Here is another thread to discuss the PA interview and its repercussions.

Excellent writing by Helen Lewis. Thank you for the link.

Kissedafrog · 24/11/2019 07:34

The article is by Helen Lewis is good but I disagree that PA was too naive to really see what was going on.

The queen has cancelled PA's 60th birthday party. His birthday is in February.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 24/11/2019 07:45

Oh wow! She’s cancelled his birthday party! He really is on the naughty step.

What I am appalled at is the reports this morning that his equally dreadful daughters, who he has been trying to persuade the queen for them to become working royals may be taking over his patronage's.

I just so hope this report is incorrect. I support the monarchy but I just wish the dreadful York side could fade away into oblivion and the rest of it such as Harry plus cousins just let go into the background. The continental royal model seems better with just the core family undertaking royal duties.

I really admire Princess Anne and how she brought up her kids and without tittles.

BertrandRussell · 24/11/2019 07:49

“ I really admire Princess Anne and how she brought up her kids and without tittles.”
Yes. So much more admirable to get consultancies paying megabucks without actually having a title......

Moomin8 · 24/11/2019 07:50

PA cannot help being born into the royal family and is he not supposed to socialise at events such as these and instead attend the darts match down the local pub

Goodness me. Poor P Andrew. Won't somebody think of the privileged(!)

I think the article hits the nail on the head completely. Countless young women / underage girls have been abused by his so called friend. Whom he apparently doesn't regret being friends with because of the connections it afforded him!! How bloody pompous, crass and non empathetic can one tithead person be?

Kissedafrog · 24/11/2019 08:02

What I am appalled at is the reports this morning that his equally dreadful daughters, who he has been trying to persuade the queen for them to become working royals may be taking over his patronage's.

WTF
That would make the whole thing even worse wouldn't it. What a opportunist family with no shame abusing their privileges. I would be utterly disgusted at this and hope that PC will refuse this opportunist and shameless idea.

JemimaTab · 24/11/2019 08:04

I would if there could ever be such a thing as an official public inquiry into the RF’s finances (including all the kickbacks and freebies that they seem to benefit from) and whether they provide value for money. That would make for very interesting reading.

WineOrGinOrBoth · 24/11/2019 08:06

What have the York women done to make them as equally dreadful as their dad? Did they knowingly mix with a convicted sex offender? It’s not their fault who their parents are.

MarieG10 · 24/11/2019 08:07

@BertrandRussell ...

But they are not a cost on the tax payer. They are private people, albeit high profile but they don't take any money from us so I'm happy for them to get on with it

BertrandRussell · 24/11/2019 08:09

Where do you think Anne gets her money from?

Dowser · 24/11/2019 08:11

I hope palace advisers are reading this thread.
We must be representative of the mood of the public
Because we are the public.

Moomin8 · 24/11/2019 08:12

@MarieG10 how can you be that naive?

Dowser · 24/11/2019 08:13

Jemima
Was thinking the same myself re their money.

Kissedafrog · 24/11/2019 08:15

What have the York sisters done?

Who knows?

At the very least Beatrice convinced her dad to give a dishonest interview and supported him in his white washing attempt so she is just as bad as him.

Wouldn't it be a lovely reward for PA if his daughter was given new and amazing opportunities on the back of his sleazy and dishonest behaviour?

That is what is so wrong with the hereditary privilege the RF enjoys.

After all, PA stepping back at 60 is not that bad for him, it's a good age to retire. He always wanted more limelight for his daughters. What a message would it send to give Beatrice a bigger royal role and more limelight as a direct result of PA's disgraceful behaviour.

Roussette · 24/11/2019 08:24

In the past I have given Beatrice and Eugenie the benefit of the doubt... they can't help what family they were born into etc, and my DDs are similar ages so I've had a smidgeon of sympathy for them.

However, if Beatrice went along with this charade she is more deluded than I first thought. My DDs have far more sense than her, but I suppose that's because they're not Princesses and haven't lived in a privileged world.

But I know they would be cautioning me against speaking out for my own ends and I know without fail their sympathy would be for the victims and not me because they're empathic human beings who care about others. Unlike B & E it seems. This has reflected badly on them too. Give me Meghan Markle any day.

BertrandRussell · 24/11/2019 08:36

Eugenie’s main public focus is modern slavery, ffs!

JemimaTab · 24/11/2019 08:44

Beatrice and Eugenie supposedly have real jobs, albeit these appear to be jobs that do not make heavy demands on their time, and allow for a LOT of holiday time. But even so I do not think they need to have their snouts in any of PA’s old troughs. They are also quite a long way down the succession. IMO a clean break from the Yorks would be better for the RF (who I think are really in the shit right now) than trying to shoehorn them into meaningless royal roles.

Dongdingdong · 24/11/2019 08:47

Excellent writing by Helen Lewis. Thank you for the link.

The Helen Lewis article that concludes Andrew “was too stupid, or too incurious, to comprehend the evil going on around him”?

Come off it.

ncncncncncncncnc · 24/11/2019 08:53

There's been report his former agent, Bea and Fergie all pushed him into this but none that PA himself wanted to do it. Can't accept any responsibility can he? He hardly looked bothered in the interview. Fergie's Instagram afterwards was disgusting

JemimaTab · 24/11/2019 08:57

He’s incredibly thick. He obviously thought the interview was a PR triumph. But yes I’m sure it was entirely his decision to do it.

BertrandRussell · 24/11/2019 08:58

Weird that Ferguson has left that Insta message up.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 24/11/2019 09:02

Béatrice wanting «the whole thing to go away» before her wedding shows how out of touch and dumb she is too.
I was neutral about the York girls. I like Eugenie. But the whole York branch needs to be put out to pasture.
I think when Charles comes back from New Zealand the shit is going to hit the fan.

ncncncncncncncnc · 24/11/2019 09:19

Don't believe those rumours about the girls are true. In any event it'd be Charles call and if he's going to slim down the monarchy this is the chance to do it

StartupRepair · 24/11/2019 09:23

In a post Queen world, Charles is not going to be giving Andrew or his family any handouts.
