Here is another thread to discuss the PA interview and its repercussions.

The Queen decided not to go to Aberfan in immediate aftermath because - rightly or wrongly - she felt that her presence there would detract from the rescue effort.

which is fair enough ... the Queens presence by definition is a drain on resources wherever she goes. Although with recent revelations, I do find myself wondering it that's really what she felt, or what the PM of the day advised her ?

SerendipityJane · 24/11/2019 17:15

However much they could do it doesn't solve all the underlying issues of homelessness.

Oh, right. So let's not bother then.

annielouise · 24/11/2019 17:36

I've never understood why anyone thinks the queen is so good at what she does. I don't think anything she's done couldn't have been done by anyone else. She seems to take the path of least resistance. She's turned a blind eye to andrew and sarah - mixing with paedophiles, oligarchs etc, and all their dodgy deals, didn't act with any seeming intelligence when Diana died - she could have calmed the nation earlier than she did with a statement and lowering the flag and didn't need to parade william and harry to the public (basically she thought nothing of selling them down the river to save her precious institution). She turns a blind eye to all the others using their name and position to make money - Zara, Peter Philips and the £750k he got paid for hosting a party for her, sarah's money-making schemes, trading off the family name, andrew skimming of the cream in deals etc, as if they don't all have enough money.

These people have had the best jobs handed on a plate to them - ambassador of this, that and the other when they are often less than capable than other people - harry and his job as the president of the commonwealth of whatever he was given. They have medals and titles, and estates and prestigious positions just handed over, the queen really knows how to look after her own. I laughed at andrew's statement and the KG after his name. They just don't get it. I couldn't care less about the honorific HRH, it's an absolute load of baloney, proved by it being handed to anyone marrying in who doesn't have this said mystical elixir of "blue blood".

Frankly I think royalty is a big a con as religion, aimed to keep the plebs in line.

I think what I find a nonsense is that other people write their speeches for them. So they just appear like manneqins in their over priced clothes or ancient regalia to deliver the words. The Queen's speeches in Parliament, PC's words when he was made Prince of Wales (at least the initial part if the Crown is correct) . Is the Xmas speech also written for her I wonder? They just recite the words in their ridiculous accents and go back to living in their Palaces.

I thought PC with his shepherd's crook and his toy town village recently was a bit ridiculous. It's like he is playing out some sort of Pastoral idyll fantasy life.
However, I do think PA and Sophie and to some extent William and Kate do a lot for charity. Also PH with the Invicitus Games and perhaps his initiatives in Africa. PC has done a lot with the Princes Trust, so it isn't all bad.

ajandjjmum · 24/11/2019 17:49

I think if nothing else, those first few episodes of this new series of The Crown shows that there have been a number of HUGE issues that the Queen has had to deal with throughout her reign.

SerendipityJane · 24/11/2019 17:52

All very Victorian, if not Marie Antoinette ....

That said, PC did learn Welsh. Maybe he should give more speeches in it, just to shut that fucker Farage up about people speaking foreign ....

ginyogarepeat · 24/11/2019 17:56

@annielouise 👏 👏

BertrandRussell · 24/11/2019 18:01

“ . Is the Xmas speech also written for her I wonder? They just recite the words in their ridiculous accents and go back to living in their Palaces. ”

Yes of course it is. I have to take issue with “ridiculous accents” though. On behalf of a friend......

AppleJane · 24/11/2019 18:08

Maybe the interview was a success if all everyone is pondering is did or did not PA sleep with a 17 year old girl.

He's lucky JE didn't ask him to be a business partner in his venture and a useful carrot to lure in the super rich and powerful. Then he'd look like a drug dealer who tasted his own wares!

AnyMinuteNow · 24/11/2019 18:13

Pretty shitty response there and totally unnecessary serendipity wtf is the point of saying that exactly?

I didn't even say what you've said. I never said that at all. Read it again before making unnecessarily angry shitty comment.

I said However much they could do...

How is that worth attacking with a haughty response of oh right, so lets not bother then

What an attitude Hmm. You just being shitty for shitty sake?

HerBigChance · 24/11/2019 18:20

As head of the family, she could have taken the heat off William, Harry and even Charles earlier by making a statement on behalf of the whole family and saying straight away that the boys were grieving in private, with their father supporting them, and that the media should leave them alone.

I agree. She was right to keep the boys at Balmoral but she should have made a statement. They were effectively wheeled out to be the pubic face of everyone else's grief amid the flowers at Kensington Gardens. Completely wrong, as was the funeral walk.

