What’s the FIRST thing you would buy if you won the lottery

Feel free to be as shallow as possible. Forbidden choices include: paying off your mortgage, going on holiday or charitable donations. You know, all the stuff we’d all actually do with a lottery win Grin

Mine would be to buy a really bloody nice handbag (never had one).

(Then of course I’d move on to the boring but important stuff).

A Brooklyn brownstone (with a lift if it has more than four floors).

Patapouf · 03/11/2019 21:20

Probably DHs dream car, which is only a Merc saloon so not that frivolous really.

I'd buy myself a fancy watch and a new handbag so that I wouldn't feel out of place when I arrived at the posh holiday that would definitely be booked.

GetRid · 03/11/2019 21:28

Very first thing I'd buy would be a takeaway curry.

Second thing would be online shopping of tonnes of Xmas pressies and clothes for the children and me.

Then the following morning I'd drive to the nearest Volvo showroom and buy an XC90.

Temeraire · 03/11/2019 21:35

Yes I was also unimpressed by Wedgwood’s standard of SPAG. I’d have been prepared to go up to £610 of my imaginary lottery money if they shelled out for proof-reading.

Asschercut · 03/11/2019 21:41

Oh so much!

First, a new Volvo, the one with the glass Orrefors gear stick and matching champagne glasses. Like a modern Cinderella.

Then a bespoke ring from Alice Cicolini, the enamel work is so beautiful, here's one:

www.alicecicolini.com/jewellery/jaipur-bougainvillea-ring-in-green-tourmaline

I would get staff, every day for a week, PT, nanny, massage/beauty therapist, stylist, wardrobe clearance, tailor, private banker, chef & daily cleaner.

After a week of pampering I'd start some new investments and probably a couple of businesses. Fun!

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 03/11/2019 22:23

I’d head for the nearest department store (and park in their expensive car park instead of the park & ride).

I’d start with perfume & make up, work my way through candles and home accessories then head for kitchen gadgets to pick up a new magimix and a bean to cup coffee machine.

I might also squeeze in a visit to bedding & curtains. Especially if DH was with me as I’d have plenty of time while he considers which a TV to buy.

I don’t actually do the lottery Grin

Chugchugtraintrain · 03/11/2019 22:26

I would get the car valeted, it's filthy. A takeaway dinner. Then a warm and waterproof coat for winter and some decent walking boots.

feelinghelplesstoday · 04/11/2019 01:42

@AcrossthePond55 I have a house that speaks to me too. Walk past it every day walking the dog. It's not perfect but it's perfect for me.

managedmis · 04/11/2019 01:48

Plane tickets for the family to come over probably

managedmis · 04/11/2019 01:50

Only four of those wedge wood bloody advent calendars left!

Shock
ChristaMSieland · 04/11/2019 02:09

Chanel No5 Parfum Grand Extrait The 900ml size for £4,000. That should last a while.

Oliversmumsarmy · 04/11/2019 02:14

Depends on the size of the win what I would ultimately do but I think a plane ticket out of the UK would be high on my list.

OMGshefoundmeout · 04/11/2019 02:28

A few years ago a very long term investment paid off and we got £1m. Not quite the lottery but pretty good. DH got a new pillow and I got some expensive diamond studs. We were both very satisfied with our new belongings.

SD1978 · 04/11/2019 02:52

Glitter. To do this. Because I will be also resigning from my job as front line nursing staff in A&E- but one night a triage doing this......

SD1978 · 04/11/2019 02:53

Picture didn't post. Glitter to do this. Because I work in A&E and would be handing in my resignation anyway.

I’d go to the fanciest restaurant in town and order anything we fancied to discuss what to do next. Then off to order DH a Tesla (sadly I can’t drive due to having epilepsy 😢🤦‍♀️) but we’d also order a top of the range Qashqai as we love ours but it’s a bit elderly. Last stop would be the Apple store to just go mad buying mac books, phones, Apple watches, iPads. And that would be for 5 of us so imagine the bill!!

SuperMeerkat · 04/11/2019 07:52

@SD1978 I think a glitter bomb might be your friend. Have considered posting one to my boss/DH ex/my Ex when they’ve been particularly annoying 😂😂

cricketmum84 · 04/11/2019 07:54

Huge bottle of champagne and a big static caravan on the Yorkshire coast ❤️

lowlandLucky · 04/11/2019 08:33

Flight ticket
New lap top to take with me so that i could look for a new home, nice little 3 bed with a dozen outhouses by the sea.

plominoagain · 04/11/2019 11:08

A merlin purple Audi RS6. It’s already configured on the build your Audi web page , I just have to click “add to basket “

A really really good event horse. And a housekeeper .

DreamingOfLivingInAChateau · 04/11/2019 11:33

the ubiquitous country house with a swimming pool and room for several ponies, and preferably a big enough kitchen to have a sofa in for the dogs!!!

Then the flash cars for mum and I, I second the PP who said the aston martin, and also a jeep renegade old model for when the weathers shit!!

Kalim8 · 04/11/2019 12:42

I'd get a reusable travel mug with moomins on it!

I already have a £2 one, but the moomin one is £7.99!!!

Then I'd go to the next craft fair/farmers market and spend £100 instead of £10, moomin travel mug in hand (I might get 2 or 3), on such dainties as pies, samosas, obligatory fudge, venison scotch eggs, honey, cosy knitted scarves and local booze.

torthecatlady · 04/11/2019 12:58

Loft conversion and turn it into a dressing room

ClownsandCowboys · 04/11/2019 13:04

A purpose built school for academic children with ASD.

Claricethecat45 · 04/11/2019 13:36

Get someone in to look after my dogs....book 3 days in The Ritz.....turn my phone off and disappear to sit in my hotel suite, eating room service and drinking Crystal and make a list of what I am going to do, on some Smythson note paper with a Montblanc fountain pen.

Phew....what a dream
