A continuation of the discussion regarding the MOD news and ethics surrounding Instagram “influencers”.

I usually have R4 on but must have been out. Might check it out.

It’s about time this stuff was filed under consumer rather than where it all started some airy mc ‘mama’ stuff with the dc (who sometimes aren’t allowed screens themselves, the irony)

myolivetree · 18/11/2019 19:42

Oh You and Yours! Sorry x

bloggalicious · 18/11/2019 20:15

It’s so funny that those on Tattle are saying truly horrendous, spiteful comments about Instagrammers yet they are stunned, horrified, taken aback and betrayedthat this woman has behaved exactly the same as they do with absolutely no insight into their own hypocrisy 😅😅😅😅😅. Unpopular opinion I know, I’ll show myself out 😀^^**

Horriblemysteries · 18/11/2019 20:23

Have you read Tattle bloggalicious? I think they find it quite funny over there that MOD has joined in with the gossip, not "stunned and horrified". The hypocrisy she has highlighted is the myth of bloggers being women supporting women, lifting each other up and being ever kind to each other when the reality is the complete opposite.

hopeishere · 18/11/2019 20:26

What amuse me is the advice influencers give to "scroll on by" yet they can't just scroll on by from tattle - instead it needs shut down!!

Horriblemysteries · 18/11/2019 20:28

Yes, why can't they curate their reading material like their favourite magazine by just.....not looking at it?

bloggalicious · 18/11/2019 20:59

Honestly I went to Tattle once and not on Insta so I don’t know who any of them are 😀. As my kids would say , “I’m not involved”. Anyway, I am glad they can laugh about it!

Horriblemysteries · 18/11/2019 21:08

How do you know if those on tattle are saying truly horrendous, spiteful comments if you have only been on there once and don't know who any of them are? That's how nonsense petitions get started Grin But at least you aren't "involved"

bloggalicious · 18/11/2019 21:18

I am not her! I followed a link from here to Tattle Life and browsed a little. At the time (about ten days ago) they were all “How very dare she!!!!!😮😮”. 😅😅😂 Still makes me laugh now.

CantstandmLMs · 18/11/2019 21:31

FOD's stories were cringe before but god theyre so extra cringe now!!

Horriblemysteries · 18/11/2019 21:36

I didn’t think you were her, lol. With a name like bloggalicious just sounds a bit implausible that you aren’t on insta and don’t know who any of them are and yet with a skim read of the site from one link you’ve decided the whole of tattle is full of spite and horrendous comments and have now come here to have a giggle about what people were saying ten days ago 😳

AppleHEAD · 18/11/2019 22:02

You and Yours was brilliant. They really hit the nail on the head. Well worth a listen.

bloggalicious · 19/11/2019 07:00

Horrible I meant no disrespect to Tattle Life😀. It was my first visit and some of the comments were a little strong! My post was and is lighthearted I see people are quite invested in this so I’ll just back away slowly before the handbags start flying 😀

Doubleraspberry · 19/11/2019 07:33

I’m not sure invested is the right word. They just felt your post was inaccurate!

Horriblemysteries · 19/11/2019 07:34

My feelings are mixed towards tattle life, I'm not defending it, some of the comments on there are indeed spiteful but the vast majority are not and there is a lot of good discussion on there. I see "invested" is the insult du jour of anyone wanting to have a sly dig at people who want to discuss this topic.

canyon2000 · 19/11/2019 08:41

I just listened to the You & Yours programme and thought it was very interesting. One of the ladies on their has written an interesting post on why she is no longer working with influencers.

Itsashame · 19/11/2019 08:59

I wonder if anything will change on the landscape of influencers after this. It seems to have hit all the mainstream news but even so I’ll be surprised if anything changes.

HowlsMovingBungalow · 19/11/2019 09:12

The royal interview is dominating the news and rightly so, seems the big insta dramahuns news has quietened down. Is the Radio 4 segment worth a listen?

Horriblemysteries · 19/11/2019 09:16

I listened to it and it was very good. Just one minor gripe, when she said legislation changed earlier in the year about disclosing ads. The legislation didn’t change, it was always there, everyone just ignored it!

myolivetree · 19/11/2019 09:21

Just read the article by the PR person that was on the program that @canyon2000 has linked to.

Very interesting! And no surprises as to her opinion on the big star bloggers!

Horriblemysteries · 19/11/2019 09:40

Oh that article! The last line 🙈🤣

BanKittenHeels · 19/11/2019 09:55

Loads of influencers were called out by name by the ASA this year

www.thedrum.com/news/2019/01/23/zoella-alexa-chung-and-other-influencers-pledge-make-social-media-ads-clearer

I think the people who were mentioned by name listened up but it seems almost as though the others won’t listen until they are called out and threatened too.

Ok, can someone please post a link to the you and yours episode? I’ve searched and I can’t find it. Sorry....