BelleHathor · 24/11/2019 18:39

I have followed this Epstein case for years. 🤞🤞 that the victims will finally get justice. Can't shake the feeling that the PA interview was some kind of "controlled disclosure" to slowly prepare the public for further darker disclosures to come. Rumour has it that one of Epsteins recruiters flipped to the FBI who have the videos and pictures. Attorney General Barr has also been in the UK meeting with security services a lot.🤔

Inkanta · 24/11/2019 19:11

annielousie

Well said!

Frankly I think royalty is a big a con as religion, aimed to keep the plebs in line.

And yes to that.

Inkanta · 24/11/2019 19:23

The Queen is only lauded because she never says or does anything.

A lot of truth in that.

Dowser · 24/11/2019 20:29

Belle Hathor
I’ve had a full on day today so haven’t had time to think or comment but I’m not setting too much store b the FBI

Well done you though for researching this topic.

My thoughts are it depends how far rooted this abuse of children goes.
Many people have quoted Savile and the royal connection.
At the time , there were a lot of people hoping big heads would roll..there were a few people chucked u Dee a bus but that in the main didn’t really happen..despite a lot of speculation.
Remember the Lord McA fiasco.
How it heralded almost the end of the investigations
There’s so much that didn’t come out about JS. Many things were hinted at but the real meat was kept hidden.

If ever there was a time . It was then. So why didn’t it?
It was suggested that
This went to the very top of the tree...think of some big names, add in a few more and you’ve pretty much got why this red hot informs was suppressed.
I think PA is going to be used as a bargaining chip. Well give you PA, retire him and that’s where it stops in the RF, the lords, judiciary and so forth.
Yes, I’m speculating but if anyone starts sniffing too close to the truth
They are going to be headed off at the pass.
Things I’d like to know is
Who protected savile
What dirt did he have on the big wigs
It’s got to be global..why else is he visiting the pope
Who was a regular frequenter at Saviles Glen Coe hideaway
Who else was involved
Who else was involved in the occult group
That was savile..I think JE took his crown
I think this has a long reach
I’m not holding my breath that we will ever get the full truth of who is really running this world

JS was not the lone wolf he would have us believe ..he was not working in isolation

He was a cog, admittedly a big cog, in the wheel

Just look at some of these photos

I can't imagine Andrew is too upset at being retired.
He's got all the time and money in the world to suit himself now, to golf, ride, shoot, holiday......

Some punishment.

noodlenosefraggle · 24/11/2019 20:30

The Charles/William damage limitation has already started, with all the 'Charles is furious' 'William never liked his uncle' shtick. Their only purpose is the preservation of the monarchy, at all costs. I wouldn't be surprised if the 'Sussex problem' stems from them confused as whipping boys for similarvreason, and Meghan not only not standing it but pointing out to Harry that he shouldn't put up with it either. There have long been rumours that stories of Harry's antics are offered up to the press to protect William. Now they are chucking Beatrice under the bus.

noodlenosefraggle · 24/11/2019 20:31

Not confused. Being used!

CathyorClaire · 24/11/2019 20:35

Why aren't any of the other big wigs being hounded like he is?

I think it's schadenfreude at the downfall of a man whose arrogance and entitlement has grated for years (£5K bill to the taxpayer for a helicopter hop to play golf, anyone?) and the fact he so clearly thinks it's the little people's privilege and duty to fund whatever excesses he deems his birthright. 24/7 security for the 'blood princesses' comes springing nimbly to mind as just one example.

hoteltango · 24/11/2019 20:52

ssd - I think he'll be upset by the reduction of his HRHness - the toadying and bowing, and so on.

The Mail has reported that his royal standard has been removed from the top of Royal Lodge at Windsor, along with the flagpole. That'll hurt him!

I didn't know this, but apparently all four of the Queen's children have their own royal standard, to be flown when they're in residence at their respective homes. Can't imagine Anne doing that; Andrew, on the other hand, would definitely want to proclaim his royalness for all to see.

Stroller15 · 24/11/2019 20:53

I agree with PA being used as a bargaining chip, it does come across like that. It is probably because he isn't very smart or likeable. It does also feel like the media is sitting on something and drip feeding. I just hope the truth comes out.

Bluerussian · 24/11/2019 20:55

"The Charles/William damage limitation has already started, with all the 'Charles is furious' 'William never liked his uncle' shtick."

Rubbish. I've no doubt Charles is concerned and cross with his brother but William has always got on well with his uncle - all uncles, aunts and cousins.

ssd · 24/11/2019 21:12

Bluerussian, how can you possibly know how well William gets on with anyone? If you know them personally, fair enough, but if you are just a pleb like the rest of us and get your insider knowledge from the dm or the Internet, just shut up, you don't know eff all, same as anyone else.

bigdecisonsahead · 24/11/2019 21:32

Not strictly PA related and not sure if there’s another thread already but has anyone else seen the rumour that PP has died?
