleazy bloke exploiting women. After all, there are plenty of those.

Dm is so pro Brexit and Tory / Nigel etc. You do have to ask yourself, what all this focus on PA is achieving. One thing it is achieving is to destabilise the country a tiny bit more. People believe a little less in the Monarchy after that fatal BBC interview. Elections are coming up, deal, no deal, economic downturn that is associated with no deal, peace in northern Island may be jeopardised, possible Scottish independence and break up of the union, all that is relevant right now- yet the DM focuses on PA.

Will the pubic just get sick of it all in the absence of any hard evidence? E.g. spend all its emotional energy on these allegations but when something is ascertained, people won't be as interested? Or is this about showing the RF (and politicians) how powerful the mass media still is?

I do find it very concerning that Prince Charles was so close to JS. I mean, how on Earth? Weird! I wonder what Duchess of Cambridge is thinking now and how all these scandals will affect her George in the future.

SunsetBoulevard3 · 21/11/2019 15:40

I have an in law who was a very influential literary agent in London during the fifties onwards. She says she knows for a fact that PP was having affairs with various people. She knew all the Great and the Good at the time. The RF have always been behaving disgracefully.
